Q: What is the ADM Regional Tournament? A: The ADM Regional Tournament is a competition where the best and brightest warriors from the ADM regionals compete for bragging rights and to see which region is the best! Q: How does it work? A: During the month of October, the warriors of each Regional Team will be temporarily moved to a special regional arena, where they will battle it out in a single elimination tournament. The last warrior standing wins for his region. (Learns, skills, and FE gained during the contest will not be permanent.) Results will be posted online during the months of October/November. Q: How are teams determined? A: There are 10 warrior slots given out to each team. The 10 Stylemasters of each regional arena during Saturday, October 15th will automatically qualify and be selected. To qualify for a Stylemaster position, you must have been active in the arena in 4 of the prior 6 turns including the last one (2 of the last 3 for Crysalis). (Thus, you'll want to activate your warriors before the week of July 23rd, to be safe.) Should a team not be able to qualify all 10 warriors, they may select wildcard entrants to fill those empty slots. However, they must have at least 7 different styles represented AND no more than 2 of any style. Should they not be able to meet this criteria, their team will be filled with NPCs. Each manager may only play for 1 region and may qualify no more than 3 warriors on a regional team. They may play a 3rd warrior only if everyone else who wants to participate already has 2 and/or there is no other option. A manager may not have more than 1 warrior of the same style on the regional team. Q: What's a Regional Coordinator? A: The Regional Coordinator is the unofficial "team captain": They are in charge of putting together their team based on the rules, trying to make sure everyone is included and that any disputes are handled. (For instance, if someone qualifies more than 2 warriors, the regional coordinator will work with that manager and determine which warriors will participate on the team, and then notify replacements, etc.) The Regional Coordinators are: Manager (Andorak), Buri(Darkholm), The Dark One (Free Blades), Crip (Crysalis), Master Darque (Unnamed No Tourney Arena), One Arm Bandit (Home Guard). If you need to contact them, you can write a personal ad in the ADM arena, or send a diplo to them at: Manager: Superior Forces in DM 105 The Dark One: Angels of Pain in DM 103 Buri: Tackle Box in DM 104 One Arm Bandit: Sea Dogs in DM 101 Crip: Royal Flush in DM 106 Master Darque: Darque Ages in DM 81 Q: What does happen if someone qualifies more than 2 warriors? A: That manager will be able to decide which 2 to send (or, if there are no other options, the manager may send 3--see above) and the next highest qualifying warrior will be able to take place of the warrior that doesn't get sent if it's an automatic spot. It's definitely a good idea to communicate with your team coordinator and fellow teammates. Remember, even though you are fighting for qualification spots, you all still want to put together a competitive team! (All of the captains treat this as an inclusive event so it's unlikely anyone will completely get left out in the cold.) Q: What if my warriors are not in ADM regional? Or, what if they are in the wrong ADM regional? A: If your warriors are in 100, or are in the wrong region, and they haven't fought since the split, you can request to CSR to have them moved into the proper regional arena. Q: Is there a prize? A: Bragging rights! * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * ---===DELARQUAN REGIONAL NEWS===--- Duelmasters ----------- DM 1 MORDANT (turn 679): VERMOUTH of BOOZE (Papa Bear, mgr.) You know the boss is busy when he can't even manage to deliver a duelmaster's column! Normally he considers that a critical part of the job. And somehow it seems to have happened twice on my watch! Bugger. But at least I will get to write this column-- my last before leaving for the Isle! After many turns in this arena struggling to keep my record above the break even mark, it seems I am now assured of finishing my career here without a losing record! Will it be a winning record? That has yet to be determined. For those who are curious, I am: 17-12-8-17-9-14-7 Striker. I learned just under 2 skills a fight, but suffered from a defense favorite learn and a tendency to learn two decise for every other skill I learned. You might think decise is good for a striker, and it is, but since I only recently attained ratings in init and attack, I lost more than one fight in which I got to swing first. But it did make the decise tactic unnecessary. Now about this shortsword that someone seems to think I favor ... As for the fights, Lila tried her best to put up a worthy fight. But in this case I had just too much decise for her. But a celebratory mug of smash shall be raised at the cabana! After all, any fight you can walk away from is a good one. And any fight that sends you off to the Isle and immortality is even better! I do believe after next turn we shall have to have a serious blow-out of a beach party! And at that point I won't even mind if the smash is adulterated! With fruits and booze, of course. Enjoy the sands of Bonsur! --Lord Protector Etugen Khan, Duelmaster of Bonsur SPY REPORT Greetings, warriors of BONSUR! Once again I've been called out of retirement for my abilities and insights into Spyreporting. Biff! Pow! BONSUR watched with glee as THE MOTHERSHIP 017 got knocked off top spot by SENTINELS! What's with ROSS? He actually beat BONSUR's THE USEROUS MERCHANT, and walked away with 12 more points from the fight. Major screwup at BEACH BABES. LUAU LILA lost 7 points to ALPHONSO BLACK. Some new strategies, perhaps? Maybe LUAU LILA will provide more easy wins... UNDEAD ARTISTS' hatred of SENTINELS surfaced again as ESCHER challenged BONSUR's top dog. ESCHER was reminded on the sands why ETUGEN KHAN is Duelmaster. Wouldn't it be nice to have live subjects to practice on? I hear some team is looking into the uses of convicted prisoners. Speaking of cowardly avoiders and unfair challenges... BONSUR thinks SENTINELS and their 471-316-22 is too much! If at first you don't succeed, give up... Management must be dealin', as the boys at UNDEAD ARTISTS ain't reelin'! SENTINELS' mad! There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters to walk away, or not? So THE MOTHERSHIP 017 sent FESTER to the Dark Arena. Big deal. Plenty more fighters where FESTER came from. Dime a dozen... Now, Spyreporters... Is it my imagination, or are fighters getting younger every day? To die so young, so gloriously! Who knows what the future holds for a warrior. More fights, there's no doubt. Are you as tired of reading this as I am of writing it? Actually, I guess I'm writing it before you read it. Oh, well. Remember--a good fighter needs both good skills and good luck.
