Notes from the arena champ.
Subjects of Malcorn, REJOICE! I, Go And Go, challenged, Went And Went, and now
am Here And Here, at the very top of this very fine arena with very few teams. When
approaching to address me, kindly Bow And Bow.
Go And Go,
Duelmaster & Chartered Recognition Leader
SPY REPORT
Greetings, warriors of MALCORN! Once again I've been called out of retirement
for my abilities and insights into Spyreporting. What's with MEAT GRINDER? He
actually beat WEST COAST WARRIORS' OBMF, and walked away with 14 more points from the
fight. Major screwup at DARK CREATION. XANE REAVER lost 8 points to GREENGROVE.
Some new strategies, perhaps? Maybe XANE REAVER will provide more easy wins...
NYARLATHOTEP was reminded on the sands why GO AND GO is Duelmaster. Wouldn't it be
nice to have live subjects to practice on? I hear some team is looking into the uses
of convicted prisoners.
If at first you don't succeed, avoid. That'll get you in the Spyreports. How
well I know the feeling of being in the most avoided team! Don't fall out of
practive, TRIPLE CROWN! In my day, no team with a 320-245-17 would scare me off!
What's the problem, DARK CREATION? What do people see in GREENGROVE? His 17-22-0?
GREENWARDENS ain't talkin', but he's got 82 points. I hate going to the effort of
writing about the kind of fights that SLAYVER gets in. He fights people like
CLEAVER, 9 points below. I thought SLAYVER showed great skill and promise when he
bested CLEAVER. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
A fighter's lot is filled with strife, revenge, and killing. Some fighters
don't accept this. The best do. Yeah, yeah, PUPPET killed LOOKOUT, who was "too
young to die." Well, it was a fighter, and that's what you have to face. How long
have I been here? I got people to see, places to go...
Many other cities have retirement homes for aged warriors. Any plans here? The
end of another Spyreport! That's cause for celebration in my book! Remember--a good
fighter needs both good skills and good luck. Until next time,-- Olaf Modeen

PERSONAL ADS
Sultan -- Thank you for the welcome to Malcorn, it's always nice to have one's
presence recognized. Your reputation precedes you though, and if what I hear is
true, my avoids won't be necessary. *devilish grin* -- Dr. Seuss
All -- We will be taking a short break as I am relocating the stable. Sorry for any
challenges that wont go through. -- Zeus
Cleaver -- What's your secret? A basher that dodges, parries, ripostes, hits
targeted locations with awesome damage! I don't get it! I managed over 100 warriors
and more than half a dozen teams, in over 14 years and I never thought I would see a
basher doing what you're doing! Stop it. It makes me look bad. I suppose I'll
never get rid of this rookie status. -- Zeus
Hmmm. Go and Go, Charismatic, Greengrove, Nya. I know who I WON'T be fighting. --
Blackwind
Whirlaway -- Anytime you wanna throwdown old school ( no weapons), you just let me
know. -- Boxxer
Cleaver -- Pure luck. -- Forever
Greengrove -- Don't ever try and get the jump on me again...or next time I won't be
so nice. -- Blackwind
Xane Reaver -- I'd like a rematch, look for one in the near future. -- Indemos
Sultan -- Thank you for the welcome and the challenge. If I am "in your sights" then
that must mean that I'm being held at fully-extended arm's length while you peer down
your nose through some bifocal specs. Old age will do that do you. However, the
reputation of your managerial skill is well-known all through the lands, so I doubt
that any avoids will be required. -- Dr. Seuss
Medium Rare -- That is an excellent way to prepare green eggs & ham. Medium rare
with some Tabasco sauce and sourdough toast. Yumm. -- Green Eggs & Ham
Green Eggs & Ham, they taste the best,
they taste better than the rest.
You will like them medium rare.
You should eat them, if you dare.
Lookout -- Wow, yer a biggun, ain'tcha? Does your mama know that you managed to get
the barn unlocked, get yourself out, and are wandering around town? She's probably
worried sick. -- Bartholomew
Blackwind -- I suppose I should consider myself lucky to have survived that.
(wincing) I don't feel lucky at the moment. -- Greengrove
Charismatic -- And a fond farewell to you, old friend. -- Wooden Arrow
P.S. I am fortunate enough to have inherited a share in a farm to the west of town.
My brothers say the hunting is good. Care to come along and try it out?
Jolly Roger -- I tell you what, it's HEARTLESS the way you laughed. You could at
least of shared the joke. -- Jessalin
P.S. After I recovered.
Butcher -- (recoiling) You didn't have to come to the arena reeking of blood. It
put me off my stroke. -- Pebble
P.S. Us werecats have sensitive noses.
Manager of Dark Creation -- Why should I have to clean up your Putrid Corpse? It was
filthy and, in a word, putrid. It should have been buried, not sent into the arena.
It was an insult to me, was it not? You think you have someone in your stable--and
believe me when I say that your "warriors" belong in a stable, at best, who can
defeat ME? You are mistaken. -- Derrik Marod, the Bandit Prince of Malcorn
Manager of Dark Creation -- Derrik may have phrased his protest a bit strongly, but
you should realize that warriors on the brink of death are very suggestible. Giving
them such names as "Putrid Corpse" is just asking for trouble. -- Arenamaster Landon
Slayver -- It was unnerving watching the drool ooze from your lips. It quite put me
off my stroke. Don't do that again. Be firm. Keep your mouth shut. Slavering is
not necessary, or desirable, in the matter of projecting a fearsome facade. -- Dahven
s'Lindj, Merchant (only these silly Malcorni would call my interest rate userous)
Little Puppet -- To use my "teammate" Dahven's phrase, that was not necessary. It
was not desirable. It was, in fact, damned expensive for me. Do you know what that
will do to my insurance rate? Gods, I can barely pay for the Resurrection Insurance
policy as it is. Do NOT do that to me again. -- Keo Larien, late of Mordant
Obmf -- Is that a name? It sounds more like a code. Or like you had a code, I mean,
a cold when you said it. -- Shillany
P.S. I didn't mean to take your wallet. I couldn't help myself.
Puppet -- You could have tossed me a copper after the fight, couldn't you? -- Ralgi
P.S. I'm not a beggar by CHOICE, you know. But when the lower tunnels were flooded
out and the demons moved in--this was near Murska--well, a lot of us found ourselves
not only out of work but homeless. It's hard for a proud dwarf to beg, so you'd
better straighten up and give, dammit.
Wooden Arrow -- You just HAD to do me one more time, didn't you. Begone!, aimer. --
Charismatic, teepee...er
Nyarlathotep -- I won??? THAT's a challenge I won't be making again anytime soon! --
Go And Go
All -- Hello, figured I'd better say something. I am back after about an eight year
layoff. Formally known as Boogie's Bandits, but I thought new team, new name. Good
to be back. Having fun. See ya on the sands. -- The Butcher
West Coast Warriors -- After these first few rounds I'm kind of confused? With names
like Puppet, Little Puppet, J.D. and OBMF I can't figure out if you are a street gang
or a Sesame Street rerun? Go to be Sesame Street, without Oscar the Grouch. He's
tough. -- The Butcher
Starbase 5 -- I didn't want to start my career with a bloodfeud, but it's not so bad
after all. One more round to survive (or win). -- Cleaver

HAMMER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Be it known from the highest mountains to the darkest alleys of Alastari that
the veteran manager known far and wide as Hammer has now officially retired from
sponsoring contests as of September 15, 2005.
What a long time ago was a fun motivated activity to help promote our common
DM/D2 gaming interest in an effort to promote the growth and competitiveness of
selected arenas has become a far from fun experience.
In other words Hammer has had it!
The combination of real life situations interfering with the time needed to
effectively sponsor a contest, plus the attitudes expressed during such sponsorship
interference has led to Hammer closing his personal coin coffers and retiring from
his planned sponsorship of any future contests.
There are others in our close knit gaming community who are well able to step up
to the plate and continue sponsoring contests that make the basic game a fun
experience for all those who choose to compete and interact in such future endeavors.
Hammer thanks all managers both active and inactive who helped to make the
Hammer sponsored contests a historical and entertaining experience well worth the
time, effort and money spent over the past several years.
May the Cheers and the Jeers of future contests build upon the legacies of those
who have paved the way in years gone by to help make this game what it is today.
Hammer has no regrets for the part he has played in that history.
19 September 2005
I'd like to say hello to everyone I know that is still around after my being gone for
five years. Hope to see you all on the sands, and may your weapons strike true and
your shields protect you (except, of course, against MY warriors *grin*)!! -- Lord
Xiang, D2-101
