DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Well, Governator, look at that: my random matchups have afforded you 2/3 of
your losses! Too bad, eh? My challenge(s) goes out to, to, YOU! AGAIN! What a
surprise!
Ruth, more or less, Duelmistress
SPY REPORT
Greetings, warriors of MALCORN! Once again I've been called out of retirement
for my abilities and insights into Spyreporting. What's with FALLING RAIN? She
actually beat MALCORN's EMBEZZLING SCRIBE, and walked away with 20 more points from
the fight. Laughs were big at TRIPLE CROWN while they watched CHARISMATIC clobber
STALKING HORSE. He lost 8 points and got bruised from objects thrown from the
stands. VENOMOUS CONCUBINE was reminded on the sands why RUTHLESS is Duelmaster.
Advice to fighters with a 1 will--give up fighting!
No matter the time or place, men will always duel. MALCORN thinks POLITICALY
INCORRECT and their 27-17-0 is too much! If at first you don't succeed, give up...
Management must be dealin', as the boys at TRIPLE CROWN ain't reelin'! POLITICALY
INCORRECT's mad! What do people see in WOODWALKER? His 14-29-1? GREENWARDENS ain't
talkin', but he's got 72 points. Fighting is a better craft than farming,
WOODWALKER, but you have to pay your dues. Being challenged by LITTLE CURRENT, 33
points above you, is dues. LITTLE CURRENT defeated WOODWALKER. I bet LITTLE CURRENT
could beat two-year-olds, too. Well, GREENWARDENS knows who to set their sights on.
There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters
to walk away, or not? Here's some advice: study your opponent, master many skills,
fight dirty.
Well, I'm pretty much through. You guys need to get back practicing. All work
and no play makes Olaf a dull fighter. Work and play no fighter dull Olaf.
Olaffighterwork and no play. I don't want to overstay my welcome...-- Olaf Modeen

PERSONAL ADS
Wooden Arrow -- You are partially right. I cannot reveal my true mission, nor can I
reveal the success, or lack of, that I've had. We have not shared an update in quite
a while with our home base, but I'm sure if you've read the original, from back in
the archives, you can get an idea. How you know as much as you know...is beyond me!
You are not a spy eh? You are one of those shape shifters...are you not? You're not
interested in plane walking are you? -- Mortikhan
Little Current -- Amazing. I knew I was likely to die on the sands, but I never
expected to be electrocuted! It was shocking, totally shocking. Okay, it wasn't
really such a surprise, except that I lasted this long. But I got to thinking, two
years, okay, maybe I'm going to make it. And then--ZZZap! I'm dead. Odd, really.
-- Ghost of Stormcloud
Charismatic -- That may work with some people, but not me. Charisma turns me off.
Well, actually, it must turn me on in some ways, because it makes me twitchy. And
besides--don't laugh--I think I may be allergic to horses! -- Stalking Horse,
sneezing
Lil E. Tee -- (sigh) Horses and standbys, and why couldn't *I* get a standby? I
wouldn't have minded. You wouldn't catch ME complaining about thieves and such, no
you would NOT. (heavier sigh) -- Greengrove
P.S. This is some kind of prelude or foretaste of losing my winning record, isn't
it?
Well, nobody TOLD me I had to learn Kung-Fu. I thought I just had to learn regular
Shewish fighting, and I can DO that. -- Woodwalker the unprepared
I do not complain of fighting the Convicted Thief. The Thief deserved to be beaten
up, and I did it. I look upon it as a public service. -- Wooden Arrow
Ed. -- I will make you an honorary rightie. -- Woodwalker
My heart goes pitter-pat. -- Ed.
Ed. -- Re the echo and acoustic tile, do you think you could convince the Commission
that banking the sides of the arena with bales of hay is not an acceptable
substitute? Setting aside little details like hay fever, and a serious reduction of
the size of the fighting floor due to the encroaching bales, it makes this place look
ridiculous. Um, more ridiculous than it already does. -- Jorja
It's one of those eco-friendly things and I think you're stuck with it for the
time being. -- Ed.
Woodwalker -- You depend too much on strength of the body, grasshopper. Your will
hesitates and is lost when this is not enough. -- Ta Di Ta, Master of Kung-Fu
Stormcloud -- And on my challenge, yet. SORRY! -- Little (a lot, sorry) Current
Stalking Horse -- You gotta give me ONE thing: I DID lose composure and cry out in
pain! -- Charismatic
Greengrove -- Lucky for me, agreed? -- Li'L E. Tee
Stormcloud -- Why, I'd swallow it, of course. -- Ruthless
17 July 2004
I am currently trying to put together a favorites chart for AD warriors. I
desperately need help with this. What I need are style, favorite rhythm (ex.:
hi/low), favorite weapons, and tactics. What would be great is if you could send me
a copy of the invite with the warrior's name, id#, and arena blacked out. This way,
I can verify that this is an actual warrior. Minis will work, too!
For those interested, I have both a challenge style vs. style and a match-up style
vs. style chart. There's about 250 fights calculated in these charts, and I'll be
happy to send a copy to anyone who asks. You can contact me (if you're a free world
player) at: Rick Stringer, Merit/East, SCI, P.O. Box 500, Georgetown, DE 19947-0500.
If you're in prison, just send a diplo to: Baphomet, Mgr. Knights Templar (568), DM
#47--North Fork. (I also have a lot of other charts and info for anyone who wants
it.) Thanks!
30 July 2004
The total number of fights calculated was reported as 250 fights. This is a
misprint. It should have read "over 2,500 fights." -- Baphomet

Our next Winter Face-to-Face will be held on Martin Luther King weekend, Friday
through Sunday, 14-16 January 2005, at the Embassy Suites in Tempe, Arizona (4400 S
Rural Rd--this is the same hotel as last year). Room rates are $139.00 per night,
1-4 occupancy, which includes breakfast. The rooms are blocked. The reservations
number is 480-897-7444; tell them you're with the "Reality Simulations Face to Face
Convention" block. Our room block will be released in mid-December, so please make
sure you reserve your room before then!
Room rates include a full cooked-to-order breakfast and a complimentary two-hour
manager's reception. There is a free shuttle to the airport, as well as free parking.
The hotel is located down the freeway in Tempe. All rooms have high speed internet
(for an extra charge). There is a fitness center, jacuzzi, and pool, and of course a

street. Look for transportation info in the tournament information sheet.
The tournament information sheet/strategy sheet should be out sometime in late
November/early December.
If you haven't been to a Face-to-Face before, you're overdue. If you have,
you'll be back. Don't miss this one, it'll be a blast! See you there!
