Team, so it's up to you to lead off some amusing little anecdote of life at the Dogs
of War guildhouse. You can use your 'flair'."
Red Hammer looked down at his teammate. "Or you could tell us more about your
relationship--whatever it is--with Germaine," he countered.
"No!" Julian came in from the practice yard at the back of the compound. He
was muddy, and what was more surprising, agitated. "Someone has to warn the other
gladiators of Jhelum about 'Morgarisiane of Xochithlan, called the Venomous Vixen',
who is definitely a Fox Woman, not an elf."
"The Commission says--" Mat'ari began.
"You'd trust THEM to tell somebody's true race? As if!" Germaine laughed.
"I'm surprised they didn't label Julian," she glanced up and down his six-foot-ten
frame, "a dwarf. He should be listed as Shewish, just like Red."
"No," Julian shook his head, "but I've got Shewish ancestors here and there.
That isn't the issue. This 'Venomous Vixen' woman--"
"If she was some kind of Fox person and hiding it, would she let them call her a
Vixen in the newsletters?" Germaine asked.
Julian shrugged. "Maybe it's the 'hiding in plain sight' thing. But it's also
DANGEROUS. Fox Women are dangerous. More magical than elves, and they're PREDATORS.
We should--"
"And you know this how?" Cusster asked. "From one fight? You sure this isn't
just loser's chagrin speaking?"
"No. I'm from a coastal town," Julian said. "My family trades with the
Adantri, and THEY KNOW. They deal with Fox Women. Trust me, they--the Fox Women--
are more dangerous than... than a Rirorni shaman. We need to do something about this
woman. She's probably a spy of some kind, either that, or she did something so bad
that she's on the run."

SPY REPORT
Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly JHELUM games. Former top team DOGS OF WAR was
unseated this week as TL;DR moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top spot with a
3-2-0 record for the round. DA VINCI CODE caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial
commission as he skillfully bested MAT'ARI and was awarded 26 points in recognition.
In one of the week's more notable duels, DA VINCI CODE put down MAT'ARI, causing her
to lose 15 points of recognition in the process. Not for nothing has IRONSIDE in the
past laid claim to the Duelmaster's throne, and this week he's proven his combat
skill yet again. Informants "close" to the city champion have told me that he never
fights without pantyhose on beneath his armor. Watch out!
Many and various are the arts of battle. In JHELUM "art" is a word that has
long since passed from the language! Loose talk at the arena has reached my ears and
it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters are after JULIAN. Watch your back!
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? My condolences to JANUARY FRIENDS for their loss of a very
promising warrior, SLED RUNNER. SLED RUNNER went to doom before the arms of JULIAN,
a warrior of DOGS OF WAR. Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms.
One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
If it were not for my skills as a spy I would have been mugged three times
already in JHELUM. Nice atmosphere you have here! Sadly warriors, now longer can I
keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till
