TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Ocean and Ria were sitting in the living room of the Chosen's guild house when
Porta stuck his head around the corner and peeked in the room.
"Excuse me ladies. May I have a moment of your time?"
Upon seeing Porta, Ocean turned so that he could only see the back of her head.
Which was odd because she essentially turned away from Ria as well. Ria was sitting
directly across from her.
"C'mon, Ocean. Don't be like that. I just wanted to show you ladies my
impression."
Ocean turned slightly towards Ria with an inquisitive look. Ria returned the
look. Porta had gotten their interest.
"Okay. Let's hear it." Ocean said. She turned so that she was facing her team
mate.
Porta clapped his hands together with excitement. He had a big grin on his face
as he reached behind the entrance to the room. He then pulled out a wooden scimitar
and held it by the blade.
"Okay. Who am I?"
Porta then made the face of a buffoon. He let his mouth hang open and crossed
his eyes. He then started making "Duhhhh" sounds. When he spoke, it sounded like
his tongue was too thick for his mouth.
"Duhhhhh... I is Zork. I oh lee tay dis unsh. Dat is only b'cause dat the
highest I c'n ca oont! I not be ere nex tine b'cause I sandbagged my way to a title
and I shood na' be ere fighting yous regular guys. Challenge me at yor on risk; I
don ave dees."
Porta then holds up his hand and begins to count, "Un... uhm... eeee... many
kills fa nothin'!"
Porta then starts swinging the wooden sword by the blade and making the "Duh"
sound.
Ria could not control herself and let loose a boisterous laugh while holding her
sides. Ocean could only face palm. She honestly wanted to laugh, but she knew that
laughing would only encourage him. Ocean composed herself and looked Porta directly
in the eye.
"You're going to get yourself killed. Did you read the personals? They hate
you. HATE YOU. You got the most challenges in the entire arena. There are 53
warriors in the arena. Three teams didn't fight. Do you realize how many people
hate you? I am willing to bet good money that every Champion and Challenger Champion
was gunning for you."
"And what happened? Zest got his wish and I beat his lame butt. They can't do
anything with me. I have faced their lord protectors without fear. Maybe Pyrat's
preaching has gotten to me, but those guys are not worthy to call themselves
warriors. Ima Slayer, Ura Goner, Yosemite, and now Zork. Mantor the Bright would be
ashamed of them and their way. And they talk about how Arkers is so great? It was
an injustice to let Seam go by the way side and keep this dung heap. They'll get no
respect from me."
Porta then grabbed his things and walked out of the door. The guild house was
suddenly silent and incredibly uncomfortable. Ria debated with herself if she wanted
to head up to her room or sit here with Ocean. She had promised herself that she
would stop staying in her room mourning the death of her lover, but this was too
awkward. Just then the door the guild house opened again and Pyrat walked in. The
tension was impossible to ignore as he walked by the room. He asked if everything
was okay. It was a gesture of kindness. The look on Ria's face and the scowl on
Ocean's told him it wasn't. Ria filled him in on what had just transpired. She
finished by telling Pyrat about the wooden scimitar he bought to do the impression
with.
"He didn't buy that scimitar for a gag." Pyrat said.
"Yes he did. He just showed us his joke." Ocean replied.
"No. That was for practice. He hired a really big guy at the Drunken Swordsmen
to be his sparring partner. You might have seen him. He is a big guy with a clean
shaven face. He looks like he has had his nose broken several times; it kind of lays
at an angle. Porta offered that monster five jer-hawks to swing a wooden scimitar at
him while he practiced his parries. He is preparing for a rematch against Zork."
Ria mouth hung open in astonishment and Ocean had a look of terror on her face.
"He's dead. That idiot is committing suicide." Ocean said.

Of course, as expcted, here I am again. Not only am I now a repeat Duelmaster,
but I am also an immortal Lord Protector. One more fight and on to The Big Time.
Imerta Loel, you were a good match; I am simply the better warrior. I respect
you more than I do that scumbag whiner Port-o-Potty Mouth. Ah, but his antics
sometimes make my day.

Hail ARKERS! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for your
deeds. THE BRETHREN stable has parlayed this turn's 3-2-0 into a 4 space move up the
rankings. This brings them up to 3rd place. Good work, guys! The STEEL PROPHETS
guild has had a 4-1-0 turn and deserves to be watched in the future. You never know
where this kind of thing can lead. And let's see, IMERTA LOEL fought IWO JIMA and
gained 25 points and contributed to MIDDLE WAY 11's 2-2-0. IWO JIMA has lost to
IMERTA LOEL, falling 39 points, while helping make SMITHSONIAN a 1-2-0 turn.
PORT-A-FORTRESS challenged for the Duelmastership this turn, attempting to dethrone Z
GLADIATORZ's warrior. Defending his title for another turn, ZORK kept THE CHOSEN's
warrior, PORT-A-FORTRESS, from claiming the throne. By the way, was that our
Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the table at The Warty Toad?
He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose
for good reasons. My mama told me that one. I also notice that the THE CHOSEN
stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on ARKERS, what are you afraid of?
And avoiding THE CHOSEN more than any other team we find WEIRD ALCHEMY. ARKERS, are
we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? Well, sports fans, take notice
that MAYFLOWER from SMITHSONIAN was ARKERS' most challenged warrior this turn. PAIN
MAGNET from STEEL PROPHETS took a risk this turn by bravely challenging up 27 points
in a challenge against HYPPOMATOS. And whaddya know, PAIN MAGNET beat HYPPOMATOS,
and the fighters of STEEL PROPHETS were last seen lifting frothy pints of ale in
honor of PAIN MAGNET's 22 point gain. In a brave attempt, BLUE FLAK from STEEL
PROPHETS challenged up 23 points to fight MAYFLOWER from the SMITHSONIAN stable.
BLUE FLAK perhaps got his just desserts, seeing as he was beat by MAYFLOWER and ended
up with 44 recognition points.
We only live a short time in this world, so why not take a sharp blade, and
shave it close? Anyone care to tell me why the warriors of TRIAL BY COMBAT haven't
revenged the death of KAZANDRA KRUEL against PYRAT IRONFORGED of THE CHOSEN yet?
