     "Whatcha doing?" Blammo asked.
His teammate, Fisher King, glanced up from his litter of steel hooks and
brightly colored bits of this and that, curled his lip faintly, and went back to
tying the bits and piece together.
     Blammo scowled.
Norther, watching, thought--not for the first time--that the Commission had made
a serious error in listing Blammo as an elf. Surely a scowl like that could not
occur on any face but an orc's. Not that he cared either way, and the Commission was
known to have very strange standards. Or maybe they were guidelines. "He's either
getting ready for the new year's fishing, or he's making earrings for his lady
friend," the veteran suggested.
Blammo sat up straighter. "Lady friend? Who?"
     "Vasquez of Spacemarines."
Now Fisher produced a scowl. "Mind your own business!"
     "Not into sharing?"
"That's beside the point," Fisher growled. "IF I have a 'lady friend', it isn't
any of your business who she is. And whether or not Vasquez is my 'lady friend',
it's rude to talk about her that way."
     Blammo snorted.
Norther said, "We're gladiators, Fish. We do rude." He paused for a moment of
thought. "Bet she does rude, too."

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings, warriors of ZUKAL! Once again I've been called out of retirement for
my abilities and insights into Spyreporting. What's with BLAMMO? He actually beat
ZUKAL's CAPTURED ORC, and walked away with 16 more points from the fight. Laughs
were big at ZUKAL while they watched KUNG-FU MASTER clobber DRAKE. He lost 18 points
and got bruised from objects thrown from the stands. FISHER KING was reminded on the
sands why SHORT SKIRT is Duelmaster. Advice to fighters with a 1 will--give up
fighting!
Speaking of cowardly avoiders and unfair challenges... How well I know the
feeling of being in the most avoided team! Don't fall out of practive, SPACEMARINES!
In my day, no team with a 52-87-8 would scare me off! What's the problem, HOT STUFF?
What do people see in MABUSHI? Its 11-6-0? SERPENTS HOLD 2 ain't talkin', but it's
got 84 points.
There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters
to walk away, or not? Here's some advice: study your opponent, master many skills,
fight dirty.
Many other cities have retirement homes for aged warriors. Any plans here? The
end of another Spyreport! That's cause for celebration in my book! I don't want to
overstay my welcome...-- Olaf Modeen
