Holding out a hand, motioning towards the new structure, John Longshore, geologist, introduced the Tuft Tuggers to their new and improved guild house. Longshore, one of the last to graduate from the team, had chosen temporary retirement from being a gladiator to help finish the building. "It is a shame Ms. Lacour could not be here to see the results of her design. It really is a beauty." Nodding his head, Tankesh could only agree...on both counts. The guild house was very large, very nice, and had many amenities the old small one did not. And Lacour...Tankesh had not liked losing her, an accomplished engineer, a gladiator with talent, kind hearted, and a great smile. Tankesh sighed heavily, "Yeah..." As hard as he tried to battle killers in his own hard way, it still hurt when someone passed on from his team. But it had been a LONG time since then, and he had victoriously lost nobody in the more recent so-called 'invasion'. It was not the same for every allied defender he knew. Tankesh took the keys and led his young crew of gladiators into their new home. He recalled the old guild house before it was destroyed in the real invasion of the Aruaki Clanhold during the insurrection of General...? What was his name? Well, he sure didn't matter, Tankesh thought to himself. King Mickeal showed what it means to be an Andorian that leads and doesn't take crap from anybody. The wanna-be 'Larqs that are still hanging around the arena arrogantly would shit their pants if they had to face what the Aruaki gladiators did in those hard times. After settling in, Tankesh reviewed his gladiators and his team's status. Some retired gladiators were to arrive soon and take up residence, but the current crew took priority. Despite hard times getting them to win, Tankesh still managed to pull the team's record up to fifty percent. Looking at the almost even record of his gladiators, he began to wonder how he did it. "I remember the brief days when that other team transferred from Tarrgir and prepared for the tournaments. They kicked ass. What was it's name?" Tankesh went to access the information Adie had left him when she put him in charge. All the teams, strategies, abilities, and even the graduate's magically divined preferences were all there...except for that ONE team. "Hey, Segallion!" Tankesh called in his most veteran warrior. The Ondarik from beyond Lirith Kai, entered the room. "Yes sir?" "What was the name of that team from Tarrgir, the one Clovia graduated from? You were here then, right?" "Yes I was, sir." Segallion had been around a LONG time, even longer than his record showed. But his keen memory did not forget. "Maniacal Tufts I believe, sir." "That's right, I seem to have misplaced the information for that team. In fact, I seem to be missing EVERYTHING about that team." "That can't be sir, Nila and I made sure everything was in order before we moved, and she double checked everything was in place. It must have disappeared recently." "Stolen?" Tankesh looked up a bit incredulous. "Nah, we probably lost it during the actual move." Segallion shrugged. "Well, I have to plan next week's strategies and get you and Zlatina graduated. It's about time, you're getting close. Hand me the purse over there..." Tankesh hated having to pay the Commission, but they needed to pay for and maintain the arenas. The elf went through the purse Adie kept stocked with coin for the team finances. "Looks like we're short on money too. Weird. Starting up the Andorak crew must have been an unanticipated expense. Looks like it's just the two of you this week." That was a bit of a surprise for Segallion, but hey, Tankesh was the manager. *** ** ***** ** *** The Aruak arena was one of the oldest in Andoria. It was a modern building compared to say the mazes of magical confusion found in Ardivent's arena. But it was still dark, cold, and dank within. A creepy place at night, made even more horrid during the 'night fights' of the Dark Arena. Some of the monsters that fought in those contests were nasty, but at least they didn't kill. All deaths in Andorian Dark Arenas are still staged so the gladiator being sent to their 'doom' actually just goes into retirement. The Ziggys that the Knights of Virtue always managed to find were stored away in the insane asylum. Despite this ugly atmosphere, one voice was a silky delight to hear floating down the hallways...but it foretold only a darker time ahead, a time when things might change with the coming of dark tidings. "Did you succeed?" the voice mused with an elven lilt. "Yes my lady," a man's voice replied devotedly. "I have 'encouraged' the commission records keeper to amend all public data and 'lose' our team's name." "Good. It is time to finally put this team to work and use it as the cover we need." The slender elven woman ran her fingers through her long lustrous black hair, fondling the silver strands woven within. "Have you any prospects?" "No my lady." "We need to work on your networking skills I see. Very well. I have my own ideas on whom we can find to fill the team." The warrior and bodyguard standing at her side deigned to ask a question. "May I know whom?" "Yes, yes of course. But tell nobody as always. Your loyalty is all that I trust. One is a Dark Elf such as I, but wicked and willing to sully his own hands. He is ambitious, and dangerous, but I believe we can negotiate a settlement to both our benefit. I only need enough money to continue running this team as a cover, and he has it." "We can not continue to steal from the elf," her human companion observed. "No Jolith, we can not. Tankesh may be a chauvinistic pig, but he is no idiot. The other of whom I am thinking is Kronos. As long as we keep him from our throats, I think he'll find my offer tempting. I will have to send him a magical missive. Who knows where that cunning fiend is...?" "And the last member of this team? What of Marcus?" "You miss nothing, my friend. But you need not worry. He has orders to wait from one tourney to the next, and when that rogue finds his way to the isle, the entire team will be ours." The dark elven sorceress laughed gently. "And then?" "And then we cultivate our own power base, find somebody easy to manipulate, somebody foolish..." Lady Fiona Starmantle turned to glance at her right hand man, "...a mortal man?" Smiling, the dark elf made her way out of the tunnels. She had to prepare for her own trek to immortality.... DUELMASTER'S COLUMN Notes from the arena champ. It is an honor to have fought my way to the top amongst the fine warriors of Aruak City. My manager wished me to convey his apologies for not only his silence, but also his unruly challenging of late. It seems he has lost track of who are the good guys and well, who are the.... He has assured me that he intends to uphold the values of this fine Andorian City. A few words to some of those that have met my blade: Wall of Glass, well fought, but I do enjoy beating scum. To Segallion, I was just getting warmed up, I would teach you another lesson, but I have bigger fish to fry. Billy, my apologies, I thought you were better than that. Dik-Dik, you get my challenge, I sure would like to slap you around a bit again before I go, though I am sure you shall avoid. Coward. To the rest of you Challengers, take your best shot, I will avoid no one. I bid you all farewell, and may you find honor on the sands. -- Persiana Jones SPY REPORT Hail ARUAK CITY! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for your deeds. It seems the training can make the difference, as SKASMONAUTS is pushed out of top team by KELLUMBO'S KIDS, who came from 2nd with a 5-0-0 this turn. Now keep the taverns open late tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for THE BLUES, whose 0-0-0 this turn dropped them by 9 into 19th. THE LIVING DEAD stable has parlayed this turn's 2-1-0 into a 9 space move up the rankings. This brings them up to 13th place. Good work, guys! The BULLDOGS guild has had a 4-1-0 turn and deserves to be watched in the future. You never know where this kind of thing can lead. And let's see, SYRLANIA fought OPUS X and gained 22 points and contributed to GERFEL'S FRIENDS' 3-2-0. OPUS X has lost to SYRLANIA, falling 15 points, while helping make OLD BOYS CLUB a 1-2-0 turn. We should ask WALL OF GLASS about the thrill of victory, and what being the new Duelmaster does for a warrior, it's now the one to ask. Tell me, is nothing sacred? I have heard from unimpeachable sources that The Bulldog Inn uses trolls in their stew. Talk about gristle! Oriental wise man once say, 'Hiding behind shields prevents proper sun tanning.' Inscrutable, but true. I also notice that the KELLUMBO'S KIDS stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on ARUAK CITY, what are you afraid of? And guess who avoided KELLUMBO'S KIDS stable the most? Believe it or not, it was TUFT TUGGERS. Anyone surprised? Well, sports fans, take notice that DRAGULA from THE LIVING DEAD was ARUAK CITY's most challenged warrior this turn. In a fit of brilliance or of stupidity (hard to say sometimes), BONNIE RAITT challenged DIK-DIK today, facing a 26 difference in recognition. Even though BONNIE RAITT lost the fight, she at least came away with a gain of 75 points for challenging on of KELLUMBO'S KIDS. STEEL from KELLUMBO'S KIDS took a risk this turn by bravely challenging up 28 points in a challenge against LOWELL DARNO. And now nobody knows where LOWELL DARNO is right now, after giving STEEL 16 points worth of recognition. As quiet chuckles rise behind me. Building dreams on hope, WILLIE DIXON challenged up 30 points this turn to take on CYCLONE from NEVERWAKE stable. And whaddya know, WILLIE DIXON beat CYCLONE, and the fighters of THE HEADCUTTERS II were last seen lifting frothy pints of ale in honor of WILLIE DIXON's 32 point gain. A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to be true. NEVERWAKE has lost CYCLONE to the arena in the sky, but they don't seem to be worried. What do you expect from 5-5-1? This is the stuff legends are made of. WILLIE DIXON has killed CYCLONE, a 5-5-1 warrior of NEVERWAKE. I hear THE HEADCUTTERS II welcomes a bloodfeud challenge. Will SCARLET KNIGHTS II get away with WARDUKE having killed EMILIO ESTEUEZ of BRAT PACK II? One more turn, and the bloodfeud's over, at least officially. A brave warrior does not carry a red shield, he has nothing to cover or hide when the fight is over. Consider well. I like this place, ARUAK CITY, the taverns have old wine, and young serving girls. Who could ask for more? It's been nice chatting with you, until we meet again, keep your swords sharp and your hammers heavy. Until you see my quill in ARUAK CITY again, farewell-- Alarond the Scribe DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME WALL OF GLASS 5534 25 20 0 121 SCARLET KNIGHTS II (507) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME DRAGULA 4942 22 10 1 116 THE LIVING DEAD (454) -MARTIN 1031 23 21 2 114 KULGAN'S KREW (108) -HERMES 5318 10 5 1 110 MYTHICAL (485) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME SEGALLION SUNDANCER 4600 19 16 1 106 TUFT TUGGERS (305) -ARUTHA 1029 27 17 0 104 KULGAN'S KREW (108) ZLATINA ANGUELOVA 4856 20 21 0 101 TUFT TUGGERS (305) -PURPLE PANTHER 6057 11 6 0 100 ANIMAL FARM (510) DIK-DIK 5850 17 10 1 99 KELLUMBO'S KIDS (526) TATIANA SEASPRITE 4951 25 23 0 98 SCARLET KNIGHTS (375) SALENA WARSMITH 5524 15 15 1 95 SCARLET KNIGHTS II (507) -BIG JOE TURNER 6066 12 9 0 95 THE BLUES (539) THE GREAT SAMARITAN 4782 22 27 0 93 GERFEL'S FRIENDS (253) NILA SUNDANCER 4872 19 36 0 93 KRILL CAVALRY (374) TEDDY RUXPIN 6399 17 10 0 91 LORDS OF CHAOS (556) -MARCUS KUERTON 4855 7 5 0 91 MANIACAL TUFTS (431) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -KHAKI KANGAROO 5547 13 5 1 87 ANIMAL FARM (510) SYRLANIA 6107 11 10 0 86 GERFEL'S FRIENDS (253) BILLY GIBBONS 6251 9 5 0 86 THE HEADCUTTERS II (412) SKAMAKAZE 5928 8 6 0 86 SKASMONAUTS (495) BLUE BLAZES 6280 8 3 0 85 COLORIFIC (511) -MEMPHIS MINNIE 6067 24 12 0 84 THE BLUES (539) STRONGBOW 5686 16 24 0 84 ELFQUEST (515) -GANYMEDES 5800 14 9 0 83 MYTHICAL (485) -JUGULAR 5537 10 5 0 80 NEVERWAKE (508) ONYX OWL 5548 13 12 0 79 ANIMAL FARM (510) LOWELL DARNO 4594 19 20 0 77 IMMORTALS (85) -TITAN 5799 14 4 0 77 MYTHICAL (485) BONNIE RAITT 5790 13 15 0 75 THE HEADCUTTERS II (412) -DOUBLE - TAP 5535 10 5 1 74 NEVERWAKE (508) STEEL 6254 10 2 0 74 KELLUMBO'S KIDS (526) K. It's been one of those weeks. -- Leeta, Krill Cavalry Cyclone -- Well, actually, I have NOT met more formidable foes in my bathtub. I'm careful where I bathe. But I've got to say that I was impressed with myself there in the first minute when I dodged or parried all those blows. I didn't know I could do that! It probably won't happen again any time soon, but thanks for showing me what I can do when I'm hot for it. -- Lini Dawnwind P.S. And all those skills, too! Wall of Glass -- How exceedingly annoying of you! I hate the kind of fight in which my opponent never strikes a blow. And the whole "glass" thing--the way you reflected the sunlight right into my eyes with your glassy facade was DISTINCTLY annoying. Practically an insult, considering. May a sudden freeze render you so brittle that you shatter at a touch. -- Nila Sundancer Smudge -- (flutters her eyelashes hopefully) You wouldn't hit little old me, would...? Ouch! Youch! (heavy sigh, soft sob) I guess you would. -- Rockie Dee Rob Lowe -- You hang out with brats? Then you must know my brother. Hit him upside the head for me next time you see him. -- Samira Fleet Bucking Brahma -- Okay, losses happen. I can take that. But the way you knocked me down and jumped over me, crowing about "the cow jumping over the moon," I didn't care for that at ALL. 'Specially since you stepped on my hand when you landed. You definitely don't have the figure for leaping lightly, besides not being a cow in the first place. -- Jo Mooncatcher Segallion -- Skill is fine, but I wish I'd brought my glasscutter. -- Nila Dik-Dik -- Sacred Sun, I hope not! I'd like to fight a variety of warriors. -- Nila Sundancer Bullomia -- Best exercised stomachs around, eh? -- Lini The Singing Bandit -- But when you DO have time for singing, come around to my place and we'll do a duet, okay? -- Rockie Dee Doc Steele -- Other topics of conversation than challenging and killing...don't seem to be many around. Sad. Down-challenging, well, that's perfectly legal and sometimes good sense (sometimes, but I suspect not always). And killing, well, that's legal and it happens often enough. It's kinda like talking about sunrise. It happens. But I can remember some good stuff, even recent good stuff Hannibal and his Question of the Week was a good one. Hannibal, where are you when we need you? Anybody else have some good questions that the managers of this arena could get their teeth into? Should we bring back the old questions, since we've got a different mix of managers and three years more experience for the old reliables? I think I read somewhere that role-playing in D2 didn't interest you, which is fine, everybody to their own frills of choice, and I recognize that it is a frill. [Side note: what happened to all the people who used to write stuff here in Aruak City? Is there a problem we can fix, or have you gone terminally non-creative?] Hmm, an idle thought I had, which I haven't mentioned to the Commission or anyone else yet: do you think there'd be an interest in reopening one of the closed arenas after the next F2F, specifically for teams started there to keep on running in the same company? Maybe some kind of contest involved. Anybody have comments or suggestions on this? -- Leeta P.S. Good gods, am I proving my manhood by playing this game? I never guessed, and me a mother! I do not think the Aruaki civil code includes health or building standards/ regulations, and if it did, the Bulldog Inn would easily pass. You'll have to get even more creative, DK. Nice try though! -- Adie Kennelworth -- Yes! I am off to an indomitable lead! Yeah right... -- Tankesh Bullomia -- You were the one that was unexpected. Damn that hurt. -- Branford Positive Polyana -- Yeah, not only was the fight awesome and down to a hair, but the skills were ohhh...mmmm...so good. As far as unstoppable, I'll let you know when I get ratings such as yours! Go girl. -- Eliza DK -- Slow thinker, my ass! Not only is your name completely masculine, nor have you mentioned being female in past NL's, thus giving not a single clue, it's not like you look like a woman either! Now, maybe if I saw you beyond the letters of the PA's, or out from under all those baggy clothes as you skulk around the Bulldog looking for an easy arson hit, I might learn if you are a cute, or ugly, cur. I've rarely met a woman as vicious as you, and I've known many women, but if you're cute...maybe I'll change my tune. ;) -- Tankesh P.S. My vocabulary certainly wasn't purchased through you! Daring and Kinky is three words, the leading letters of which would spell DAK. You need to use a single adjective followed by a single noun. If my opinion of you changes, maybe I'll find a nice one to describe you. Until then...Detestable Knave. The Nomad -- I have to admit I am tiring of the long winded blatherings from both ends. But I enjoy mild ritual bantering and discussion to keep things lively around here. But generally, you are right. I think I will try to cut back next turn when I see Doc's responses. -- Tankesh, Mgr. Tuft Tuggers P.S. Who are you? Who do you run? Are you...Andorian? P.P.S. Welcome to Aruak! Purple People Eater -- If I am going to be a jinx, I'd much prefer to be one for DK or Doc, but hey, whatever knocks you a notch lower is always a bonus in my book. -- Tankesh P.S. Sorry, I don't have the inside track on the Doc/Slosher relationship. All I know is what the defenders did on their end. Dartor -- Yes, past champions. Freshmen and higher also. It might be difficult to tell, especially in the triple elimination format at faces where the records will likely show losses. Well, I suppose anything that is at the top of the list with less than three losses, and did not die, is probably a champion. Thank you! -- Tankesh Hey! Who's this bloodsucker, Dragula, that's amongst our ranks. I don't recall anybody letting any vampires into Aruak! And yes, I'm prejudiced against them! -- Tankesh Dracula -- You beast! You scared the canine out of me! I'm going to tell my friend Van Helsing on you. -- Big Dog Persiana Jones -- Duelmaster! Congrats to the new Aruak City best. Come on over to The Bulldog Inn for free drinks. -- Kennelworth, Proprietor Rillion -- My impetuous friend, if you have intentions to be King Of Andoria, it is true that we have some work to do on your value base. But clearly you have better potential than some! -- Kennelworth Aruak Citians...Andorians...guests to our city...perhaps you have an interest in understanding The Bulldog credo honor system? Our dignity requires: 1. Avoid killing; death may be inevitable, but is does not have to be intended. 2. Do not downchallenge and take advantage of those with lower recog. This includes bloodfeuding. 3. The Duelmaster should challenge. Hence, a likely downchallenge is acceptable. 4. Help newcomers prosper in Aruak City however possible. It is difficult to consider an Invader as an Aruak City newcomer! 5. Talk, chat, (e.g. PA's) and be neighborly. This is a city of the people. This credo is neither difficult to understand or do. Hail Aruak City, The Heart & Soul of Andoria. Health! Humility! Honor! -- Kennelworth Woodie Treestump -- You need some work if you lost to me! I am so bucking lucky. -- Bucking Brahma For those who are interested, the two most common avoids for Bulldogs are 305 and 508--Tuft Tuggers and Neverwake. -- Kennelworth The Nomad -- Perhaps you are correct about Doc Steele. I did not realize that he was having such a difficult time as of late. I will send him a bouquet of Forget-me-nots to brighten his day! -- Kennelworth P.S. Thank you for the very nice compliment. Albino Rainbow -- I challenged and I lost. I deserved the loss, as you are clearly the better warrior. -- Calfskin Hot Pants -- What would I do without you? You exhibited my all-time favorite buns! -- Hot Dog Van Helsing -- I am not in your class, apparently. Well fought! I may be an enigma, but I am not a vampire. I encourage you to go help poor Big Dog out with Dracula. And please stay away from me! -- Bullomia Lady Adie -- There are no co-managers of The Bulldog Inn. You are the only one. The physical appearance and operations have become optimum under your direction, whether I was away or present. The spirit (and spirits!) is at an all time high! You have done so much to make it what it is. As you know, when I am gone, my ownership is willed to you. -- Kennelworth, merely the proprietor Dik Dik -- Finally! Congratulations, I guess. You made it to the cc's after 26 arena fights. I am sorry that I could not wait all those weeks for you, but better late than never, I guess. Hugs and kisses. -- Cherry Cheetah Blimey! 4-0. This ole pirate bea threatenin' hisn critters wif yon plank more often. Aye! -- Mino Salena Warsmith -- Wow! I must admit that I was fearful of that challenge I made. Yet one must fight the best to be considered worthy. I was lucky to have come out alive and even more lucky to have won. -- Purple Panther Montezuma Whifflebat -- I had fun. I've always wanted to beat a bat. -- Onyx Owl Thunderblade -- Now, like Cleopatra, perhaps you understand the quickness of an itsy- bitsy snake. -- Azure Asp Rainsong -- Jeez! I really thought you had me whacked. There must be something to that Marsupial Legend? -- Khaki Kangaroo Bonnie Raitt -- What do they call that again? You know, where you just have the init stolen? Disrespected! That's it. Sorry, none intended. I like your music. -- Segallion Skamakaze -- Hmm...I seemed to give up the initiative there, didn't I? I guess I need to work on that one. -- Branford Punch Gran Cru -- Not what I expected, but I'm glad I planned for it properly! Whew. That was pretty cool. -- Eliza Strongbow -- What the hell was that? We were just starting to get into it when THWAK, you hit the dirt! What gives? -- Zlatina P.S. Thanks much for the skills, that was great. Positive Polyana -- That was a great exchange, but you seem to have improved much since our last meeting. A very different outcome. You must be a faster learner than I. -- Kalidor Lowell Darno -- Sure was nice to get one of my challenges through for a change. -- Dik-Dik Blue Blazes -- Looks like you used up every last bit of that will to keep going there. Well done. -- Ice Enbalmer -- It's called an avoid. Perhaps you should use it. -- Steel Virginia's Secret -- Tell us little girl, what exactly is your secret? Could it be losing and not minding? That would be my guess. -- Two Stepper Kalidor the Bold -- See there. I just had to keep saying I could do it, and I knew I would! I rock! -- Positive Polyana Well...I'll be.... (strikes a match). She's right, that rotten #@&%$! (Strikes another match). This place is fireproof! Guess we need a plan B. -- Detective Kellumbo Adie -- Your ramblings are enough to annoy me. You never shut up. -- DK Kalidor the Bold -- How's it feel to have 17 fights and still be in the initiates? You really are the man. Sheesh. -- Ice Tankesh -- Moron. -- DK P.S. I may not be creative, but I am persistent. Segallion -- Say what you want, but my record is better than your team's record, or yours for that matter. You'd think you'd be able to do better than a coin flip. -- Dik-Dik Kennelworth -- You are the last person I'd accept a drink from (well, third to last, behind Papaiz and Judge that is.) Health, humility, honor? Give me a break. You must be watching too much wrasslin' there triple H. Stuff a sock in it. It is old and overplayed. -- Detective Kellumbo Street Legal -- Looks like you are good at making friends. All you need is one more person coming after you, and you'll be all out of avoids. Hmmmm.... Don't say I didn't tell you it was coming. -- DK Tank-boy -- If we're to convince JRK of anything, it won't be by talking about it in this forum! Has he been at the Bulldog recently? I unfortunately have not been-- busy times at the Bulldog also happen to be busy times at The Farm. It is too bad that my most ever-present "employee" insists on being nothing more than an assistant bartender. -- Generalissimo Puerco Hot Dog -- Just the fact of how I'm currently earning my living should tell you something about my singing career. Perhaps someday I can take voice lessons while residing on the Isle.... -- The Singing Bandit-o Dartor -- Nice to see you're still "on the ball" (much less, on the job). Salute! -- Generalissimo Puerco Adie -- I thought Santa Steele was making a list and checking it twice but thanks for reminding him who I am! -- Street Legal, mgr. of THE HEADCUTTERS II Doc Steele -- See the above note in response to who I run. You "run" a full team? Two running, three sitting timed is running a full team. Call me stupid but it looks like 2/5 of a team to me. It seemed you were running some one turn and others another for a while so that's the advantage I spoke of, how are we to know when they're timed and are going to stop running? Small advantage but an advantage nonetheless. Now on to the "Most ridiculous statement award"...the winner is <drum roll> DOC STEELE!!! Why would you make an offer to Manager offering to not DC in this arena (he doesn't run here, and we handled ourselves quite well in the underwhelming "invasion") in return for him not avoiding you in AD. There's no reason he should give up a tactic available to all managers to help an arena he doesn't even run in. I was going to use the words "stu..." and "ign....." to describe such an offer but I'd hate to make you feel bad so I'll use the words "nearsighted" and "not well thought out" to cushion the blow. Hah, I noted your team number for posterity sake but don't expect that I'll be avoiding you any time soon; after all I haven't yet and you've been here awhile (failing on your promise to drop my W/L % to "under 40" by the end of the invasion). You'll note I had two major puds you could've beaten up on and didn't, and short of contests I can count avoids in my years of play on both hands (that's ten not twelve, to help you out). -- Street Legal P.S. Hope you don't take smack talk so personally anymore...after all you dish it out now we'll see how you take it! :P All -- My apologies for my absence. I have been on vacation recently and have not been actively managing most of my teams. The only warriors that have been run lately are ones in contests or on maintenance. Since neither of those apply to Aruak City, I have been inactive here. I will be returning next turn though with at least a token squad, just in case Doc Steele gets any ideas about whining that I am too afraid to face him here. -- Rillion Timid Puppy -- You're an ingrown toenail? I never would have guessed. There's nothing obvious to see. -- Lini Dawnwind P.S. Amazing how much a person can learn while fighting for her life.... Cyclone -- Whoosh! Er, that wasn't intended as a pun, more as a vocalized sigh or something. But you really blew me away on that one. (That pun was intentional. I couldn't resist.) -- Ghost of Samira Fleet Smudge -- How'd you come by that name? Just curious. Good try and all, but I guess this day was mine. -- Rockie Dee Billy Gibbons -- Ouch. I lose--painfully, mind you--and learn nothing, and you get the win and all those skills? Once again it is proven that there is no justice. -- Nila Sundancer Superficial Hitman -- Ah, all is clear. Your blows were superficial--it's obvious now. And superficial blows are not enough. Better luck next time, and lose the superficiality, okay? Try for sincere, or even intense. -- Jo Mooncatcher All -- The turn is running in a few hours, and I just glanced through the newsletter and saw that I was facing hours of response time. My work load is such that while I would enjoy some more personal ad wars, it is not possible. So just a few words this turn. -- Doc Steele Letta -- Cyclone awaits your Bloodfeud. If the gods are just, I am sure Cyclone will pay for his merciless down challenges with his life. All of my warriors accept death as quickly as they give it, so do your worst. -- Doc Steele, your friendly Delarquan neighbor All -- I was wondering if we ever got RSI to get rid of down challenges and avoids; what would we talk about? Maybe that is why they will not do it, they love to see 20 pages of personal ads flying around. I'll try to answer all the ads from this turn eventually. -- Doc Steele Tankesh -- What's an elf? I can surely see you're not a true purple people eater. To me you all look the same--like highly edible protein. You do, however, seem a little smaller than most. -- Purple People Eater, Proud Colorific Manager And, by the way, Tankesh the cad elf, your jinx has degraded The Colorifics to 6-3! You lousy little protein pimple! -- Purple People Eater, Proud Colorific Manager Ice -- I love doing that to your type. Detective Kellumbo should have warned you with all those clues floating around. Avoid me, cold one. -- Blue Blazes, Proud Colorific Gladius Starstryke -- Isn't velvet a luscious color? -- Blue Velvet, Proud Colorific Aruak City -- Get that name engraved in your mind. Colorific! Colorific! Colorific! -- The one-eyed, one-horned, flying Purple People Eater, Proud Colorific Manager 20 September 2004 Azereth has returned! I am the manager for Scarlet Blades in DM 25.
