On board the Crysiste:
Tycron slammed his fist onto the table. "Just where in the hell are my new
warriors?!" he yelled.
"Apparently they've been held up by something, sir," Colonel Trill responded.
"Hopefully we can get contact with them soon enough."
"Tycron, you seemed angry at more than just an empty stable," Ket interjected.
Tycron took a deep breath and became his usual cool self. "Pardon me, Ket. I
have been reflecting on the latest posting on the arena gates. While I was initially
proposing a simple, temporary alliance for this so-called 'vengeance' against
Wednesday, it seems that his manager has taken the event quite personally and his
considering the rivalry to now be a war. I suppose it's fair enough. Be warned, my
fighters, Diaretic has been in this arena longer and he can be quite charismatic to
others, so our allies may be few to begin with. But they will be strong allies if
they come to our side. Not wishing to be cloak and dagger about this, I will also be
posting in my old Noblish Island arena asking other managers to further our cause and
to enhance the Willaf arena in general."
"What about Jorja?" Colonel Trill asked. "She seems to be on good terms with
you."
"Jorja is on good terms with everyone. I don't feel there's any need to get her
involved, although if she wishes to do so I will not stand in the way. Get some
rest, my few warriors. We shall fight again soon."
The next morning, a posting on the arena gates:
I, Tycron of TYCRON'S MERCS, once again have the pleasure of speaking to you. A
certain manager has formed a foundation that is suggesting that TP's be banned. Let
me tell you that to all of the wise managers out there that this is an absurd idea.
The argument is that TP's are winning too much, so they should be removed. Following
this convention will mean that warriors who would initially make great TP's will
instead be given other, less efficient styles, resulting in more losses. A TP win is
not a cheap win. In fact, one of the greatest aspects of the TP is that they are one
of the few styles that can challenge warriors of greater experience and still hold
their own. Managers who like to challenge and win find TP's as a useful tool. Once
again, let me emphasize that a win is a win is a win, regardless of style. I find it
far more satisfying to have my opponent utterly exhausted and defeated rather than
having a striker place just a single blow.
I urge you to ignore this convention that Diaretic has proposed. Once again, my
original posting on these gates still stands. Wednesday has moved a little closer to
the 40% win line, although the loss this time was a result of a challenge Diaretic
issued. I will be looking forward to anyone who will assist me in this cause, in
which of course, the benefit is mutual.

"WAR WAGING UPON THE HORIZON..."
Dark clouds rolled across the endless border, and mild hits of thunder here and
there miles away, the Dark Warriors practiced intensely and contemplated on their
strategy on their skills and how to make names for themselves in their new homeland.
Lin Maeharra had taken up waitressing as a bar maid, splendidly she looked in all her
oriental glory as her black hair flowed and slanted eyes, and the most beautiful body
you've ever seen...Leena Windsong, in her late teens, really unsure of age, truly had
seen a lot of violence in her life already, which is how she became so aggressive,
the rest about her is unclear. Cutting Edge had recently his first win...and kill.
His stomach quenched cause he had never had to kill anybody, but his life was in
turmoil. Cutting Edge had learned an amazing thing about human adrenaline when one's
life is in trouble. Crusher, well...we are still unsure it he has a conscience or
not. He or it doesn't to seem to be the very brightest when it comes to self defense
for something so hulking huge as it is. Somehow, Crusher was created by an evil
wizard upon the watch towers over the mountains and created to lift and do manual
labor for the scrawny wizard, but had managed to escape...although unsure of what the
glow around the 6'8" golem is, obviously the wizard had cast a mysterious spell on
him. A war is presently waging upon us all...and we must get prepared.

Malcorn:
The Prince of Malcorn listened carefully as Fist of Kjarran and his companions
described the monster on the road to Murska, what it had done up till now and how
they had dealt with it. When Fist repeated Cadal's statement that the matter was not
settled and could not be settled in simple combat, the prince sighed and nodded.
"That's true," he admitted. "The dregur can be driven off with steel, but they can't
be finally settled that way. It takes magic to bind and unbind them, because an
essential part of their nature is magical."
Stiffly, Aghtamar said, "We heard that it was you who set them loose
originally--"
"For what I considered good and sufficient reason, yes, I did," Malcorn agreed.
"How many invaders did you encounter on the road here from Korga?"
"Invaders?" The Korgan woman shook her head, puzzled. "None. I hear they're
pulling out all along the coast, going back to their homelands, I suppose, and about
time!"
"About time," Malcorn agreed. "It was the dregur who finally convinced them of
that. Not all dregur are criminals like the one you fought, probably no more than
might be found in a similar group of humans. I made an agreement, which the
responsible leaders of the dregur entered into fully and fairly. They will help us
deal with the few among them who are criminal."
"They'll...help?" Zilla asked faintly. "Wonderful. Just wonderful."
"They said they'd clean up their own snakes." The gladiators turned to peer
into the dark corner. The man sitting there, who had been so silent he hadn't been
noticed, was plainly a Karnhorn. A Karnhorn of a familiar type--by his clothing,
which was fashionable but not highly so, and very plainly made, a man of the lower
ranks of the nobility, and impoverished, Aghtamar decided. Probably a minor
bureaucrat. Which made his presence here, on terms of familiarity with the Prince of
Malcorn, a puzzle. Not her puzzle to solve, she hoped.
"I know they did, Tiljanz, and I believe they intend to do so," Malcorn replied.
"But I don't see any harm in providing them with...witnesses to their fulfillment of
the agreement."
"To make sure they have no second thoughts?" Tiljanz asked. He sounded a little
amused, but only a little. "No harm in that," he agreed. "I shall certainly go
along to see that the terms of the agreement are met."
"No offense intended," Fist said quickly, "but this will be a job for warriors.
You don't look like--"
"I am not a warrior," the young Karnhorn answered calmly. "And I take no
offense at your warning, intended as it is to preserve my life. But life is not
enough, there must be self-respect, as well."
"Tiljanz al Burgos is as steady a man as you'll find," Malcorn cut in. "He
won't run, and he won't get in your way. We'll take him with us."
"With...us?" Aghtamar asked faintly.
"Yes, I'm coming, too," the Prince of Malcorn answered.
Fist of Kjarran had expected to leave immediately, or at least first thing the
next morning. But two full days passed before Lord Malcorn and the Karnhorn
bureaucrat were ready to go. Two days during which he considered going without them.
But there were always several Shews, large, Lord Protector Shews, standing between
him and the door when those thoughts came to him.
And then when they did finally set out, Fist of Kjarran, Aghtamar, Zilla, Cadal,
Malcorn, and Tiljanz al Burgos, Fist found himself wishing that some of those big,
tough-looking Shews were coming, too.
SPY REPORT
Good day, in WILLAF a quiet thief gets rich, but a quiet spymaster gets poor.
So bring me ale and harken to my tidbits of news. Now keep the taverns open late
tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for BROWN'S BLADES, whose 0-4-0 this turn
dropped them by 6 into 11th. THUNDER CLAP stable has parlayed this turn's 3-0-0 into
a 7 space move up the rankings. This brings them up to 3rd place. Good work, guys!
The SILK AND STEEL guild has had a 4-1-0 turn and deserves to be watched in the
future. You never know where this kind of thing can lead. And let's see, GELRON
fought B'EKA STORMEYE and gained 25 points and contributed to SILK AND STEEL's 4-1-0.
B'EKA STORMEYE has lost to GELRON, falling 18 points, while helping make BROWN'S
BLADES a 0-4-0 turn. ROWARDENN challenged for the Duelmastership this turn,
attempting to dethrone PHOENIX's warrior. And not without some honor, ROWARDENN now
claims the title and throne of Duelmaster of WILLAF. Tell me, is nothing sacred? I
have heard from unimpeachable sources that The Dripping Blade uses trolls in their
stew. Talk about gristle!
The crowd's roar, the smell of iron and leather, mixed with sweat, what more
could a warrior ask of life? Well, besides that. BLACKHEART'S AXE has cause to
stand tall, as they were WILLAF's most avoided team. A smart manager knows this is a
team to beat. And avoiding BLACKHEART'S AXE more than any other team we find SAILS
OF CHARON. WILLAF, are we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? The most
challenged warrior this turn was PUNNY AMINALS' warrior PUN DAT. More fighters
challenged him than challenged the Duelmaster! In a brave attempt, BIRDIE NUM-NUM
from HELPLESS ANIMALS challenged up 22 points to fight YUSHIMO from the YAMABUSHI
stable. BIRDIE NUM-NUM perhaps got hers just desserts, seeing as she was bested by
YUSHIMO and ended up with 7 recognition points.
The Dark Arena is for those who cannot win, not who cannot lose with grace.
Dignity in life or death is the warrior's creed. Will BLACKHEART'S AXE get away with
MUKAARTH having killed SEXY FLANDERS of HOMERIC MMMMMMS...? One more turn, and the
bloodfeud's over, at least officially. Is it really true that WILLAF has more
dishwashers per capita that fighters? Just thought I'd ask...
Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare
to fight bravely. Well, I'm burning daylight here in WILLAF and I've a long road
ahead of me. Happy Trails. Until the sun next rises and my pen sets to paper--

PERSONAL ADS
Diaretic -- The fatal fight with Katrina the Red has been my single down challenge
(except bloodfeuds) in my career. Katrina was at 32 points, Joan of Arc was at 31.
Just ONE point. However, your point has validity, so even that sliver of a
difference in points will be recognized in future challenges. Of course, the feud is
still on. I hope Joan of Arc is looking forward to bloodfeuding with Ket again. --
Tycron
P.S. Perhaps on a mutual matter we can agree that the post office can sure be a pain
sometimes. Don't worry, once my new warriors finally get here they will be fighting
yours.
P.P.S. I appreciate your sincerity for not wanting Katrina the Red killed. The
return for that sincerity is my wishing not to have Wednesday killed, just
humiliated.
Diaretic -- I know that it is out of my place to be addressing a manager, but I take
it as a personal offense with your strong stance on TP's. Perhaps my prowess in the
arena has you scrambling for you to stop my advancement into Wednesday's bracket, I
don't know. My style is one that requires careful training and practice, and it
involves more than just loading up on armor. A win is a win is a win, sir. -- Ket
Wednesday -- Tycron's Mercs have not had the privilege of fighting you yet. I am
advancing towards your bracket, and will challenge you as soon as I get the chance.
Sure, the odds aren't in my favor seeing as you have twice my FE, but of course that
will not stop me. I will fight in the name of my fallen comrade. -- Ket
Thunder To Glory -- I apologize for your two recent losses. I had no idea death
would come by with a simple dagger, as I have learned is "knowledge is taught through
itself, as is in trial and error." -- Cutting Edge of Dark Warriors
Thunder To Glory -- I know I'm a beginner myself, but I know through experience well
enough to always wear a helm to protect the blows. Trust me, "Helms save lives!!" --
Dark Warriors
Nevron -- Alright, alright! I'll start carrying backup weapons now. Yeesh. --
Colonel Trill
OK, I will take another turn now.... Seems I have one to graduate, three to tourney
prep and...well maybe a DA...we'll see. In the meantime, you are all gonna have to
let me win. -- Ghoti
Diaretic -- What? You don't like TP's? What is wrong with you? They generally win
more than they lose in basic, they are upsetting to your opponents. What's not to
like? -- Ghoti
Diaretic -- Exlax? Is that you? -- Ghoti
Mukaarth -- I had the cards stacked against me; there was this terrible input error
that's too upsetting to get into. Maybe it will be different next time. -- Wednesday
Ket -- I can beat you. -- Joan of Arc
Tycron -- What's the matter? Can't you get warriors who want to fight for you, or
are you afraid to recruit more. -- Diaretic
Random -- Silk and steel, eh! All I saw was steel. -- Dark Priest
Mephiskapheles -- That is one hell of a name you got there. Wish I had thought of
it. Welcome to Willaf. -- Diaretic
All -- We have an average of twenty teams here and only three or four ever write
personals. C'mon, liven up. -- Diaretic
P.S. Sheesh, remind me not to go to a party with you guys.
P.P.S. Excluding Jorja, her pubs always have the coolest party games. I like the
one where someone gets thrown through a table and you see how long it takes for them
to get up.
Tonya the Rager -- Watch that temper, child! You'll have apoplexy. -- Pun Dat
Long Tom -- I hate that. I really do. I want to retire and be a dentist. -- O. Pun
Pleezj
Ambrosius -- You're mean...but sweet. Very tasty. -- Peach Nutt, an appreciator of
men
Kyla Skinflayer -- You didn't think I'd just stand there and LET you! As if! -- Oran
Ji
Mephiskapheles -- Phew! I didn't know Evil came with such a stench. -- Heck S'Nutt
Diaretic -- Some people would rather have wins than respect. -- Jorja
P.S. But I find long, slow fights tedious myself.

Greetings! I would like to invite everyone to Jhans (DM 36) for the first annual kLk
St. Valentine's Day Massacre (kill contest). We will start the contest off with the
ceremonial burning of the Andorian flag on turn 450. (Six turns away. Roughly mid-
February.) The contest will run for 10 turns. On turn 461, 3 separate victors will
be announced. Team with the most kills, warrior with the most kills, and alliance
with the most kills. Prizes will be awarded to the manager of the team with the most
kills and to the manager of the warrior with the most kills. The prizes will
probably be team roll-ups. The number of roll-ups has yet to be determined. The
contest is sponsored by Jhans' newest, (but by the time the contest starts) largest
alliance, the kLk (pronounced "klick"). -- Polarius, mgr. of Blitzkrieg DM 36
