                                      SPY REPORT

Much has changed in KOLACT since last I was here. Never fear, Olaf Modeen
adapts to many situations, as do all successful fighters. What's with FALLING STAR?
He actually beat SIR AGLIO's SIR COPHAGUS, and walked away with 15 more points from
the fight. Laughs were big at KOLACT while they watched VENOMOUS CONCUBINE clobber
SIR BROKE STROKER. He lost 14 points and got bruised from objects thrown from the
stands. I can barely restrain my enthusiam for SPRINGBORN's outstanding member,
Duelmaster SYD TUBULAR. I suppose you want to hear some rumors and dirty gossip
about your fellow fighters? Tough!
Speaking of cowardly avoiders and unfair challenges...
Warriors of KOLACT unite. You have only your games to lose! Someone told SIR
DA that SPRINGBORN never Bloodfeuded, that he'd have an easy kill. Well, I'm sure
whoever misled you is right sorry. Is it my imagination, or are fighters getting
younger every day? To die so young, so gloriously!
Well, I'm pretty much through. You guys need to get back practicing. All work
and no play makes Olaf a dull fighter. Work and play no fighter dull Olaf.
Olaffighterwork and no play. I don't want to overstay my welcome...-- Olaf Modeen

Melody: Sent up or Set up? Here, in his own words, the manager Still the
Distiller... "Yes it's true she came under serious review by the Parry Riposte Guild
for (reading)... 'divulging of trade secrets' in her last Duelmaster's Column.
However, her slaying at the hands of Sir Da was nothing more than an unfortunate
clashing of styles. Kolact style." That's his story. StilltD, well known for
publishing graduating stats, but there are no graduating stats where there's no
graduatee. Rippers, your secret's appear safe for the nonce...
I'm Brad Buff and this is *On*the*Spot*News*

Sir Broke Stroker -- Evolve Bud. Hey, we're young, malleable, and they can't squooze
our hearts into cube shapes...or even pyramid shapes even...well, maybe surfboard
shapes...but that's just me. -- Syd Tubular

Actaon -- Soap?...and edjucation? I'm tellin ya, he's stretching my resolve. I like
me and I'm thinkin fer me-kind his ways could be the more deadlys...in the long run.
-- Sadie

Quasimodo -- What!?! I'm told I snore. <n'yet don> ...rattle the load bearing
members do I?!? -- Pushy Pam

Falling Star -- <ducking> And a merry new year to you too, fighter. -- Mr. Shrdlu

Sadie -- Ah, you're the ladie! Love those moves, that sashay you've got. -- Actaon
P.S. What have you got against houseplants? Some of my best friends are
houseplants.

Quo Vadis -- I dunno. Quis? Que paso? I think you're quackers, myself. -- Estrella

Sir Cophagus -- There are worse things than going to the Infirmary and discovering
that you hurt. Such as, being shut into a two-ton stone coffin. I figure you got
out of that lightly, considering it happened on a dark... Moonday

Mr Shrdlu -- Ah...that would be Etaoin? Or perhaps his brother, since he's rather
old for this life. -- Falling Star, tripping yet again
P.S. I knew I should've paid more attention to those pease and queues.

I was all SET to sacrifice the Cult Member to the god of his choice, or goddess, if
there's one that would take him, but did he cooperate? Noooo, he started yelling
about his insurance, and tips for the orderlies, and they wisked him away before I
could deliver the coup de grace. Huh. Not much grace in HIM, the damned sheep. --
Cynica
P.S. Well, you'd have to be a sheep to get involved in one of these penny-ante
cults, wouldn't you?

Melody -- Ah, you opted to "all come out in the wash" at a bad time, as every time we
try to wash something, another plumbing fixture overflows. We don't need details on
that, do we?
Ah...we were talking about wastes and rippers? Will and strength and stuff?
Hmm. (pause to check) Yes, I note that no wall of steel weapon comes with a ST
requirement of less than nine, whereas ripper weapons include two nines, a seven, and
a five. BUT! There's the question of damage. Nick hates it when one of us comes
back with "does little damage." He's actually been known (don't faint) to order us
to train ST in such an instance! Which, if you have the WL, you can do, and without
much loss in the skill department, or even without any, come to that. Besides, Nick
(who, you will note, is NOT the one out here on the sands) just LOVES the scimitar,
which takes the least strength of any waste weapon.
(another pause, checking back to see where this discussion actually started....)
Ah. "Any rollup that would make a good ripper would make a better wall of steel."
There are so many value judgments in that, I don't know that I'd touch it. Such as,
what's a "good" ripper and a "better" wall of steel. I guess it's just a matter of
taste. -- Actaon
P.S. I'm sorry you're dead. You will be missed.

Quo Vadis -- (surprised look) Skills are supposed to do me good? Gosh, why didn't
somebody tell me this back at the beginning? I'd've paid more attention. -- Moonday

Lord Protector Sir Da -- I'm sure you understand about the "lands" thing. Can't be
done. But we CAN offer you a reupholstered divan. Your choice of a red-and-brown
brocade or, hmm, a brown-and-red brocade. Sort of a paisley pattern, you might call
it. -- Arenamaster Filiaril
P.S. It isn't to my taste, but they tell me that it would do well in a seraglio.

Just a reminder to all you online type people. It is much appreciated if you send
your personals in PLAIN TEXT, rather than HTML or formatted text. HAL, in his
infinite wisdom, doesn't DO formatting, which means having to unsnarl your personal
ads from bunches of extraneous...stuff. So, if your e-mailer has a plain text
option, let it be your friend. -- Ed.
P.S. Sometimes it's the formatted text which makes ads go astray. Not often, but
sometimes.
