In the Delta east of Zukal:
A cluster of sheds. Nothing that Doreg would call a house, exactly. Nothing
he'd even call a barn. Just...sheds. Not in the best of repair. Weathered wood,
ragged, half-rotten thatch. Some of the doorways had filthy cloths hung in them to
keep out drafts; others gaped blackly.
What the young Bandit Prince had thought was a gnarled stump straightened up to
a height of five feet and slanted toward Zrof One-Eye. It still looked a stump to
Doreg, a thick, knotty stump with crumbling bark. "What you want?"
"To leave our horses here and find them alive when we return," the arenamaster
answered.
The stump slanted again. Doreg decided that was a bow. "It be."
Zrof dismounted, signaling for Doreg to do the same, and removed the pack from
behind his saddle. Doreg didn't know what was in that, but it had to be more than
the blanket and trail rations he was carrying. A little bigger and it could have
been a body. The arenamaster moved around the shacks and into the forest again, with
the younger man following.
When they were (he hoped) out of earshot, Doreg asked, "What were those...
things?"
Zrof shrugged. "I'm not a zoologist. I call them trolls. And yes, we can
trust them to take care of our horses. And to block anyone who might try to follow
us further."
"Ah...speaking of 'further'--"
"Where are we going?" Zrof didn't look back, but Doreg could hear amusement in
the man's voice. "To catch, hmm, call it a ferry. For Barikala. On Barikala we'll
find a Gate that will, with luck, take us to the Demon Prince."
"I thought you mentioned some kind of tower here in the Delta?"
The arenamaster shrugged. "I may have done. The tower is where we'll find the
ferry."

Good heavens! I actually BEAT the Copy Cat, I wonder if that makes ME a copy
cat, since he went around beating people all the time. Ah, well, not my problem.
I'll just savor it while I've got it.

ground for complaint.

Well, what are you looking at, ZUKAL? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens
before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. Looks like ZUKAL has some guts at least,
BLUE HAVEN the Duelmaster was this turn's most-challenged warrior. PUSS challenged
ZUKAL's Duelmaster for a shot at the throne. And if variety is the spice of life,
ZUKAL may be getting bland, as BLUE HAVEN stays top dog in the city. The Blue Boar
Inn, humph! I've tasted better ale at mortuaries. Where do they get this stuff?

Well, let's take a look at some more misdeeds of you miserable sword-boys. I
guess I can give a little credit to ZANADU of PHILANTHROPISTS for challenging up by
18 to E. LECTER. ZANADU won to get 57 points of recognition.
Some people like volunteer work in the hospitals. I volunteer for ZUKAL's
morgue. More variety. Honor is like a chainmail shirt, it only shines through use.
Certain nameless cowards will doubtless rebuke me on this one.
There's got to be a better place in ZUKAL to get a drink than The Blue Boar Inn!

Lord Protector Copy Cat -- The Lady on the Isle says we are to give you lands. The

their territory. This puts us of the arena staff in a quandary.
Surely you don't really WANT lands? Cats aren't that territorial, are they? A
