DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
I see that one of my teammates is complaining about getting a hard time from the
Veteran Mercenary. Ha! *I* dealt with him quite well, and if that made him, ah,
testy when he met Orbin, well, too bad. Orbin's got to do his own practicing and win
his own fights.

SPY REPORT
Greetings, Warriors of KOLACT. Allow this humble servant Novgorodny Vir to give
you a respite from the fights in the form of this Spyreport. THE MOONDOGS? Who?
VIKINGS is the top team these days, buddies! VIKINGS had cause to celebrate, after
ULF SUNDERHELM got 20 points by beating TITANIA ULMER. A certain someone should cut
down on the drinking and practice more, after losing 14 points to MOON-EYE.
(Discrete enough, SKYHAWK?) Those who hoped for a new Duelmaster were disappointed by
CIRIC, of VIKINGS, who despite a 10-6-2 couldn't overcome KOLACT's Number 1. So who
was the warrior seen charging into immovable walls and challenging dead trees?
Someone's got a basic problem...
A Zenmaster once told me, 'Does not the spinning wheel turn? And do not the
little birds cry out?' Any ideas? Like a horde of jackals fleeing from the lion, so
did the "warriors" in KOLACT avoid SPRINGBORN. As a woman of good breeding scorns
the "warriors" of VIKINGS, so did that sorry team shy from SPRINGBORN Everyone is
famous for fifteen minutes, and ORBIN PAES is it right now. Most challenged warrior.
Isn't THE MOONDOGS proud!
Ah, the duel! The roar of the oppenent, the smell of the crowd! Oh hard! that
to strike a flame, the match itself must needs be wasting!
All good things must come to an end. More important duties call me. Like a
mixed metaphor, and an overtaxed simile, I now bid KOLACT farewell-- Novgorodny Vir

PERSONAL ADS
Killed by an Ambitious Guard? I know he wasn't great, in fact he had the worst
record on the team, but Boro was actually the most intriguing warrior on the
roster! And killing a guy with an id number like 888? How many numbers that
low are left? Sigh. It was a very sad day for the Vikings and Kolact. We
don't even get a bloodfeud! -- Nomad and a saddened Vikings Guild
The criminals were dangerous? Hardly. I guess we can see why the guards are so
capable of keeping them under control. The guards are much tougher. Just a bit
too ambitious. -- Ciric and Chagan
Don't trust 'em. They're lulling you and will sneak up and bite you where
it hurts when you aren't looking. -- Arenamaster Filiaril
I did it! I did it! Nomad said if I made it to 10 wins he'd stop talking about
the Dark Arena! And I did it! #10 courtesy of a less-than-dangerous criminal!
Sweet #10! -- Ciric
Moon-eye -- That worked out quite nicely. -- Hagar
Shrill -- Yikes, you do squeak at a high pitch when you're punctured, don't you?
-- Skyhawk
We didn't get our turn, in fact, we're missing a whole week's worth of turns, so
we're doing the personals from the e-newsletter. You thought hijacking our
turns would shut us up? As if! To prove it isn't enough, we may have to be
even more talkative. -- Jorja and the Moondogs
Very good to see Springborn back! I hope this isn't due to an input error. --
Jorja
Vikings -- Ouch, that's gotta hurt, losing an experienced gladiator to a
standby. Here's hoping the replacement has potential. -- Jorja
Hagar Bluetooth -- Can I claim, and it's actually TRUE, that it was the breath
associated with your discolored teeth that cost me that fight? At least, that's
what I told Jorja, and since she has a "thing" about teeth, maybe she'll believe
it. I can hope. -- Moon-Eye
What's the deal with the standbys here today? The Ambitious Guard kills a guy,
the Veteran Mercenary beats me when he shouldn't have had a chance, and things
are just generally a mess. I don't like it. -- Orbin Paes
What can I say? I don't like beggars. Especially persistent ones. They offend
my sense of the way the world should work. And the way people should work. Why
aren't they working? -- Titania Ulmer
LAST WEEK'S FIGHTS
CHAGAN devastated ORBIN PAES in a 2 minute mismatched Challenge fight.

forward to the tournament and that we will see you there!
Daydream Believer
You once thought of me,
As a white knight on a steed.
Now you know how happy I can be...
It's true. I'm gone. I've punched my ticket to Immortality and I'm off to the Isle.
I know a lot of you are wondering what it is about me that has made me so successful.
I wish I knew for sure. I think it has more to do with intangibles (knack) than it
does with design, bonuses and favorites. I'll let you decide.
Daydream Believer (PR) 17-14-4-17-7-8-17 Poor Endurance--Good Damage
I -- 8 (+1) R -- 13 A -- 14 (+4) P -- 14 (+4) Df - 8 Dc - 6 (+3)
I know what you're thinking, "WTF, that guy looks like a 98 lb weakling!" Sigh...I
prefer to think my physical characteristics are ideally suited for a finesse style.
As for my bases, I know they aren't much to look at. After all, I am a PR. I'm
fortunate to be blessed where I need it the most--attack and parry.
Okay, so I've got nice bases with bonuses in the right spots. What about favorites?
Did I know them in advance or did I change them? The answer is no, I had no idea
what they were for sure until I recieved my graduation announcement. I would be
happy to tell you what my favorites are but I don't think my clone, Jumpinjack Flash,
would be very happy with me if I did. Let's just say that from the moment I stepped
on the sands as a Rookie I used the same strategy in EVERY fight. The only thing I
ever changed was armor (early on vs. TP's) and attack/defend locations. That should
give those of you who have faced me more than once something to think about.
You may be interested to know that I am all natural. I haven't had a prize of any
type used on me. I'm a freak of nature. It just goes to show you never know when a
guy like me will walk into your guildhouse looking for work as a gladiator. It's up
to you to spot the potential and nuture it along.
I'm going to list my tourney results and records versus each style. It isn't meant
to be a brag--I just thought you might find it interesting and a lot easier than
looking it up yourself. Enjoy!

As you can see, the only style I had trouble with is the ABs. I think that has more
to do with which ABs I fought rather than the style as a whole. I was 3-1 vs ABs
early on (Rookies-Champs) and 4-10 in Challengers. I was 1-5 vs Marv, 0-1 vs Marv Jr
and 0-3 vs Soulsnare. I am going to make an educated guess and assume they all had
skills or prizes added to them to make them competetive at the Challenger level where
so few ABs are. I could be wrong, though I doubt it.
See you on the Isle,
