Notes from the arena champ.
WOW!?! I did not expect to be here. Assur had me change my swing just a little
bit and it paid dividends. The original goal was simply to make a halfhearted
attempt at the throne since I'm only waiting on PPs and Pete was unlikely to try and
kill me (unlike many of the other Challenger Champs). More than likely it was Pete
being off just a bit and me getting a nice swing in to drive the ball hard.
I am now 2 PPs from graduation and my minimum possible recognition after this
turn will be 90. That means graduation is imminent unless I die. Assur is quite
pleased, even more pleased that I took the throne. He always likes to see his Lord
Protectors take the throne (assuming I will indeed achieve that status).
Thanks to all! It has been a rough city to grow up in, but now perhaps I can
develop into the flower that Assur wants me to be!

Greetings, Warriors of OSKSI. Allow this humble servant Novgorodny Vir to give
you a respite from the fights in the form of this Spyreport. Nothing is certain in
OSKSI, with changing loyalties, changing Duelmasters. Write this down: new top
team--OUR HIGHEST HONOR. Those betting on THE BLACK COMPANY lost their shirt, as THE
BLACK COMPANY lost their fighting abilities: 0-0-0. What's a move up by 4 you ask?
(alright, maybe you didn't ask) Cause for celebration, according to VEGGIES. Good
things come to those who fight well, as OUR HIGHEST HONOR can attest, moving up by 1.
OUR HIGHEST HONOR had cause to celebrate, after GRUNT 10 got 20 points by beating
KHALHUMS DWARF. A certain someone should cut down on the drinking and practice more,
after losing 9 points to WASHED OUT HORN. (Discrete enough, RIG?) Well, Duelmaster
ARUGULA challenged GAMES LIBRARY's KANDARESRON VARN. Is a 23-19-1 good enough?
Those who hoped for a new Duelmaster were disappointed by KANDARESRON VARN, of GAMES
LIBRARY, who despite a 21-20-0 couldn't overcome OSKSI's Number 1. Word has it one
team in OSKSI is using psychics to predict wins. They lead a charmed life!
A Zenmaster once told me, 'Does not the spinning wheel turn? And do not the
little birds cry out?' Any ideas? Like a horde of jackals fleeing from the lion, so
did the "warriors" in OSKSI avoid FRAT PARTY BLOWOUT. Like a pup with its tail
between its legs, AESIR scurried away from FRAT PARTY BLOWOUT. Oh, the shame! Is it
charming personality? Conversational abilities? Good oral hygiene? Whatever it is,
MELONDARION NORIS is the most challenged warrior. As a confidence booster, CANOE
RACE challenged MARISONDRA KENDRA, down 16 points. Do you also slay vicious rodents
in your spare time, CANOE RACE? Bookies and CANOE RACE were more than a little
surprised, as MARISONDRA KENDRA snatched an easy victory from CANOE RACE, gaining 19
points.

There was a line outside the Gladiatorial Commission's registry office. There
often was, but surely not now? Alarond the Scribe, who had drawn office duty today,
frowned at them.
A stocky, fit, moderately handsome gladiator stepped up to the counter. "I want a
name-change," he said. "How can I do my best known as," he shuddered, "'Dangling
Eyeball'? My name is Joe, and I want to use it."
A small and very shapely woman stepped up beside him. "And I am really tired of
being known as 'DA Bait'." She smiled, causing Alarond to sway where he stood. "I'd
like to be known as... Aphrodite, I think."
The others crowded forward, each advancing a claim, the babble of voice rising to
a roar, the crowd beginning to look like a mob--and every member of it armed and
dangerous.
Alarond raised his hands to quiet them, without much success. He raised his
voice, too. "We'll do it! A Name-Change-O-Rama, as soon as we can get the paperwork
lined up! Two or three months, maybe--"
The gladiators howled in protest at the delay.
"No, listen! The files here are HUGE, it will take time to get everything
straight. You've got to be patient. It WILL happen!"
