DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Well, Malcorn. It's great to be here...Still. Don't get me wrong, I really DO want
to stay. So I am trying my hardest...even if it means to "throw" the fight. I mean
I even tried to go all out and fight like a lunger with crazy weapons and the sort!
I mean, I don't want to give the wrong impression to all the Duelmaster wannabe's and
all my fans...but come on. It does make the fight interesting, right! It gets
pretty boring just standing there...ALL the time. Anyone can hide behind a shield!
But can they hide behind...a blade of GRASS!? Well I would try it if I was allowed.
A blade's a blade you know. Hey, I never said I was the sharpest bowling ball in the
alley. Anyway, to show my sincerity, I am going Aimed Blow hunting. So, I'll count
to ten, and then I'm gonna come for YOU! Uhm...Yea...Homunculus, I'm talkin about
you. Don't be scared. Although 40,000 lashes of a blade of grass could add up to
one serious paper cut eh! -- Strada
SPY REPORT
Good day, in MALCORN a quiet thief gets rich, but a quiet spymaster gets poor.
So bring me ale and harken to my tidbits of news. It seems the training can make the
difference, as DARK CREATION is pushed out of top team by BLOODSWORN, who came from
2nd with a 5-0-1 this turn. And let's see, BOSS fought WIND RIDER and gained 21
points and contributed to STARBASE 5's 3-2-0. WIND RIDER has lost to BOSS, falling
18 points, while helping make GREENWARDENS a 0-5-0 turn. Defending his title for
another turn, STRADA kept GREENWARDENS' warrior, PATTERSON PINE, from claiming the
throne. By the way, was that our Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the
table at Drake's Barbecue?
Oriental wise man once say, 'Hiding behind shields prevents proper sun tanning.'
Inscrutable, but true.
We only live a short time in this world, so why not take a sharp blade, and
shave it close? We'd like to remind certain teams not to rob the graves of their
enemies. You know who you are; and it's considered rude.
I like this place, MALCORN, the taverns have old wine, and young serving girls.
Who could ask for more? Always good to rest in MALCORN, but never good to wear out
my welcome. Look for me in future turns. Until you see my quill in MALCORN again,
farewell-- Alarond the Scribe

Lutherax -- Quit now? And give you the satisfaction? NEVER! -- The Rukh
Azazel -- I bet you say that to all the total parries. Dont try to hide behind
compliments! It adds to your weakness of having any attack skills. -- Strada
P.S. I bet I could swing that axe with more grace than you! HA!
Wind Rider -- Short stuff! Hmphh! Who you callin short stuff! Why I oughta.... --
Your...Boss!
Horrorscar -- Well, I went into that fight with a half frame of mind you see...I
thought I was gonna really whallop ya a good one right...and then I looked at your
face...and Whoaa! What the....happened to your face man? You really should wear a
FULL helm to keep your opponents from going into shock like I did. At least then
they would stand half a chance. Or maybe they won't drink so much before the fight.
Well, think about it, would ya? -- The Piper
Redbird -- Sober! Are you crazy!? *takes a few swigs* Well, I hear all birds must
be crazy...cause lemme tell you why. *takes a few more swigs* Ya see...I just
walked out of the pub from puttin a mirror glaze on my shield ya see, and all of a
sudden I hear a big *THUD*, and if I hadn't tied one on, I would've thought I'd saw a
bird fly directly into my nicely polished shield. *..and a few more* I mean come
on!..What are ya thinkin! *empties the bottle* Just open yer eyeballs when ya fly

Our turn envelope burst open in the post office (or so I'm told, I wasn't there), and
a lot of turns fell out. Some--not all--of the fights and other pages showed up at
the guildhouse about five days later. If there's something missing from our
personals, blame it on the post office, okay? We're doing our best here. -- Jorja,
Greenwardens
Somnabulant -- Whoa! "Unorthodox," and still you won. I don't usually get tired so
fast, so it must have been some aura of somnolenicity that you were projecting.
Seems unfair for the arenamaster to be disgusted, I was doing my best, you were doing
your best, and there it was. Oh, well, at least he isn't the one signing my
paycheck. -- Patterson Pine
Vitae -- The crowd approved when we started hacking at each other? What's WITH
people these days? Grave interest, okay, but approval? This is the kind of thing
that makes you embarrassed to be human. Of course, you aren't human, are you? I
don't count a half-elf as human, because no one's telling what the OTHER half is, you
could be half orc for all I know. Huh, the way you behaved, you probably ARE half
orc. -- Mossrock
P.S. I'd done better if it hadn't been for that prayer on my lips. I couldn't
breathe past the darned thing.
Angeltear -- I'm not like Mossrock, wondering why the crowd "approves" of our match.
I don't have to wonder, I know. Those bums in the stands like to see a couple of
babes fighting each other. What we should do is, forget fighting each other, fight
side by side to give those lazy, bloodthirsty, chauvinistic bums a taste of what it's
all about. What do you think, you game? We could catch 'em the Black Shew's Retreat
at closing time and really mow 'em down. -- Redbird
Boss -- Whoa! When was the fight? I've never one-shotted anyone before, that I can
remember. Weird. I'm glad it was fast, but...it was so fast! I didn't have time to
learn a thing from it. -- Wind Rider
P.S. Were you using the "surrender if desperate" strategy? Just wondering, because
I've heard about it, but never "after the fact," so to speak.
Hum, this Convicted Thief is kind of a tough cookie, isn't he? But I think it was a
good match. He taught me some things. I'll be ready for whoever is next, you bet!
-- Stump
P.S. But he's awfully foul-mouthed. Can't something be done about this?
Dark Creation -- Thank you. And good luck to all of yours, as well. -- Jessalin
