                             Notes from the arena champ.

Duelmaster...I like the sound of that. Of course, this makes two titles in a
row that the Sentinels have claimed because the previous holder of the title did not
bother to fight! Sigh...yah know, some of us care about these distinctions! Otis
had warned that he might have to take some time off, (Hurry back! There are some
'O's to take care of still!) but I had honestly hoped that getting the throne might
keep him here. Guess not.
So who to challenge? Vegas? No. He doesn't care about the throne and thus
doesn't deserve it. Plus, he isn't likely to fight. Barrio? Could. I challenged
him last turn when he held this seat. But I'm 1-1 here. Tough fight. Maybe.
Albino? 1-0 vs. the white one. Could be, but I doubt he'll fight. Salty the highly
skilled? Maybe. 0-1, but I'd like to try again. Betty? Also 0-1, but I've taken
out Sandy a couple times, so maybe the counterpart?
I decided to try out Betty. She's been on the throne before and seemed to want
it. That's a plus right there. Plus I'd like the chance to revenge that earlier
loss without having to face someone with quite so many FE as Salty. So Betty, here's
your chance. The challenge comes your way. Just don't go blamin' some dark plot
Salty's come up with for a loss. I want to beat you fair and square.
And one way or another, we'll keep a lady on the throne--as it should be!

                                      SPY REPORT

Hail and well met warriors of BONSUR! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Former top team WESTNMAFIA was unseated
this week as SENTINELS moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top spot with a 3-2-0
record for the round. Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the corner!
Witness how this week WORDS THAT END IN O went 3-1-1 to move up 3 in the rankings.
CRACK caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested
EMBEZZLING SCRIBE and was awarded 20 points in recognition. In one of the week's
more notable duels, GALVESTON GAL put down ENIGMA, causing him to lose 7 points of
recognition in the process. Most watched of the fights this week, the spotlight was
on BEACH BETTY as she bore arms against the challenge of reigning Duelmaster YANKEE
ROSE. This time victory fell to the grasp of the usurper. All hail BEACH BETTY,
Duelmaster of BONSUR! No confirmation, but my sources claim that the top team has
gained their position using magical aids. Charmed weapons perhaps?
Many and various are the arts of battle. In BONSUR "art" is a word that has
long since passed from the language! My inside sources tell me that the team to beat
in BONSUR these days is WASTELAND II. At least, most blades in town are looking to
avoid them. If you didn't look down dark alleys you'd have been hard pressed to find
any of SENTINELS last week. Busy avoiding WASTELAND II?
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? My sources at CHURCH LADIES stable claim they've never seen the
guild bitterer. This as a result of the untimely demise of PAM. Beware SILICONE!
Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms. One thing is sure, better a
dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy
company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till next we
meet remember: a fool flies into a rage quickly and often. The wise are angered by
the same thing only once. Zontani Sharp Eyes

Chaos -- Fourth time is also the charm. Shall we go for best of 5? -- Ozy

Grendel -- A winning streak! Perhaps I have found my feet! -- Erasmus

Sandy -- Honestly, I've never paid much attention to clothes. Even in the arena I
always preferred the 'chooses to fight wearing only a loin-cloth' line. The guys
never seemed to see the mace coming.... -- Yankee Rose

It's the old Venomous Gigolo, gods, how that man annoys me. He seems to feel that
just because he's an elf, and a practiced seducer, he can get AWAY with putting his
hands anywhere he wants. Well, I cut 'em off at the elbow, which is going to
seriously limit where he puts them for a while! He can keep 'em in a drawer or
something. -- Salton Seahorse

Yankee Rose -- (sigh) Definite inauguration of a losing record, if I didn't happen
to have one before--I don't tend to remember stuff like that, you know. It's
depressing. I wouldn't have MINDED learning more than one skill, and I suppose YOU
wouldn't have minded learning more than one skill, either. Oh, well, maybe another
time. -- Sandy Shore

You SEE? There isn't anything wrong with me, I beat the Veteran Mercenary fair and
square. I'm just FINE. -- Beach Betty

Betty -- You think that proves anything? You KNOW you always go out to drink with
Rondo the Vet after the fights, whether he fights or not. You think he wouldn't slip
a win your way? Ha! -- Salton Seahorse

Salton -- Rondo's an honorable man! He would always fight fairly and win if he
could. I'm just BETTER than him in the arena, is all. -- Betty

Cover Your Mouth -- Well, darn it, you're a golem. You don't even HAVE a mouth.
It's all some kind of TRICK, isn't it? -- Pensacolita
P.S. And my mouth is NOT "the biggest one in the arena." Anyone can see that, even
YOU can see it, right?

Flail -- Wow, brutal isn't even IN it with you! It's the "short guys are nastier"
syndrome, right? I guessed as much, because of you being short. Uh, vertically
challenged. Well, you can just GO AHEAD being nasty and pushy, but *I* will have
more fun. -- Galveston Gal

Erasmus -- Good luck. If you need help tying your shoelaces, let me know or just
come tripping and stumbling by the cabana. -- Galveston Gal

Huntsman -- What, up and down the vin rows? (grin) Lots of fun, so long as you
don't trip over one of the chickens. I do wish the Babe Next Door would take her
stupid chickens HOME. -- Pensacolita

Yankee -- Coulda been. -- Sandy Shore

Yankee Rose -- Listen, coy isn't EASY, you know. I have to practice! -- Salton

24 January 2007
The Council of Lords would like to propose a rule change in ADM and Primus. We
propose that Lord Protectors ranked "Grand Champions" and below (ADM) and "The Tower
Guard" and below (Primus) be allowed to fight in the Dark Arena. This would not
impact the top rankings or title match. Any managers who never got his fill or shot
at fighting Gateway monsters would have it as an option. We believe it might spark
some interest in the ADM/Primus realm for some managers. If interested, speak up in
the newsletters or on forums under the "rules changes" thread and let RSI know. This
could even be something to try for 12 months and then be re-evaluated. What say you,
managers of Ghea? -- The Icelord sends....
