question.
Zrof said, "Time is different in some other universes. It might not have been
thousands of years where the Demon Prince is now."
Doreg looked at the arenamaster, and his face went blank. For all practical
purposes, Zrof One-Eye was a Prince of Zukal just as he himself was, and it was folly
to reveal one's feelings to another prince. They might be allies at the moment, but
the princes of Zukal were always rivals. "You speak as though you know," he said.
Zrof nodded. "I do know. Not all, not for sure where the Demon Prince may be
found, but...I know something. Where to start looking."
Doreg stiffened, his face becoming, if anything, blanker. He was the youngest
of the Bandit Princes, he was Rirorni, he was relatively new to his rank and even to
the city of Zukal. He knew that some of the princes resented him, were more than
rivals. "Do the others know--?"
Zrof shook his head. "They know nothing at all about the Demon Prince. Many of
them don't even know there ever was such a man. Some wouldn't believe it, and none
of them can be of any use in this. The places where we will need to go to find the
Demon Prince are not for the old and those who are set in their ways. You and I.
Perhaps a gladiator or two...." He frowned. "If such can be found."
SPY REPORT
If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
RIZTAB brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Later days, BLOODSUCKERS, since ARENA
FELINES took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. Now keep the
taverns open late tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for BLOODSUCKERS, whose
0-0-0 this turn dropped them by 7 into 8th. Ha! CASTLE turned their 3-2-0 turn into
a 3rd place rank in the listings this turn. Any better than this, and you get put on
hit lists. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to see THUNDER CAT win a fight
and gain 15 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, THUNDER CAT beat ROBESPIERRE and ROBESPIERRE
lost 11 points. You're breakin' my heart. Looks like RIZTAB has some guts at least,
LUIGI the Duelmaster was this turn's most-challenged warrior. MEOW MIX challenged
RIZTAB's Duelmaster for a shot at the throne. And if variety is the spice of life,
RIZTAB may be getting bland, as LUIGI stays top dog in the city. The Welcome Wench,
humph! I've tasted better ale at mortuaries. Where do they get this stuff? From
RIZTAB's trash dumps?
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. DREAMERS, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were
this turn's most avoided team. Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And it
looks like HOUNDS OF HELL avoided them the most this turn. What a pack of would be
losers, if you ask me. Hmph.
Some people like volunteer work in the hospitals. I volunteer for RIZTAB's
morgue. More variety. Honor is like a chainmail shirt, it only shines through use.
Certain nameless cowards will doubtless rebuke me on this one.
There's got to be a better place in RIZTAB to get a drink than The Welcome
Wench! Any suggestions? Well, I've had enough of this drivel, and I'm sure you have

Lord Protector Anarchy of Castle -- Tell me you don't really want lands? You'd have
to pay taxes on 'em. You'd either have to live on the land, which would be no picnic
given what kind of land I can find on the rolls, or put in a tenant, and any tenant
who would rent any of THAT land would be, well, not someone even Tokken Makrok would
trust. Uh, that didn't come out exactly the way I meant it--Makrok doesn't trust
anybody. But if you really, really want lands (as opposed to a reserved seat on the
aisle at the arena, for instance), Makrok says that he has instructed a land
speculator by the name of Bennetto (from Tricorus, they say, which is, as everyone
knows, a den of liars and thieves) to find something. I believe I heard a mention of
"secluded, backwoods locations," which, from what I can tell, means you have to drive
off the bears, the wolves, and the Shews, and then you find out it's straight up and
down and the only way to clear it is to start a forest fire, at which point the Shews
will come back and stomp your guts out. I wouldn't recommend it. But if you want to

HAMMER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Be it known from the highest mountains to the darkest alleys of Alastari that
the veteran manager known far and wide as Hammer has now officially retired from
sponsoring contests as of September 15, 2005.
What a long time ago was a fun motivated activity to help promote our common
DM/D2 gaming interest in an effort to promote the growth and competitiveness of
selected arenas has become a far from fun experience.
In other words Hammer has had it!
The combination of real life situations interfering with the time needed to
effectively sponsor a contest, plus the attitudes expressed during such sponsorship
interference has led to Hammer closing his personal coin coffers and retiring from
his planned sponsorship of any future contests.
There are others in our close knit gaming community who are well able to step up
to the plate and continue sponsoring contests that make the basic game a fun
experience for all those who choose to compete and interact in such future endeavors.
Hammer thanks all managers both active and inactive who helped to make the
Hammer sponsored contests a historical and entertaining experience well worth the
time, effort and money spent over the past several years.
May the Cheers and the Jeers of future contests build upon the legacies of those
who have paved the way in years gone by to help make this game what it is today.
Hammer has no regrets for the part he has played in that history.
