SPY REPORT
Greetings, Warriors of JHELUM. Allow this humble servant Novgorodny Vir to give
you a respite from the fights in the form of this Spyreport. DOGS OF WAR? Who?
DEVIATION is the top team these days, buddies! I doubt many are quaking in their
boots, but TOLBINS HIVE C comes out of nowhere to get 4-1-0. What does the future
hold? Watch this space... OUT OF PROZAC had cause to celebrate, after THE UPTIGHT
MAN got 81 points by beating RAJ FENRIS. Win some, lose some. Speaking of which,
PIMP POTENTIAL was winsome, after beating ARGGH and seeing it lose 17 points. In
JHELUM, nothing is permanent (except Death), and we find ourselves a new Duelmaster,
BEAST MODE. Word has it one team in JHELUM is taking speech lessons to try to bore
their opponent to death. I'll bet it works.
And how sociable are JHELUM's warriors? Come, let us see. Perhaps the warriors
of DOGS OF WAR should take up some hobbies, as they are the most avoided team... As
a woman of good breeding scorns the "warriors" of DEVIATION, so did that sorry team
shy from DOGS OF WAR Is it charming personality? Conversational abilities? Good
oral hygiene? Whatever it is, SUN TREE is the most challenged warrior. LEON FROM
NAPA found himself challenged by a warrior 19 below: SOUTHERN TIER. SOUTHERN TIER
of DEVIATION kept his wits as he was overcame by LEON FROM NAPA. Willing to win at
any cost is QUEEN OF COOL, who challenged SUN TREE, 8 points junior. Our sympathies,
SUN TREE! I thought QUEEN OF COOL showed great skill and promise when she beat SUN
TREE. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Like the wind whispering among the pines, do hearest I many disquieting rumors.
Ask not a spymaster for counsel, for he will pontificate long after you have fallen
into an unconscious stupor.
All good things must come to an end. More important duties call me. Like a
mixed metaphor, and an overtaxed simile, I now bid JHELUM farewell-- Novgorodny Vir

NAME CHANGE-O-RAMA
There was a line outside the Gladiatorial Commission's registry office. There
often was, but surely not now? Alarond the Scribe, who had drawn office duty today,
frowned at them.
A stocky, fit, moderately handsome gladiator stepped up to the counter. "I want a
name-change," he said. "How can I do my best known as," he shuddered, "'Dangling
Eyeball'? My name is Joe, and I want to use it."
A small and very shapely woman stepped up beside him. "And I am really tired of
being known as 'DA Bait'." She smiled, causing Alarond to sway where he stood. "I'd
like to be known as... Aphrodite, I think."
The others crowded forward, each advancing a claim, the babble of voice rising to
a roar, the crowd beginning to look like a mob--and every member of it armed and
dangerous.
Alarond raised his hands to quiet them, without much success. He raised his
voice, too. "We'll do it! A Name-Change-O-Rama, as soon as we can get the paperwork
lined up! Two or three months, maybe--"
The gladiators howled in protest at the delay.
"No, listen! The files here are HUGE, it will take time to get everything
straight. You've got to be patient. It WILL happen!"
