Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings Riztab,
It's been a while since a Dreamer has held the throne. It is an honor to be here
representing Sleepy and my Dreamer teammates. I would like to recognize Cat Tagious
for an excellent fight in the battle for the open throne.
Normally Sleepy requires his warriors to list challenges at this point. However,
Sleepy is allowing me to not challenge anyone this turn. There are six very worthy
wariors in Challenger Champions that merit consideration. Tom Smith has the highest
point total. Cat Scan has fought several (in Riztab and in tourneys) very
competitive fights with me. Dreb 3 is rumored to have the most powerful attack in
the land. Cat Tagious just fought in the title fight and I'm sure would like another
shot at it. Badger is going to AD, so he has proven himself worthy in Riztab to
fight for such an honor. Lastly, Dastardly Dan was the last Riztabian to defeat me.
We both have improved since then, so I'd expect a much closer fight with him. One
other warrior that I'd like a rematch with is the other Riztabian to defeat me, Sugar
Jane. She is a greatly underrated warrior and I'd expect her to start shooting up
the charts and be competing for duelmaster by the time the Alastari summer heat is at
its peak.
This turn my teammates will fight prior to my fight. Last week they started
celebrating a bit too soon (I fought first) and it showed in their fights. Expect
tougher matches with the other Dreamers this turn.
On last thought before closing, a thought I had long ago that I'd like to share now.
How can you prove whether at this moment we are sleeping, and all our thoughts are a
dream; or whether we are awake, and talking to one another in the waking state?

Well, what are you looking at, RIZTAB? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens
before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. Later days, BLOODSUCKERS, since HOUNDS
OF HELL took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. Now keep the
taverns open late tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for THE LAWMEN, whose 1-1-0
this turn dropped them by 6 into 8th. Ha! RIZTAB saw the first turn for TEAM FUZZ,
a 3-2-0, and some teams are scared, others are too arrogant to notice. Take note
friends, take note. I can just hear all the boasts coming in FORCE OF NATURE's next
personal ads. Their first turn they went 3-2-0. Of course, we're all terribly
impressed to see STANK SHANK win a fight and gain 35 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk,
ASTRO ASSASSIN beat BUB II and BUB II lost 12 points. You're breakin' my heart. And
if variety is the spice of life, RIZTAB may be getting bland, as PLATO stays top dog
in the city. The Swinging Aardvark, humph! I've tasted better ale at mortuaries.
Where do they get this stuff? From RIZTAB's trash dumps?
Well, let's take a look at some more misdeeds of you miserable sword-boys.
DREAMERS, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were this turn's most avoided team.
Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And it looks like HOUNDS OF HELL avoided
them the most this turn. What a pack of would be losers, if you ask me. Hmph.
TILLERITA was challenged more times this turn than the Duelmaster. Now was the DM
insulted or feared? Heh, heh. I guess I can give a little credit to MARIGOLD of THE
ARCHIVES for challenging up by 19 to DASTARDLY DAN. MARIGOLD lost to get 76 points
of recognition.
Some people like volunteer work in the hospitals. I volunteer for RIZTAB's
morgue. More variety. Gee, HIGH JINKS, ain't it past due for sending BADGER Dark
Arena? What took ol' '15-12-1' so long? Hope? Ha ha aha ha! And sending BOO to
the Dark Arena was supposed to be one of your better ideas, ALL HALLOW'S EVE? And
what a stunning loss we have here, boys and girls, FREAKY BARBER of TEAM GNASTY has
added the final loss to his 12-10-2. Tee hee! Nipped in the bud, you might say, was
HODAG of BLOODSUCKERS this turn. Course, I wouldn't say that, so much as have a
belly laugh. Heh heh. Titanium shields and bamboo daggers, guess what brave team is
developing these kinds of weapons?
What does the RIZTAB arena have in common with the inns? It's just as
comfortable to sleep in either place. Ha ha ha ha! Well, I've had enough of this
drivel, and I'm sure you have too. Off like a dirty shirt of padded leather. Paste

The Contract
[as retold by Hammer the WordSmith]
What had begun as a contract for swords and armor between a well known name in
the DM community and the former VC Captain/WordSmith and WeaponSmith of the Vendetta
Cartel Tarantula Tribe was destined to impact and altar the landscape of the dueling
community for years to come.
The following is but a condensed retelling of history in the making.
Hammer continued sipping his tankard of Elven Tonic as the mysterious hooded
figure quietly seated himself across the table from the Veteran Manager whose back
was against the wall; allowing for a subtle, but effective surveillance of the dimly
lit tavern.
Recent events in both Illis and North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena had stunned the DM
managerial world with the announcement that Hammer had resigned from his position as
a well respected member of the Vendetta Cartel Alliance.
Those managers and associates closest to Hammer were shocked and dismayed that
there seemed to be NO Rational Explanation for Hammer making such a seemingly
irrational, hasty and extremely illogical decision; by what seemed to be a spur of
the moment reaction following the Declaration of War by Hammer in the DM 47 P-ads.
This is what stirred the mysterious hooded figure to seek Hammer with a request
that would change the managerial course of both men; ultimately Rocking the
Managerial World of Alastari as a result of the forthcoming decisions reached by the
two Veterans.
Time passed swiftly as both Veteran Managers discussed how the landscape of the
DM game on the sands of Alastari had changed over the years both in Basic and Tourney
play; producing a new breed of managers who would of necessity band together in an
alliance with a common goal; waging war against antagonists while improving the
managerial skills of each participating member in their glorious quest for DM
excellence.
Hammer listened intently as his unexpected guest inquired about the situation in
North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena; revealing his desire to participate in the upcoming
Turf War 4 contest in DM 47 with an alliance that would accept him on a more

Here was a Veteran Manager, seeking the advice of Hammer regarding an alliance
to join on a permanent basis; plus extending a sword arm of friendship and requesting

The Iron in the Words of Hammer had produced this opportunity as a result of the
