Korg Shiss, the Black Orc of Bonsur, surveyed the small beach and nodded. It
was perfect. The beach itself was crescent-shaped, the sand was white and smooth,
the water dark blue and washing against the beach in lazy waves, the palms (specially
imported from somewhere in the south, probably at enormous expense, but who cared
about such details?) were swaying in a gentle breeze. Most importantly, it was
totally without the tourists and random locals who infested most of Bonsur's
magically-enhanced coast.
The orc had maintained, and continued to maintain in the face of argument, that
pound for pound, Queen Gemra of Bonsur came up with more goofy ideas than any other
ruler in Alastari. But he liked her private beach.
He turned and signaled the porters beyond the fringe of palms.
When the fire was going (he stuck a whole pig, stuffed with apples and sweet
potatoes, in the fire for camouflage, and it smelled great) and the sun was setting,
Korg leaned back against a palm. The signal would be visible for miles across the
lake, and people were waiting for it.

SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of BONSUR! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Former top team ESPANA was unseated this
week as WASTELAND II moved up from 3rd ranking to take the top spot with a 4-0-0
record for the round. HARVEY WALLBANGER caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial
commission as he skillfully bested EMBEZZLING SCRIBE and was awarded 21 points in
recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, HAILSTORM put down
CAT-IN-THE-HAT, causing him to lose 10 points of recognition in the process. This
time victory fell to the grasp of the usurper. All hail MAJOR ANGER, Duelmaster of
BONSUR! Informants "close" to the city champion have told me that he never fights
without pantyhose on beneath his armor. Watch out!
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city BONSUR. I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when this week's
challenge seeking began. UNDER JOLLY ROGER is feared. This much I can say.
Apparently the stalwarts of UNDER JOLLY ROGER are catching the bulk of jests down at
the challenging board for their large share of the avoids. Loose talk at the arena
has reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters are after
CAT-IN-THE-HAT. Watch your back!
Is not Death a warrior's foremost adviser? Warriors, may this counselor stand
ready at your right hand forever! Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears
arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? Ahh, but I can hear the spires of a far off
city calling to me. I must away! Till next we meet remember: a fool flies into a

Several questions have been asked about Slaughter's Challenge that I'd like to
address and clarify.
1) All Prizes must be used on the contest team, this includes the resurrection.
Remember any fast arena team should be able to transfer to a slow arena
(except for arena 82, I believe).
2) Warriors will be allowed to fight and run in the dead tourney, should there
be one, and return if an opening can be made without breaking the rules
(i.e. only one DA fight allowed per team).
3) If you win your single DA match you do not get another. It's one use of the
Dark Arena win or lose so if you want him/her/it dead be sure and throw the
match!
4) The resurrection potion's longevity has been extended by the commission to 6
months but the other potions (favorites, and +1 bonus) must still be used
within 2 turns and on a 5 FE or higher warrior. The resurrection can go on
any warrior regardless of FE.
