Notes from the arena champ.
Well, I did it! I am again surprised and tremendously pleased. Wow! And to
have overcome a style that is difficult for me and to win a tuft in the process--bow
wow! It was a great challenge by the Bold Kalidor and I salute him. The gods were
with me.
I promised that if I could make it again, I would expound on the Bulldog stats.
So here goes. Indeed, I went to that crusty old pirate, Mino, and was able to get
the "Starting" stats of all the "critters" too. Aye!

Interesting, huh, making the "typical" Bulldog of 9-11-14-15-15-9-11 bigger and
smarter than the plain old standard 14-13-11-12-15-9-10 critter, wouldn't you say? I
wonder what that all means. One thing for sure, the RUGS are giving nothing to
either of us. Shucks.
I'm not sure what happens next. I will probably try to avoid all those wastes
down below and work for a match with an offensive. Iron Magru looks mighty tempting,
but on my challenge, of course.
Good luck to all who strive for a piece of what I have. There are many as
deserving as I, but I will defend the title with all I have to offer. Health!

SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of ARUAK CITY! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp
Eyes, Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Former top team KRILL CAVALRY was
unseated this week as GERFEL'S FRIENDS moved up from 4th ranking to take the top spot
with a 4-0-0 record for the round. There were bitter words at KRILL CAVALRY's
guildhouse after a 0-5-0 showing this week which dropped the stable into 7th. Dark
Arena anyone? Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the corner! Witness
how this week BALLAD OF THE BLADE went 1-0-0 to move up 6 in the rankings. Did only
my eyes note the 4-0-0 record which BULLDOGS managed to post this round? I don't
doubt that such a record will draw challengers! DOOR KNOB caught the eye of many in
the gladiatorial commission as it skillfully bested AQUA ARACHNID and was awarded 17
points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, THE SINGING BANDIT
put down ROCKIE DEE, causing her to lose 17 points of recognition in the process.
Although LINI DAWNWIND made a valiant effort, it did not suffice to topple the reign
of victorious BIG DOG. No confirmation, but my sources claim that the top team has
gained their position using magical aids. Charmed weapons perhaps?
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city ARUAK CITY. My inside sources tell me that the team to beat in ARUAK
CITY these days is THE HEADCUTTERS II. At least, most blades in town are looking to
avoid them. Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent the
better part of last week avoiding THE HEADCUTTERS II. Indeed it was BULLDOGS. Loose
talk at the arena has reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many
fighters are after IRON MAGRU. Watch your back! Give CALFSKIN credit for hers
courage. Did you note how she challenged IRON MAGRU despite the 34 point difference
in their rankings? I must admit to some joy. Before my very eyes the underdog in
this contest, CALFSKIN, defeated IRON MAGRU to claim victory and recognition.
Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more
than its fair share of red in recent times. Some say a warrior is judged by the way
he bears arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
The girls are as pretty in ARUAK CITY as ever I remembered them....and the
fighters as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Sadly warriors, now longer can I
keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till
next we meet remember: a fool flies into a rage quickly and often. The wise are

Adie -- Well, shucks, it was so simply clear to us. A plunger is a lunger with less
initial aggression and more finesse. We suspect that is why they were called parry-
lungers. They can hold some of the defenses, especially dodge, of the lunger, but
enhance them with the parry. They can be offensive miracles, like a lunger, but
probably not as ultimately. We tend to be very choosy about plungers, and our most
successful have been small and skilled. A small amount of CON goes a long way,
enough to make them masters at the give and take. No need to be strong and powerful,
but, of course, any little extra helps. May need to fight like lungers early on
until reasonably developed (e.g. get some reasonable defense skills) then finding the
magic rhythm is so important. A lovely, lovely style (which at one time in the game

Summer Face-to-Face Tournament XXXV in St. Louis!
Our next summer FTF will be held in downtown St. Louis, July 29-31, 2005. It will be
at the Radisson Hotel & Suites, St. Louis (800-925-1395--ask for the Reality
Simulations room block). Room rates are $99.00 per night, 1-4 occupancy. The rooms
are blocked--please make your reservation by mid-June before the block is released!

Winter Face-to-Face Tournament XXXVI in Tempe!
Our next winter FTF will be held in Tempe, Arizona, January 20-22, 2006. It will be
held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Tempe, Arizona (480-894-7444), the same hotel as
last year by popular request. Room rates are $139.00 per night (same as last year!),
1-4 occupancy, which includes full cooked breakfast, complimentary manager's
reception, free airport shuttle, free parking, high speed internet (for extra charge),
fitness center, jacuzzi, and pool. The rooms are blocked--please make your
reservation soon before the block is released! (This is prime season for Phoenix, and
several people were unable to book rooms last year because they waited too long.)
