DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Assur was hoping to bag me, but with me on the throne, that doesn't look very likely.
He says he should have had me throw that fight, but he just didn't have the heart to
do it. Besides, what fun, really, is sandbagging. Assur always says that bashers
need two things to be great (Damage Roll and Favorite Learn). He says I have neither
of them. But how can he complain about me? I've been fighting for free for a long
time, have a winning record, and now sit on the throne of an arena where the throne
actually has some meaning (as opposed to the pretender arenas where the throne is
simply a measure of your age before the commission pulls you to ADM).
My time as a gladiator is likely almost finished, though. Assur has high standards
before he'll run a basher in ADM. Of course, better to be a basher on his stable
than any other style. If you think his basher standards are high, you'd be
frightened to see the warriors he doesn't run in other styles. I have potential, but
it all depends on that commission report the day I get my invitation. Apparently,
they'll award me a special weapon and give a special evaluation of my fighting
strengths. If that turns out in my favor, I'll get to join Assur's ADM squad.
But for now, I can only say thanks, because I've really enjoyed being your popularity
leader and apologize for being so quiet in the recent past. But at least I managed
to get my DM column in on time! Hopefully I'll have another chance next turn. I
like my chances against both the challenger champions, though, so with a little luck,
I'll be your DM again next turn.

P.S. Congrats Stormblade and I WILL say it is about time. I had you pegged with
fave learn Riposte long ago--which is what made it so tough for me to do anything
against you.
SPY REPORT
You elder fighters surely remember me. The younger ones may call me Olaf
Modeen. I return to KOLACT once again! Bein' on top is great while it lasts, KING
NIXON. But how many friends do you have now? Hmmmph! I always thought THE MOONDOGS
was an over-rated team and they proved it with a 0-4-0! Up 'n down. Up 'n down.
Rankings always change. Up 'n down. I think I'm gonna be... Well, WAY OF THE SWORD
C3's 5th moved them up to 2-2-0 place. It seems so recently people were saying
SPRINGBORN was washed up, finished. But 4-1-1 moved them up 0. I guess they're
washed no more... What's with WOLFRAVEN? He actually beat KING NIXON's GUTBOY
FISHFOOT, and walked away with 24 more points from the fight. Major screwup at
QUBIT. QAEDA, AL lost 17 points to CUTTHROAT. Some new strategies, perhaps? Maybe
QAEDA, AL will provide more easy wins... SIR PLUTZ was reminded on the sands why THE
UPRIGHT MAN is Duelmaster. Advice to fighters with a 1 will--give up fighting!
If at first you don't succeed, avoid. That'll get you in the Spyreports. The
most avoided team was KING NIXON. The bums at SIR AGLIO couldn't face the challenges
from KING NIXON! No excuse for that! What do people see in VIVID SLUR? His 7-11-0?
KING NIXON ain't talkin', but he's got 52 points.
Warriors of KOLACT unite. You have only your games to lose! TROJAN ROC, with
its forgettable 11-25-0, was dealt death by Z in a forgettable match. THE MOONDOGS
didn't seem to mind very much. ANT of MANAGERY didn't know when to quit. When
you've got a 5-4-0, that's a good sign. Now he's dead. QUADRICEPS larned his lesson
(SLIME GIGGLE taught it well), and we right likely won't be seein' 'im fight any KING
NIXON members with the same gusto. Someone told KRANKY KARL that QUBIT never
Bloodfeuded, that he'd have an easy kill. Well, I'm sure whoever misled you is right
sorry. Is it my imagination, or are fighters getting younger every day? To die so
young, so gloriously!
Many other cities have retirement homes for aged warriors. Any plans here? Are
you as tired of reading this as I am of writing it? Actually, I guess I'm writing it
before you read it. Oh, well. Remember--a good fighter needs both good skills and

I have returned after a five-year absence. I expect all tithes, gifts and bequeaths
to resume as normal. -- Magic Man

Several questions have been asked about Slaughter's Challenge that I'd like to
address and clarify.
1) All Prizes must be used on the contest team, this includes the resurrection.
Remember any fast arena team should be able to transfer to a slow arena
(except for arena 82, I believe).
2) Warriors will be allowed to fight and run in the dead tourney, should there
be one, and return if an opening can be made without breaking the rules
(i.e. only one DA fight allowed per team).
3) If you win your single DA match you do not get another. It's one use of the
Dark Arena win or lose so if you want him/her/it dead be sure and throw the
match!
4) The resurrection potion's longevity has been extended by the commission to 6
months but the other potions (favorites, and +1 bonus) must still be used
within 2 turns and on a 5 FE or higher warrior. The resurrection can go on
any warrior regardless of FE.
