DUELMASTER'S COLUMN Notes from the arena champ. All hail....ME! Heh heh...just shows what can happen when the boss man actually pays attention to challenges and strategies instead of throwing us in there on auto-pilot. I'd have a much better record if that was the case. So, Red Fusion, Pegasus and I have whooped your butt four times and, what do you know, you have four losses. Is there no one in this dump that can kill this guy? Oh well, guess I'll have to do it. It might be fun now that I know my favorites and all. So, seeing as how Red Fusion is the ONLY challenger champ (not sure if Takkara will actually fight this turn) I'll throw another one your way. With any luck I will kill you. To the rest of you guys stuck here in Transel, I say...pbbbbtthhh!!!!!! -- Endymion, Immortal Duelmaster And now on to the boss man.... Well, not a bad turn I suppose. I promised to tell you Endymion's stats and so I shall: 9(1)-8-8-15-15-15-15. Pretty good performer. Learns weren't bad. I may or may not run him and Pegasus in AD (any thoughts out there on whether I should?). I only ran four last week, but that was an error. I submitted a new warrior to replace Pegasus but it never ran and I haven't received an overview so maybe RSI lost the character sheet. Hopefully that will be rectified soon. In any case, this dive seems to be building up some steam. My history in Transel goes way back. I used to run a team here called Acts of Nature and my brother ran Ottoman Empire (a team that produced one of the all time great Wall of Steel TCs, Attila the Hun). We were so involved in Transel at one point that we got the commission to include The Sultan's Tent (my brother's bar in Transel) in the turn reports. Back then, the Dork Circle was making people miserable and alliances were all the rage (ours was called CRAM). Ahhh, the old days. Here's to hoping we can bring Transel back to its original glory (and let us hope it doesn't go the way of my first arena, Sibikhas). -- The Druid P.S. Science Fiction, sorry about Pegasus' outburst last week. He's excitable. :) SPY REPORT If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of TRANSEL brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to see SPONGEBOB win a fight and gain 22 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, SPONGEBOB beat PANDORA and PANDORA lost 17 points. You're breakin' my heart. And it's out with the old, in with the new, as RED FUSION takes the Title and last week's bar tab from the old Duelmaster. Heh, heh. The Sultan's Tent, humph! I've tasted better ale at mortuaries. Where do they get this stuff? From TRANSEL's trash dumps? Well, let's take a look at some more misdeeds of you miserable sword-boys. TRANSEL, I am losing what little hope I had in you. BATTLE BEASTS the most avoided team? What insult will suffice, I cannot say. And it looks like SUPER BASH BROTHERS avoided them the most this turn. What a pack of would be losers, if you ask me. Hmph. PANDORA was challenged more times this turn than the Duelmaster. Now was the DM insulted or feared? Heh, heh. BOEUF GRAS was challenged by one of SUPER BASH BROTHERS' warriors this turn, with PEACH having a lead of 21 points going into the fight. And sorry to say, PEACH defeated BOEUF GRAS, leaving a bad feeling with the crowd. I think exploitive snob is the term I'm looking for. And we have JOHN CHRICHTON in a challenge, going down 15 points for the fight. Guess what? I thought JOHN CHRICHTON showed great skill and promise when he beat FOX. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal! Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and gone, and get to see if their team cared. Now hey, I like to see a death as much as the next guy, but hey BATTLE BEASTS, whyja send BLOB to the Dark Arena, look at his record, huh? Titanium shields and bamboo daggers, guess what brave team is developing these kinds of weapons? There's got to be a better place in TRANSEL to get a drink than The Sultan's Tent! Any suggestions? Phlllt! Just had to do that before I leave the fine city of TRANSEL. I feel much better now. Maybe I took advantage of you with some of my earlier warriors, but it has been a long time since they've been here (a year plus?) Shocking Toad -- Nice challenge/avoid sequence.... I must same I'm quite upset over the end results, and if I was a normal manager, I'd DA Bowser before he brings me farther down, but I have to applaud your handling of last turn. Too bad the Battle Royal is over or I might send some challenges your way in Talcama. At least I know Fox can beat every single warrior on your stable--maybe not every turn, but he can beat them! -- Assur Super Heroes -- Welcome to Transel. I was going to shut my team down for a while due to fund shortages, but with a new team here and the Druid out for some payback I might stay. Hope you do to. -- Sensei Jan and Battle Beasts The Druid -- I'm actually glad you are back in full control of your team. It was starting to get boring crushing your "fighters" every turn. I'll deny nothing you've said so far. I realized your team was on maintenance many turns back. I think it was the fact that your scums kept trying to raise their Con every fight even though it kept saying they had reached their limit, that gave it away. And you are right that Spongebob is garbage. He's probably the worst 21 Deftness/17 Wit aimer I've ever seen. And he does owe his glorious record to your scum. I've never graduated an aimer before, and of course I'm trying to achieve that with Bob. But if he dies then his streak of good luck ran out and that's that. I hope you plan on sticking around for some time. :) -- Sensei Jan Muffin Man -- Please don't let what Druid said about Red get you down. I think ole Fusion is a fine scum. But I can't wait till he graduates. -- Sensei Jan Caseopeia -- Hey I like it when only the girls get to fight. I really like fighting. You tried, but I was much better than you. You did put up some fight. Really you did, for a minute! -- Batgirl Diargo -- When the Batman comes to town, watch out. I am just having fun at the present. Oh yeah and I will get better with every fight. You wasn't the one I was looking for. The one I want is here in six. Good luck in the future. -- Batman All -- My manager agreed to let me fight. I am really looking forward to spinning some spiderwebs on you. Once you're in the sticky net, you will find that I'm at my best. -- Spiderman Mordant Deserter -- Do you even win? I wanted to put you away. But the arenamaster said to stop. Next time you won't be so lucky. -- Green Hornet Transel -- Well, we missed a few hundred turns. You know how it is. But we're back now. As soon as all vacant slots are filled, we'll be fielding a full team. -- Now known as Saucy Jack, yr. ob'd'nt'umble mgr., Soul Strippers Druid -- Nice to see a familiar face after all this time, and good to know you're paying attention to Transel right now. Any competition left around here? -- Saucy Jack 10 May 2003 To All -- Fellow managers, I humbly request your help. My team (Ex Oblivione) was started in Monuntial (DM 34) back in '92. They were active for seven months. I have lost all early traces of them. If any of you can help with copies of relevant newsletters or, if you fought one of my warriors, copies of the fights, I would greatly appreciate it. I only have one of my original warriors left from the early team now active in DM 60. You can diplo me with any info here in the wonderful city of Aradi. Such an epic demands a sequel. Therefore, Master Darque and Jack Wolfspider are pleased to announce the return of the Stormcrowe Slaughterhouse. Where? Stormcrowe DM 45 (slow). When? The Slaughterhouse returns on Turn 207, due August 19. How can you get into the action? Bring a team (one per entrant please) to arena 45 and announce your intention to join the contest in the Personals. Rules: This time around the rules are very simple. Each warrior win against a higher rated opponent (one or more points higher in the ratings) brings you 10 points, against even rated opponent 7 points, lower rated 5 points. Wins against NPCs or by a warrior who downchallenges are worth 0 points. Points are doubled for kills. All warriors in the arena whether participating in the Slaughterhouse or not are fair game. Points are totaled weekly, and the contestant whose team has racked up the most points at the end of 10 turns is declared Slaughterhouse Champion. Prizes: To be announced; we're still talking with RSI about it. Figure it will be something pretty good. But hey, who needs prizes when the honor of being Slaughterhouse Champion awaits! More info: Master Darque, MasterDarqueDM@aol.com, or Jack Wolfspider, russtulp@aol.com. Or diplo Darque Forces (428) or Dynastic (433) in Arena 45.
