Who would have taken Foos Ball as a cultist? He who had been Challon and then
Challost shrugged mentally. Maybe the Ball was just a catspaw of the cult. Not that
it mattered. Here he was, dead. Again.
Now what?
He blinked. Ah. Following the chain of logic, it must mean that: he had eyes,
the eyes were almost certainly in a body, the body was capable of at least that much
movement, therefore, he was probably alive. Again. Was this good or bad? Did it
matter? He couldn't do anything about it. He'd already made the basic decision when
he died the first time: live and struggle with whatever was going on.
The demon's voice floated out of the darkness around him. "Back with us again.
You will become an 'old hand' at this, though I would recommend not repeating the
effect too often. Ahringol gets...testy."
"This wasn't MY idea, I would rather have stayed alive," Challon protested.
"No doubt. Come, time you were up. You need to get the new body moving as
quickly as possible."
Hands that gripped like vices shifted him, placing his feet on the--on a floor.
Or something. Guided him...somewhere. A chair under him, a table in front of him
(with food on it), a lamp. He remembered the lamp.
"What do you remember?" Nestor Khan demanded. "You must have stumbled across
something important, to be killed so quickly."

SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of JHELUM! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. A new guild, HALF(LING) HEROES, entered
JHELUM with a clash this turn, showing off a 3-1-0 record. Indeed, a worthy addition
to the city guilds. REGIS caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as
he skillfully bested PERSISTENT BEGGAR and was awarded 15 points in recognition. In
one of the week's more notable duels, LEONIDAS put down FLAT BALL, causing him to
lose 9 points of recognition in the process. Not for nothing has LEOPARD in the past
laid claim to the Duelmaster's throne, and this week she's proven hers combat skill
yet again. Heed this! A seer has warned that if exactly 6 die in duels this week,
the whole city shall perish! Just remember...5 or 7!
Many and various are the arts of battle. In JHELUM "art" is a word that has
long since passed from the language! I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when
this week's challenge seeking began. DOGS OF WAR is feared. This much I can say.
Apparently the stalwarts of F BALLS are catching the bulk of jests down at the
challenging board for their large share of the avoids. Loose talk at the arena has
reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters are after
HANNIBAL. Watch your back! At the gambling halls I have started to bet money on
FOOS BALL. He has got the courage it takes. Witness his challenge this turn against
HANNIBAL! I must admit to some joy. Before my very eyes the underdog in this
contest, FOOS BALL, defeated HANNIBAL to claim victory and recognition.
Is not Death a warrior's foremost adviser? Warriors, may this counselor stand
ready at your right hand forever! Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears
arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? Ahh, but I can hear the spires of a far off
city calling to me. I must away! Till we meet again, remember: a turtle walks
slow, hides head in a shell, and harms no one; a lion runs to slay its prey.--
Zontani Sharp Eyes

Foot Ball -- You did laugh, I distinctly heard you. First you kicked me, and then
you laughed, and then you kicked me again...it seemed like it would never end. I
knew there was something basically wrong with the whole game-of-balls thing. --
Howard the bruised and disgruntled
P.S. At least you're leaving.
Merkava -- (suspicious look) My spies report that you have been associating with
cultists. This is not good. This is Bad. -- Hannibal
P.S. Elephants hear everything, you know. It's the big ears.
Foos Ball -- Damn. -- Ghost of Challost
The Judge -- Judge all you want, but there's something very decisive about a

The Prostitute -- Gods, woman, go AWAY! You'll bring the wrath of Lady Protector
