Teri Towyl stuck her head into the cabana and said, "Nora, did you invite any
trolls to this party?"
"What, a troll?" Nora looked up from the bowl of punch she was mixing. "Of
course not! You know how hard it is to feed a troll, and we only have ONE pig
roasting."
"Well, there's one coming. It's already trampled two vins, and Surfer Sam* is
really annoyed. Well, more than annoyed, and you know how Sam gets!"
Nora shuddered, her ladle tapping briskly against the side of the punchbowl.
She did, indeed, know how Sam got. He couldn't have been more protective of his vins
if they'd been his children, although in fact most of the vins were older than he
was. "Maybe if you told the troll to go away?"
Teri snorted. "As if!" She looked back over her shoulder. "It's headed for
the fox yard, now!" The noise of the pre-party happy hour got louder, including the
outraged complaints of several chickens. "I have to go--"

Surfer Sam looked reproachfully at the smashed vins and then at the troll. This
was what happened when he went off and left the Babes on their own. Parties at all
hours. Trolls in the vinyard. Chickens coming under the hedge from the Farm Next
Door. The foxes upset. What next?
The troll, which seemed to sense that something was not quite right in the
situation, shifted from one large foot to the other and made rumbling noises deep in
its throat.
Sam shook his head. If that was speech of some kind, he couldn't understand it.
The troll rumbled again, then produced a scrap of leather with some
incomprehensible markings on it. It held the scrap toward Sam, then toward the
nearest fox.
Same felt a candle burst into flame in his mind. "Ah! You want to fox a
message!"
More noises from the troll, emphatic ones.
Sam chose to consider that a positive response. But there was still a problem,
and not one that, as a member of the Southern Fox Network, he'd encountered before.
"Who's it supposed to go to? The fox will have to know."
The troll squatted and began to draw in the dust with one stony finger.
* Surfer Sam graduated from this team long ago when it was still called Beach Blanket
Babes. For a while he served as manager for the team, but his dedication to the
cultivation of vins and the occasional Heroic Escapade didn't leave him enough time
to manage seriously.

Notes from the arena champ.
I can't believe I didn't get a column written last turn! Nomad's going to be
annoyed--he always makes us write a column! Maybe I can blame it on the Babe's smash--that stuff always causes problems! Yeah, must have been the smash!
But seriously, sorry about no column last turn. It almost makes us look like
absentee tourney timers, and we wouldn't want that! I guess this column wouldn't be
much different considering both turns were match-ups against a certain Babe named
Nora. Nice try again Nora, I suspect you need more practice behind the Cabana....
And now I am off to try and defend my throne.
Obrojobo, Duelmaster of Bonsur
SPY REPORT
Greetings, warriors of BONSUR! Once again I've been called out of retirement
for my abilities and insights into Spyreporting. Hmmmph! I always thought STRANGE
DAZE was an over-rated team and they proved it with a 0-0-0! What's with
PENSACOLITA? She actually beat SENTINELS' ERASMUS, and walked away with 24 more
points from the fight. Major screwup at SENTINELS. ERASMUS lost 19 points to
PENSACOLITA. Some new strategies, perhaps? Maybe ERASMUS will provide more easy
wins... Try as she might, N'ORLEANS NORA wasn't good enough at persuading OBROJOBO
to step down from the Duelmaster's throne... Advice to fighters with a 1 will--give
up fighting!
No matter the time or place, men will always duel. The most avoided team was
WASTELAND II. In my day, no team with a 898-629-30 would scare me off! What's the
problem, SENTINELS? What do people see in NEANDERTHAL? His 11-10-0? SENTINELS
ain't talkin', but he's got 53 points. NEANDERTHAL didn't quite know what to make of
a challenge he received from MARGO of CHURCH LADIES, who is 21 points below him.
MARGO perhaps got hers just desserts, seeing as she was defeated by NEANDERTHAL and
ended up with 32 recognition points.
There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters
to walk away, or not? Here's some advice: study your opponent, master many skills,
fight dirty.
Who knows what the future holds for a warrior. More fights, there's no doubt.
BONSUR is a nice place to live, but I don't like to live in nice places. I don't

CALLING ALL THUGS, BRUTES, OGRES, QUARTER HALF WITS, SHALLOW HALBERD ENTHUSIASTS AND
MAUL RATS: Since the Bashing style has often been maligned in the forums, it is time
to give the style a little tough love with the following concept: An ALL-BASHER
arena. The rules are simple--enter the arena as a rookie basher. That's it. RSI
said I need to get 20 managers on board and I'm about half way there. If you are
