                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

I am Goldenrod, your well-deserving Duelmaster. I don't plan to say much, as I
do not plan to stay here long. (Felix taught me that!) I will have been inactive
when you read this, to "sit out" and possibly preserve my "tournament classification
status". Life didn't used to be that way, did it?
I like Willaf. I like being a Golden Gladiator. I like being a reasonable
tourney prospect. I like being Duelmaster. And....
     Silence Is Golden
     Goldenrod DM

                                      SPY REPORT

Much has changed in WILLAF since last I was here. Never fear, Olaf Modeen
adapts to many situations, as do all successful fighters. Phhbltt! Too much
drinking and too little dodging gave FORCE OF FIVE 2 a 0-0-0! I got a good laugh out
of it! Up 'n down. Up 'n down. Rankings always change. Up 'n down. I think I'm
gonna be... Well, NOBLE ON FIRE's 7th moved them up to 1-0-0 place. What's with O.
PUN PLEEZJ? He actually beat SHROUD IN MYSTERY's PERSIFLAGE, and walked away with 25
more points from the fight. Major screwup at SHROUD IN MYSTERY. PERSIFLAGE lost 14
points to O. PUN PLEEZJ. Some new strategies, perhaps? Maybe PERSIFLAGE will
provide more easy wins... Har har har! Did GOLDENROD wimp out, or just get lazy?
Anyway, she's not Duelmaster anymore. I'm sure WILLAF is excited about O. PUN
PLEEZJ, the new Duelmaster from PUNNY AMINALS. (remember?) But when you've seen as
many as I have... Wouldn't it be nice to have live subjects to practice on? I hear
some team is looking into the uses of convicted prisoners.
No matter the time or place, men will always duel. The most avoided team was
DAGGERS EDGE. The bums at NOBLE ON FIRE couldn't face the challenges from DAGGERS
EDGE! No excuse for that! How well I know the feeling of being the most challenged
warrior, KUROME! Don't make idle boasts, they may come back to haunt you.
Warriors of WILLAF unite. You have only your games to lose! Hmm... More
surprises must remain in store for me, if STAN DAUFFISH can return from the Dark
Arena. How long have I been here? I got people to see, places to go...
Who knows what the future holds for a warrior. More fights, there's no doubt.
The end of another Spyreport! That's cause for celebration in my book! Remember--a
good fighter needs both good skills and good luck. Until next time,-- Olaf Modeen

Me, Duelmaster!?!?!? Wowser! Don't count on me defending the title, as the boss
will probably want to be defensive about preserving "tournament status". -- Goldenrod
(The sneezemaster!)

O.Pun -- Was surely glad you were there for me again. And I am really, really sorry
about your allergies. (wink) Felix didn't want to come and do battle with me, I
guess. -- Goldenrod, Duelmaster (Get it, Felix?)

Yushimo -- Well, I'll just bet that rocked your kimono! Surprise, surprise! -- Old
Gold

Daggers Edge -- Well done! Life looks golden for you. But you guys need a little
competition "down there"! -- Midas of Golden Gladiators.

O. Pud Pleeg -- That personal rocked our day! LOL. -- The Golden Gladiators

Punh Jently -- Old-fashioned? Of course! Gold is made to last forever. I, of
course, am veerrryyyyyy old fashioned--and proud of it! -- Gold Filling (made to
last)

Congratulations Star Dreck TNG and Daggers Edge for your very golden W/L record. --
Midas

Goldenrod -- Gosh, me in a title match! I'm...I'm just stunned. -- O. Pul Pleezj
P.S. Unless it was the blow to the head....
P.P.S. I don't know how I came to forget my dental drill.

Shochu -- In the SAND? What kind of a way is that to treat a warrior? Just because
you've got a ton more experience is no reason to bury me in the SAND. -- Punh Jently

Tanoshi -- (crossly) I hate your beard. You've got split ends. -- O. Fish

Howling Arc -- I thought an arc was a kind of big boat, with lots of animals in it.
You're big enough, I guess. Do you have lots of animals? -- Ketl Physhe

Shadow Wraith -- This's ridiculous. How can you be a shadow AND a wraith? One or
the other. -- O Puncha, the nasty cactus

Hiya Willaf -- I just remembered that I haven't graduated yet! So I'm back to get my
diploma. I told my master, Noachian, that I didn't want to go to the Isle of The
Grey Witch. I asked if I graduate can I manage my own team? First he thought it was
silly for a girl to want to manage a team of fighters. He said I wouldn't be able to
find five guys to fight for me. We'll see. If I graduate, I get to be a manager.
So I'm back. Be kind. -- Persiflage

Is there anybody in the DM game who is incarcerated that has had to litigate in order
to continue playing? Or anyone in the free world who may be able to help me with
case law or legal advice? The Administration has already taken "D&D type games" from
us once (though I recently had that decision overturned). I believe it's only a
matter of time before they try it again and I am prepared to file a lawsuit if need
be. I enjoy DM and any help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated! I

Ladies and gents...get your teams together and join in on the hottest and fiercest
contest ever to grace the arena sands! Intrigue, personal wars, you name it...we got
it going on! What is this contest? It's the Turf War IV in DM 47, North Fork!!
This fantastic contest was begun by my alliance mate Asmo Dius, and I've picked up
some of the slack. Contest starts on Turn 225 (approx. date June 9th?). It's an
"alliance-type contest", so grab your folks and bring them in for a bang up time.
Rules will be printed in the DM 47 newsletter at least until the contest starts. --
