                             Notes from the arena champ.

This is a pleasant, but unexpected, surprise. I walked across a Bridge and
found myself on top. How I handle the defense of the title is another matter. I
believe another bridge I must cross is coming. Maybe I will wear Sad Slacks in my
next fight....

                                          -- Morgar

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly WILLAF games. FLETCHER caught the eye of many in the
gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested HORUS MANN and was awarded 21 points
in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, LONGING LEGGINGS put down
JOHN DERE, causing him to lose 2 points of recognition in the process. Our last
turn's Duelmaster has lost, folks, lost to VETERAN MERCENARY, and MORGAR has made the
way for a new Duelmaster! With MORGAR clearing the throne, MAXIMUM RESULTS of STOGA
STEEL takes a proud seat as WILLAF's new Duelmaster, by virtue of recognition points.
Informants "close" to the city champion have told me that he never fights without
pantyhose on beneath his armor. Watch out!
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city WILLAF. WILLAF, city of gladiators! Mighty among the names of thy
guilds is PUNNY AMINALS, a guild shunned and avoided by many in the weekly duels.
Apparently the stalwarts of GOLDEN GLADIATORS are catching the bulk of jests down at
the challenging board for their large share of the avoids. Mighty fighters cannot
but expect competition from those below. SAD SLACKS take warning! You have more
than a few enemies in WILLAF. I can not but mention with disdain the name of STOGA
STEEL who this week posted a challenge to a warrior a full 13 points below in the
rankings. I thought STOGA STEEL showed great skill and promise when he defeated SAD
SLACKS. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more
than its fair share of red in recent times. Fate is a fickle mistress. She showers
the miserable with fortune but sets enemies against the victorious. Remember this!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? More than a sharp eye must I keep, indeed a
stout pair of legs must I keep as well! The endless paths of Alastari await me!
Till next we meet remember - the pen is mightier than the sword, but a maul is a
different story!-- Zontani Sharp Eyes

With the upcoming mailer tournament, two of the team, Galen and Tricillian, will not
be fighting this turn. Sorry for the inconvenience it poses to all you managers out
there. -- Maximum Results
P.S. We all know easy wins are hard to come by.

Open Question for All -- Does the weapon advantage over certain armor outweigh the
advantage over your favorite weapon? Example: You believe the favorite weapon is an
epee--would you then change your weapon to awarhammer against plate armor? -- Coyote

Congratulations, Morgar. You deserved the title. -- Midas, Golden Gladiators

Yep, I agree. You spracked me good, Morgar. -- Golden Gate Bridge

Tricilliad -- I took a chance challenging you. Thanks for proving my instincts to be
correct. (wink) -- Goldplated

Galen -- You've got game! -- Gold Charm

Horus Mann -- I'm glad I got there first. I'd hate to be hit by you. -- Gold Locket

Midas and the Golden Gladiators -- Into a relaxed retirement. -- Sardo Grackel

Gold Plated -- Whoopee. -- Ripley Byrd

Pan for Gold -- And better if it stayed there. -- John Dere

Coyote -- 13-11-15-13-9-10-13 QS mod/low. Even if Jorja was interested in high-end
play, that low will would send me into retirement. Hmmm, does "low will" equal
"won't"? -- Sardo Grackel

Sad Slacks -- Grossly unfair. I WON, and YOU got voted Popularity Leader. -- Sardo
Grackel
P.S. But it no longer matters to me, except that it's annoying.

Longing Leggins -- Horus was right about you. Totally devastating. -- Billy Jack

Gold Locket -- I haven't recovered from my encounter with the Leggings woman last
time. I was vulnerable to you. -- Horus Mann

Fletcher -- Ah, too bad... for you, anyway, that the Commission wouldn't let you use
the arrows. Not that *I* mind. -- John Dere

An Embezzling Scribe. Very good. This is what I'm ready for. I feel wholly
justified, too. -- Ripley Byrd

18 March 11
All -- Be aware of the comeback of the Cajun and his stables of gladiators! Just
