DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
It seems I need to find an agent--I will need to locate a new cave in my new hometown
--the Isle of the Eye! Yes, that little fight last turn managed to give me not only
the throne of this beautiful city, but my ticket out of here as well. On the whole,
I'm pleased to get my notice; it is a sign of respect and standing within the city.
Still, I know I am headed for retirement. When I first came into the guildhouse
it was suggested that I should be a scum. But Nomad just didn't want one of those on
the roster at that point. "Sure he can be scummy, but let's get him so that he'll
swing back when the other guy gets tired. Just try it." It sounded like a good idea
at the time, but I suspect he has been less than thrilled with what I have
accomplished on the sands seeing as I need to win my last fight just to graduate at
.500. Nomad doesn't typically publish stats at graduation, but he told me to go
ahead. I guess that probably indicates the odds of my ever fighting on the Isle.
The classic caveman: 15(+2)-18(+2)-13-9(+2)-18(+1)-9-11(+2) Pretty impressive,
huh? Now realize that I attained this stellar 22-23 record with only 2 ratings.
Greatsword favorite. I tried it once. It broke in the first minute. I threw it
out. Retirement calls. And a lot of smash. There are worse things than immortality
and smash. A nice pair, actually.
I need to end with a comment about the fallen Lion. Tom was a wonderful
teammate, and despite being 6'8" was very well thought of as a warrior. We will
truly miss the big guy. The job of bloodfeuding, at least for the first turn, has
fallen to me. Part of this is simply to try and ensure that I can finish at .500.
Part is because we have rarely suffered a loss that stings so much. I can't see why
a little lady would dislike the big guy so much.

SPY REPORT
Thankyouthankyou. It's great for me, The Unknown Spymaster to be back in
BONSUR. Hope you enjoy the show. Oh, who am I kidding? I already got paid! Say
good-bye to BEACH BABES, as they are pushed from the coveted top team spot by the
AMEN! stable. Hey everybody, watch out for THE PREACHER, who flew up 11 points in
the rankings after mashing SALTILLA like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy. Ya
know, some days it doesn't pay to walk out on the sands. PALMETTA PATTY was defeated
by WHOLLY MOLLY and drops 8 points. The most challenged warrior this week was
NEANDERTHAL. If this keeps up, our Duelmaster's going to need more avoids! Well
here's a duelmaster that doesn't sit back and say 'Challenge me'! NEANDERTHAL made a
Bloodfeud against CANDY CANE this week. Our battling duelmaster NEANDERTHAL has
managed to hold the title, fending off CANDY CANE's none too subtle advances. Better
luck next time, CHURCH LADIES. 4 out of 5 gladiators surveyed protect the body, so
try and avoid aiming at that location.
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the BONSUR arena. Did you
hear that SENTINELS was most avoided team this week? Well, knowing the personal
hygiene of SENTINELS' warriors, I'm not surprised! Okay, so I may not be funny, but
catch AMEN!'s act in the arena. Those acrobats seem to be fairly deft at running
from SENTINELS.
Being a spy is great--other people die and you spend the rest of the day
drinking to their memory. Better tanked than dead! Congrats to NEANDERTHAL for
revenging the death of his teammate (but more importantly, feeding CANDY CANE a bit
of dirt). Remember: alliances are great, but try and take your ally in the arena
with you and see what happens.
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of
