Notes from the arena champ.
The fools! (small f, big !) are torn. They love cheering me on but are at odds with
my newfound success. All of a sudden we're not the trampled upon underclass get'm-
next-time type who ends up delightfully smooshed picking sand outten our teeth. You
know, someone they can identify with. All of a sudden we're fer real champs and it's
kinda taken the wind outten their sails. Thrown 'em for a loop don'ja know...

SPY REPORT
Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly RIZTAB games. There were bitter words at NIGHT
STALKERS' guildhouse after a 0-0-0 showing this week which dropped the stable into
16th. Dark Arena anyone? Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the
corner! Witness how this week ERRATA went 2-0-0 to move up 5 in the rankings. Did
only my eyes note the 4-1-0 record which DREAMERS managed to post this round? I
don't doubt that such a record will draw challengers! A new guild, BULBS, entered
RIZTAB with a clash this turn, showing off a 3-1-1 record. Indeed, a worthy addition
to the city guilds. TILLERITA caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission
as she skillfully bested LEXAYN and was awarded 25 points in recognition. In one of
the week's more notable duels, MONKEY put down MESCALINE MAN II, causing him to lose
21 points of recognition in the process. This time out MARX made his bid for the
throne as he challenged INSIGHTFULL INGIE in an all out contest of skill for
possession of the title! The city has turned out in honor of MARX, for with his
arena victory he may now lay claim to the highest position in the city! Informants
"close" to the city champion have told me that he never fights without pantyhose on
beneath his armor. Watch out!
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. I saw one fighter that warriors
avoided when this week's challenge seeking began. ARENA FELINES is feared. This
much I can say. Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent
the better part of last week avoiding ARENA FELINES. Indeed it was HIGH JINKS.
Mighty fighters cannot but expect competition from those below. FELINE GRIN take
warning! You have more than a few enemies in RIZTAB. I cannot but express pride for
the fearlessness of AGGRANDIZIN ANNE who cast caution to the winds and challenged
FELINE GRIN, a fighter 26 points higher. The HIGH JINKS stable will be up late
tonight, for indeed it was AGGRANDIZIN ANNE who claimed victory in the contest,
ascending 31 in recognition! A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games this
week, it seems that JIMMY CRACKCORN posted a challenge against the more highly
recognized TALA GOG. The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand JIMMY CRACKCORN was
beat by TALA GOG. Remember warriors, this is the discipline of steel.
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? This week marked the last days of DOOZY who at 8-5-0 was dispatched
to the Dark Arena by the command of HIGH JINKS' demanding management. Dark alleys
may hide both secrets and assassins. In the arena there is only the brightness of
steel. Keep vigil always!
If it were not for my skills as a spy I would have been mugged three times
already in RIZTAB. Nice atmosphere you have here! Sadly warriors, now longer can I
keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till

P.S. I've already had them on my case over the simple question of buttons.
(shuddering again) I TOLD them those weren't pearl buttons, just ordinary plebian

"it's too coarse a cloth, and such a blah color, too!, for pearl buttons, and you
should know better, dear." Well, I DID know better, and I did NOT use pearl buttons,
but they're still keeping their beady (faceted jet) little eyes on me.
Robespierre -- No, no, you can't DO that. Not purple velvet in the arena, especially
not with red trim. Setting aside the fact that it is surpassingly ugly (the Fashion
Police don't care about that! As if!), purple isn't YOU. And you'll find it very
hard to clean, too. The bloodstains will not "go with" the red trim, they will turn
