TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Stable War Chronicles [III. Crossroads After A Hangover.]
(The last we left off, the Rapscallions' Anna Thema died after her match with
the Chaos Carnival's Xiurhn. Bloodfeud was invoked, bringing us an exciting fight
between Fhai'tul and an unarmed Xiurhn. Fhai'tul revenged the Rapscallions' fallen,
and both warriors survived the day. The Rapscallions invoked bloodfeud again; this
time sending Chrun'chyn at Xiurhn. Chrun'chyn executed her in the second minute!)
The night of Chrun'chyn's fatal victory over Xiurhn brought the Rapscallions
stable to a state of mixed morales of high and low. On the one hand, there was the
double BF victories of Fhai'tul and Chrun'chyn. On the other hand, those victories
were but the fortunate effects from the unfortunate cause of their fellow
Rapscallions newby, Anna Thema. Typical of the Rapscallions credo--live daringly and
celebrate life for no other reason than just because (because you can never tell when
your last moment upon Alastari may be)--Noble Discord (mgr.) decided for a serious
morale booster by taking his remaining stable out to party like never before.
A carriage rounded up the warriors at the evening twilight. Fhai'tul,
Chrun'chyn, Villan, and Cheeky Madcap found themselves dropped near an alley. Villan
looked over a signboard hanging that read, "Back Alley Creighton's Cabaret."
Slapping Cheeky Madcap on the back, Villan grinned at his stable-mates, saying, "One
gold to a copper Noble Discord's in there." They all looked down the alley, seeing a
handful of welcoming wenches soliciting the entrance. Cheeky Madcap's eyes twinkled
at the prospect. Licking at his pointer- and pinky tips on one hand, he smoothed his
eyebrows in a single stroke, quipping as he headed down the alley, "Easy now, lads,
this may be a trap. I'll just go alone to scout for the boss...." "Yeah, right!"
the rest said as one as they cut each other off, high-stepping toward the cabaret.
Sure enough, once past the gauntlet of welcoming wenches, Fhai'tul spotted Noble
Discord concluding some sort of meet with what appeared like a fairly big man--though
his features were almost obscured by the deep-coweled hood he wore. Chrun'chyn's
attention had been more drawn to something else: that this was a disreputable,
bottom-of-the-barrel establishment. After the four warriors were seated with Noble
Discord, the drinks came hard and fast. Once the drinks loosened the guys up, and,
regardless of the cabaret's quality, everyone seemed to begin enjoying themselves,
Noble Discord announced for a toast.
"You all started this adventure with me from the bottom of the barrel, with
nowhere to go but up or bust. In a short few months we've lost two gladiators. When
Tungsten died, we sought no revenge--because, hell, none of us really liked the guy
anyway. But we liked Anna Thema! And revenge we did have--not once, but twice! For
the loss of Tungsten.... (They all drink and refill.) For the gain, and short time,
we had with Anna Thema.... (They all drink and refill.) For Fhai'tul's BF victory!
(They all drink and refill.) For Chrun'chyn's BF victory! (They all drink and
refill.) And what the hell, oe for the Chaos Carnival's fallen, Ciurhn.... (They all
hold their drinks up solemnly, then pour them on the floor, laughing. As Noble
Discord refills their rounds, he continues.) Finally, here's to the moment of now
and how you choose to meet it. To the moment of now!" (They all drink and refill.)
Then, Noble Discord leaned in, saying, "Last one for the road, men. We've done this
bottom-of-the-barrel. Time for us to bar-hop to the top... or at least, as far up
the chain of establishments we can manage." And with that, the night began with a
roar of laughter.
Unfortunately, they ended up becoming more than was tolerable in the official
eyes of the city. So, in the dungeon sat this motley crew for what turned out to be
a number of publicly disruptive and lewd acts. As each of the Rapscallions began
rousing from their stupors, they groaned out questions: "What happened?" "Where are
we?" "How'd we get here?" "Can anyone remember anything?" Their manager, a now
sober, albeit very hung-over, Noble Discord laid there, groggily realizing how this
predicament would interfere with the Chaos Carnival's bloodfeud rights against
Chrun'Chyn; but what could be done other than wait for the gates to open....
And open they did--three weeks later! To the chagrin of Noble Discord, he
learned of Nurgle (mgr. Chaos Carnival) publicly casting venemous asperations upon
the Rapscallions' name--largely for missing the first calling of the Carnival's
invoked BF. "So--this 'Nurgle' calls himself declaring war upon me and mine, eh?"
pondered Noble Discord as he began strategizing a war theater.
The first order was for Chrun'Chyn to avail himself at the next arena event,
with instructions to just come out of this BF alive. "Of course, win if you can,"
Noble Discord tells Chrun'Chyn, "but heed that your goal over the next few fights is
to scout the Carnival's ranks." Dismissing him, Noble Discord then prepared an olive
branch missive to Nurgle. The intent was to reason with this 'Nurgle' before things
get out of hand. "Should he receive not my olive branch missive well, then war shall
he reap--guerilla style. For we Rapscallions shall pursue every Chaos Carni beyond
the bloodfeuds, challenging with the sole mission to seek-and-destroy. He will rue
the day...." As Noble Discord entertained these thoughts, he realized he also needed
to recruit a new gladiator. "I think it's time I called in Ringo Mars...." (to be

SPY REPORT
Ready for some action-packed adventure, some thrills, chills and spills? Well
fergit it, cause this is the Spyreport for ARUAK CITY. I don't wanna hurt anybody's
feelings or anything, but GRANNY'S MENTALCASES really goofed with their 0-0-0. The
guys at ILLMATIC like really pulled together to get a 2-1-0 this turn, moving up by
4. What was the name of that team who got 5-0-0 this turn for a total 140-121-10 you
ask? (Sure) WRATHMEN DM 20's their name, and fighting's their game! MVP award for
KEISHA? WRATHMEN DM 20's proud of her after beating EMBEZZLING SCRIBE and getting 15
points. Talk about yer big time losers! COW BELL got smashed by PERIOD, and lost 12
points! BLUE BULLDOG thinks hers 11-2-1 and studly character is good enough to face
up to the Duelmaster. Any bets? Was that a tear I saw in BLUE BULLDOG's eye, as she
took over Duelmastership? And wasn't GAG HALFRUNT fit to be tied! Is the Duelmaster
really being a real snob to his teammates? Don't ask me!
So just why would someone becomes a warrior anyway? It can't be for these
really neat Spyreports can it? THE JOKER'S WILD was ARUAK CITY's most avoided team.
Is there some award for that? Hhmph! What kind of warriors are COLORIFIC? THE
JOKER'S WILD, an easy team to beat if I ever saw one, can't get them to accept an
invitation! Like, is DARK JESTER popular, or what? He was challenged the most in
all of ARUAK CITY! He's got a 11-8-0, is that good? People were asking me did UDDER
DELIGHT REALLY challenge THE GENESIS? (all right, maybe they didn't, but it sounded
good!) It wasn't a spectacular fight, or anything, but THE GENESIS wants me to write
about it since he beat UDDER DELIGHT. Satisfied?
Challenges, revenges, Bloodfeuds. All ARUAK CITY ever talks about is fighting!
Me, I'm more laid back. Pinch me, I must be dreaming!!! SILVER HAIR returns from
the Dark Arena, maybe a "little upset" at his COLORIFIC teammates... I hear CHAOS
CARNIVAL sent ANIKETOS to the Dark Arena. What, is that like not well-lit, or what?
DARK JESTER bloodfeuded (is that a word?) TANGERINE TURTLE for revenge over some
guy's bad fortune. Was it really worth it? What if they had a fight and nobody
showed up? I'd be out of a job, that's what!!!
I really didn't, you know, study when I was a kid. Who would've guessed I'd be
a famous Spyreporter? I'm getting tired of writing this stuff, so I'm calling it
