TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Cercaria stepped out onto the grass of the courtyard and stretched his arms
skyward to pull some of the muscle strain from his spine. The years of isolation and
hard work had twisted his body into knots of muscles that were badly atrophied from
disuse. The master chemist had long been successful in his formulations and the
guild had prospered from his labors. But his spirit had suffered.
Now there was time to pause in the work and perhaps rekindle some of the flames
of the old passions. In years past the Guild had a reputation for Gladiators in
combat as well as the Apothecaries that reside in the cities. Many of the warriors
had taken jobs in the shops when the Guild decided to focus on that enterprise at the
expense of the arena combat. However, there were a few who had formed a brotherhood
dedicated to the preservation of fighting from within the Guild so that the old ways
would not be forgotten. These few had their eye toward a day of rebirth in the proud
fighting tradition of Guild Virulent's past. These few had called themselves
Virulent Destiny. They were the core of rebirth for the Guild's glory on the sands
of the arenas and it was them that Cercaria waited for on the courtyard lawn.
The warriors approached from the east on horseback. Cercaria strained to see
them as they drew closer. He wondered if they would be worthy to bear the proud name
of Guild Virulent. Would they be fit? Would they be skilled and brave? As they
drew closer he began to see that there were six cloaked figures and not five.
Cercaria recognized the five Destiny warriors as they removed their cloaks. They
were all proud and fit. Some more seasoned that others but all willing and capable.
This was a good start for the rebirth of a proud tradition. The sixth man approached
Cercaria and removed his hood. A smile stretched across the face of the old man for
the first time in years. Zoster had returned. The only Guild Virulent warrior to be
inducted to Primus arena looked hard and fit. He was ready to return to the Lady's
service. Cercaria pulled a jewel encrusted dagger from this cloak and raised it
skyward in silence. The six warriors did the same.
SPY REPORT
I can't believe the violence in BONSUR! I still haven't told Mom I'm writing
Spyreports. She'd have a cow! Well, here we go... Uncool, FLOWER CHILDREN. I mean
0-1-0 is bad. Will they will be allowed to fight? I say use 'em for training
practice! UNDER JOLLY ROGER like really fought hard to move up to 6th from 11th.
Way to go! MVP award for GOKU? WASTELAND II's proud of him after beating
CLOSTRIDIUM and getting 28 points. Talk about yer major upsets! CLOSTRIDIUM's match
with GOKU cost him a loss of 16 points! The Duelmaster isn't going to stop just
cause he's Number One! BLACK ORC knows this. He was Dark Arena Challenged by the
Duelmaster. Don't you think the Duelmaster is being unfair? I think ARSENAL should
let BLACK ORC be Duelmaster for a while, without fighting about it. I hear the top
team insists all their warriors get nine hours sleep. They want photogenic fighters
for PR photos.
So just why would someone becomes a warrior anyway? It can't be for these
really neat Spyreports can it? BLADES OF ICE was BONSUR's most avoided team. Is
there some award for that? Is there some deep dark secret why WASTELAND II's been
avoiding BLADES OF ICE so much? Or is it just that they're too scared? Like, is
TALLAHASSE TINA popular, or what? She was challenged the most in all of BONSUR!
She's got a 14-54-0, is that good? I'm not so sure SWEATY knew all the facts when he
challenged NUMBER 3 of BLADES OF ICE. I saw SWEATY stumbling and dribbling at The
Warty Toad last week... Like, was that some fighting on SWEATY's part, or what? And
he got 28 points out of it! (besides getting in my report) Poor NUMBER 3.
Challenges, revenges, Bloodfeuds. All BONSUR ever talks about is fighting! Me,
I'm more laid back. Like, who is this guy??? ARSENAL gets sent to the Dark Arena,
battles BLACK ORC, and returns to tell of it!!! I bet BLADES OF ICE manager is
surprised! Fight, fight, fight. Is that all you guys can do?
I really didn't, you know, study when I was a kid. Who would've guessed I'd be
a famous Spyreporter? I'm getting tired of writing this stuff, so I'm calling it
