                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Wonderful! Despite the boss, Midas, (see below in ads) sending in strats early
and announcing a vacation, early snail results just beat the leaving packed time
machine and I was told to take five minutes and write my #*^&@*! Duelmaster Column.
So, I am.
Midas's terrific strategy worked and somewhat manipulated me into this throne.
But, I want it and I have it! Midas had retiring LP Golden Eagle challenge DM
Eleesia in his final fight, hoping and expecting the bird to defeat Eleesia and
temporarily take the crown with him out the door. Then, it was hoped that with my
already high recognition points, I would match someone well below, handle them, and
eke into the Title over Eleesia. It worked! I did! Here I am!
By the way, I am Golden Delicious, probably the tastiest of all the Golden
Gladiators. But, let's leave it at that, since my five minutes are up and I am
oouuttaa hheeeeeeeeere!
          Golden Delicious DMI

                                      SPY REPORT

Hail and well met warriors of WILLAF! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Former top team PUNNY AMINALS was unseated
this week as FAR TRAVELERS moved up from 3rd ranking to take the top spot with a
4-1-1 record for the round. SIEGFRIED caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial
commission as he skillfully bested STOGA STEEL and was awarded 15 points in
recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, SIMON ST. JOHN put down SILLY
SUIT, causing it to lose 10 points of recognition in the process. Due to hers
absence and inability to defend the throne, GOLDEN DELICIOUS has lost the title of
Duelmaster. The city has turned out in honor of KATARINA, for with hers arena
victory she may now lay claim to the highest position in the city! Heed this! A
seer has warned that if exactly 6 die in duels this week, the whole city shall
perish! Just remember...5 or 7!
Many and various are the arts of battle. In WILLAF "art" is a word that has
long since passed from the language! I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when
this week's challenge seeking began. THE DARK TIDES is feared. This much I can say.
Apparently the stalwarts of GOLDEN GLADIATORS are catching the bulk of jests down at
the challenging board for their large share of the avoids. Mighty fighters cannot
but expect competition from those below. SARDO GRACKEL take warning! You have more
than a few enemies in WILLAF.
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? My condolences to EMOTIONAL PANTS for their loss of a very
promising warrior, LISTLESS LEVI. LISTLESS LEVI went to doom before the arms of
ANGUS MACDOUGAL, a warrior of FAR TRAVELERS. Dark alleys may hide both secrets and
assassins. In the arena there is only the brightness of steel. Keep vigil always!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? Ahh, but I can hear the spires of a far off
city calling to me. I must away! Till we meet again, remember: a turtle walks
slow, hides head in a shell, and harms no one; a lion runs to slay its prey.--
Zontani Sharp Eyes

                                     PERSONAL ADS

Hey, everybody. Might be light in the personals this round. Taking a two-weeker.
Hope my guys pull through. -- Midas
(One week of Halloween grandkids visit, and one week caring for very elderly Mother.)

Silly Suit -- Nice fight, kudos to you. Maybe I should visit your taylor. -- Morgar

Golden Eagle -- Congratulations, you were better that day. Of course, I will go
after Golden Delicious in my final fight here, I need apples for my invite pit. --
Eleesia

Midas -- Hey, Midas!! What's up with your warriors sticking around for 33 plus
victories (remember the past) and mine gets gone (invited) after 23 total fights?
Bribery maybe? I figured 30 total fightes with that style. I guess I better get
back to studying the ins and outs of the game. -- Coyote

Jorja, Midas or Anyone -- What are political points? How do you get them? How many
do you need to get the invite? I wonder for I have had warriors graduate in 11
fights, other 50 or so. Thanks for your insights, they are appreciated. -- Coyote

A form of recognition, I suppose you could call them. Five for each turn as
duelmaster, two for each turn spent in the Challenger Champs. Also five for a
tourney championship, I believe, but I don't know if tourney victor status
confers any. My recollection is that you have to have seventeen of them to
graduate. -- the Editor, scrambling through scrambled memories

Dark Priest -- Quite tasty. You'll do. -- Fangs Ardente, relishing dark blood as
much as light

Siegfried -- I never exepcted YOU to be a traveler, I thought you were a line?
Coulda been wrong, it was just one of those "other universe" dreams, you know. --
Sardo Grackel

I ask myself, what does one do with a Captured Orc? I thought of barbecue, but my
teammates assure me that would be barbaric, which seems appropriate but they won't
let me do that. How about extensive tattoo work, and then I can exhibit him as the
Tattooed Man at five coppers a peek? -- Billy Jack

The Persistent Beggar is almost annoying enough to make me look with more favor on
Billy Jack's original "barbecue" idea. This fellow will NOT study, whatever
technique I try. -- Horus Mann, beginning to think it is time to incline toward the
other side of his nature

Longing Leggings -- Do I have to stop there? I've done the "longing for the
leggings" bit, now can you take them off? -- John Dere

Pan for Gold -- I could make you a real deal on a half-size tractor. -- John Dere

Simon St. John -- Nothing wrong with luck! Start growing four-leaf clovers. -- Sardo
Grackel

Our congratulations to Eleesia. -- Jorja and the Punny Animals
