Sandy Shore closed the door to the Beach Babes' cabana quietly and peered around
as though expecting to find at least a Monster under the table. "Is he here?" she
whispered.
"Who?" Laguna Lil asked.
"Sam. He'd never let us do it."
"Do what? Sandy--"
"I know where Blackshell's treasure is buried!"
Lil raised an eyebrow, a skill she had been practicing for weeks. Blackshell
was a notorious Vicious Pirate who sailed the Trier to the south of Bonsur. He
seemed ageless--probably was, since he was a golem--and six generations of Bonsurian
youths had dug up the beaches and off-shore sandspits in search of his treasure.
"What I never did understand," Lil said, "is why he buried it in the first place.
What good is a buried treasure? Treasures are meant to be spent on wine and, um,
stuff. Song. You know."
"Well, if it was just an ORDINARY pirate, I guess so," Sandy agreed, "but
Blackshell is different. He's a golem, and I guess golems don't drink wine--"
"Some do. I've seen 'em."
"Blackshell doesn't."
"How do you know that?"
"Because he wouldn't have buried his treasure if he needed it to buy wine. But
he did bury it, so we can find it, and there'll be enough to finance a real gazebo
for us!"

1.0 Bloodfeuded BARRIO for BONSUR's Title this turn, and guess what happened? And if
variety is the spice of life, BONSUR may be getting bland, as TOTAL DISASTER 1.0
stays top dog in the city. Kickbacks and bribes, kickbacks and bribes, how else do
you think some of these guys win their fights? Skill? Ha!
He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day, the coward. Ooh,
I'm frightfully impressed, SALTON SEAHORSE was this turn's most challenged warrior.

Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. Not that I'll be buying the drinks, but
I'll be glad to see TOTAL DISASTER 1.0 and WASTELAND II at The Welcome Wench tonight
celebrating their bloodfeud victory over BARRIO. Titanium shields and bamboo
daggers, guess what brave team is developing these kinds of weapons?
What does the BONSUR arena have in common with the inns? It's just as
comfortable to sleep in either place. Ha ha ha ha! Phlllt! Just had to do that
before I leave the fine city of BONSUR. I feel much better now. I see the crowds

In response to the Desolate Empire's declaration of war, the Vendetta Cartel offers
the following response:
The members of the Vendetta Cartel can be found in 1, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 22, 25, 28,
31, 39, 45, 47, 50, 52, 54, 59, 60, 100, and 106. Stop yapping in the all-arena ads,
pick an arena, issue a challenge, actually win something, and then maybe (and we
stress maybe) you may speak. You may come to our home arenas (8, 31, and 47) and
confront us, but we suggest you learn to win in your own "home" arena (52) first.
