Westside Bullocks
A dried stream of blood caked the face of the Golem. Tinieton, still feeling
the sting of the back of his master's hand, cowered in the corner of his room.
Farnham towered above him, glaring at Tinieton with fury in his eyes.
Farnham was angry. He wasn't particularly angry with Tinieton per se, Tinieton
just happened to be in the room when news of Timmy!'s death reached his master's ears
and Tinieton bore the full brunt of Farnham's tirade.
"I want you to kill that swine!" ranted Farnham. "In fact, kill all of those
Dreamer swine!"
"Yes, my master." whimpered Tinieton.
"I'll be on my weekly journey to the isle of Sunset and while I'm gone, you
bring blood to the arena sands of Jhelum. Blood. Do you understand?"
"Yes, master."
"Boy!" Farnham yelled, summoning the Jhelum Arena message runner assigned to the
Westside Bullocks, "Send word to Reveur, and the rest of the Dreamer's Stable. We're
coming for them."

The doorway was easily cleared, but the panel revealed, sunken within the
framework of the upright stone, didn't look like a door. There was no handle, no
keyhole. There wasn't even a visible crack separating the door panel itself from the
frame. Dogface looked at Nahrmin for instructions.
The arenamaster was gaping. He opened and closed his mouth several times before
he managed to produce words. "It shouldn't be like this! I saw it a few years ago,
and it had a handle and a lock plate." He held up a heavy iron key to reinforce his
protest. "Why would anybody change it? This isn't some Mysterious Tomb, it's just a
records vault!"
"It is a Mystery now," Nestor Khan said. The Dark Champion smiled, revealing
teeth that were...a little too long and pointed. His eyes were visibly glowing even
in the light where he now stood. "A Mystery should always be examined. There may be
Clues."
"I don't like it," Nahrmin said. "This is a Sinister Mystery, and those are the
worst kind." He stepped away from the excavation. "Fill it back--"
"No." The Dark Champion's was hard. His hand closed on the arenamaster's wrist
in a grip that looked painful. "This must not be covered up again. "Dark Mysteries
gain strength by being hidden and ignored."
The arenamaster met Khan's red-eyed stare with his own hard gaze. "The terms by
which you serve in Jhelum are exact," he said. "Do not make me invoke the penalty
clauses."
Nestor Khan looked away and released his grip. "There has been some kind of
power at work here," he said. "Leaving it to continue its work, without knowing what
it might do, can be dangerous."
Arenamaster Nahrmin nodded once and turned back to Dogface. "Cover the doorway
up again, make it look as natural as you can--like it was before. I don't want
anyone getting curious until we can call in a mage to examine it."
The gladiator picked up his shovel again, but he could hear the Dark Champion
muttering. He hoped it wasn't a spell. If the man was really a demon, who could
tell what he might be capable of?
"I can examine it," Nestor Khan said. He soundes sulky.
"There are magicians I can call on," Nahrmin said in answer to Khan. "They can
come to it...clean of interference. There is already a tangle of spells and powers
around you; let us not complicate it further, to possible disaster."

Welcome JHELUM. I, Olaf Modeen remember this place well. Many the fights have
I fought here. The celebrations, the disappointments... Phhbltt! Too much drinking
and too little dodging gave BLACK & BLUE a 0-2-0! I got a good laugh out of it! Ya
gotta be quick on yer feet! Keep your elbow off the table! Thrust! Block out the
pain! F BALLS is now ranked 3rd with a 2-1-0 turn. DREAMERS showed JHELUM what they
were made of as they fought with a vengeance to walk off with 3-0-0. What's with
SCANDALF? He actually beat JHELUM's EMBEZZLING SCRIBE, and walked away with 16 more
points from the fight. Laughs were big at F BALLS while they watched FOOT BALL
clobber HALDOR. He lost 9 points and got bruised from objects thrown from the
stands. Apparently JHELUM isn't filled with as many gutless wonders as I thought.
The Dreaded Duelmaster got 2 challenges this turn! DARK CHAMPION was reminded on the
sands why SOGNATORE is Duelmaster. I suppose you want to hear some rumors and dirty
gossip about your fellow fighters? Tough!
Speaking of cowardly avoiders and unfair challenges... How well I know the
feeling of being in the most avoided team! Don't fall out of practive, FROM THE FAR
SIDE! In my day, no team with a 5-0-0 would scare me off! What's the problem,
LOTHLORIEN?
A fighter's lot is filled with strife, revenge, and killing. Some fighters
don't accept this. The best do. LEGALASS larned his lesson (RIL taught it well),
and we right likely won't be seein' 'im fight any LOTHLORIEN members with the same
gusto. Is it my imagination, or are fighters getting younger every day? To die so
young, so gloriously!
Many other cities have retirement homes for aged warriors. Any plans here? The
end of another Spyreport! That's cause for celebration in my book! Time for my

I have returned after a five-year absence. I expect all tithes, gifts and bequeaths

Several questions have been asked about Slaughter's Challenge that I'd like to
address and clarify.
1) All Prizes must be used on the contest team, this includes the resurrection.
Remember any fast arena team should be able to transfer to a slow arena
(except for arena 82, I believe).
2) Warriors will be allowed to fight and run in the dead tourney, should there
be one, and return if an opening can be made without breaking the rules
(i.e. only one DA fight allowed per team).
3) If you win your single DA match you do not get another. It's one use of the
Dark Arena win or lose so if you want him/her/it dead be sure and throw the
match!
4) The resurrection potion's longevity has been extended by the commission to 6
months but the other potions (favorites, and +1 bonus) must still be used
within 2 turns and on a 5 FE or higher warrior. The resurrection can go on
any warrior regardless of FE.
