TEAM SPOTLIGHT
WHAT A SIGHT TO SEE!
In my grandiose life, I have been reborn under many different circumstances and
names. My most significant, of course, is the current one as Proud Colorific
Manager. As you all well know, I was a former Rock Star and People Eater under the
same name. Perhaps, however, my revealing of another life would be of interest to
you.
Hans Grapje was raised in a Catholic school in The Hague and, as a young man,
aspired to become a priest, but was drafted into the Army during WWII and spent two
years co-piloting B17s until his aircraft was shot down in 1943 and he lost his left
arm. Captain Grapje spent the rest of the war as a chaplain, giving spiritual aid to
soldiers, both Allied and enemy. After the war, he became a priest, serving as a
missionary in Africa, piloting his own plane (in spite of his handicap) to villages
across the continent. In 1997, Father Grapje was serving in Zimbabwe when an
explosion in a silver mine caused a cave-in. Archbishop Grapje went down into the
mine to administer last rites to those too severely injured to move. Another shaft
collapsed, and he was buried for three days, suffering multiple injuries, including
the loss of his right eye. The high silver content in the mine's air gave him
purpura, a life-long condition characterized by purplish skin blotches. Although
Cardinal Grapje devoted his life to the service of God as a scholar, mentor, and holy
man, church leaders agree: he will never ascend to the Papacy. No one wants a one-
eyed, one-armed, flying purple Papal leader!

I doubt ARUAK CITY will ever be the same. It seems the training can make the
difference, as LORDS OF CHAOS is pushed out of top team by BULLDOGS, who came from
2nd with a 3-2-0 this turn. Now, what did these guys have for breakfast this
morning? GRYFFINDOR HOUSE2 has turned a 3-0-0 into 13th place from 25th. Give me
the recipe! Now keep the taverns open late tonight, for there are sorrows to drown
for ERRATA, whose 0-0-0 this turn dropped them by 6 into 24th. The MANIACAL TUFTS
guild has had a 3-0-0 turn and deserves to be watched in the future. You never know
where this kind of thing can lead. And let's see, ELMER FUDD fought HOT DOG and
gained 22 points and contributed to LORDS OF CHAOS' 1-4-0. HOT DOG has lost to ELMER
FUDD, falling 13 points, while helping make BULLDOGS a 3-2-0 turn. ELIZA PIGERON
challenged for the Duelmastership this turn, attempting to dethrone SCARLET KNIGHTS
II's warrior. Defending his title for another turn, WARDUKE kept TUFT TUGGERS'
warrior, ELIZA PIGERON, from claiming the throne. By the way, was that our
Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the table at The Victory Tavern?
Oriental wise man once say, 'Hiding behind shields prevents proper sun tanning.'
Inscrutable, but true. I also notice that the KELLUMBO'S KIDS stable was the most
avoided team this turn. Come on ARUAK CITY, what are you afraid of? And guess who
avoided KELLUMBO'S KIDS stable the most? Believe it or not, it was BULLDOGS. Anyone
surprised? The most challenged warrior this turn was KRILL CAVALRY's warrior JON
FLEET. More fighters challenged him than challenged the Duelmaster! In a brave
attempt, STU HAMM from THE HEADCUTTERS II challenged up 24 points to fight HERMOINE
from the GRYFFINDOR HOUSE2 stable. STU HAMM perhaps got his just desserts, seeing as
he was defeated by HERMOINE and ended up with 3 recognition points.
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to

especially winning with them. What makes a good parry lunger? Does it depend more
on a combination of design and luck, or does one or the other have a greater effect.
I've seen tank versions, finesse versions, fast/power versions... but each design may
need a certain bonus, whether it is a certain learn type, or raw bonus'. What are
your thoughts? What makes a good PL? And what kind of strategies make those designs

Several questions have been asked about Slaughter's Challenge that I'd like to
address and clarify.
1) All Prizes must be used on the contest team, this includes the resurrection.
Remember any fast arena team should be able to transfer to a slow arena
(except for arena 82, I believe).
2) Warriors will be allowed to fight and run in the dead tourney, should there
be one, and return if an opening can be made without breaking the rules
(i.e. only one DA fight allowed per team).
3) If you win your single DA match you do not get another. It's one use of the
Dark Arena win or lose so if you want him/her/it dead be sure and throw the
match!
4) The resurrection potion's longevity has been extended by the commission to 6
months but the other potions (favorites, and +1 bonus) must still be used
within 2 turns and on a 5 FE or higher warrior. The resurrection can go on
any warrior regardless of FE.
