Notes from the arena champ.
Yes, it is true... 'Ol Quintus downed too many tankards of grog at "Death Row", that
exclusive night club owned by the Dark One, and went home with a questionable "lady
of the night." He felt the Newcastle Gods were smiling upon him, but alas, he woke
up too late to defend the title and with some brown ale of a different sort.... And
to make matters worse, he discovered himself alone in a in a hotel room, wallet and
clothes missing and with a terrible rash on his appendage. You know how it is with
those bashers, not too bright and all.... And you were expecting a column from him
last week???
Anyway, not much happening here in Aljafir, as usual. But wait! Let me scower as
far down as humanly possible for a downchallenge in the ranks.... A newb! Or is
it??? Perhaps some mega managing, ego driven, apathetic guy running incognito and
undercover??? You know, mega manager covert ops? Ssshhhh!!! Your signal is 5 by
5.... The chicken is in the pot. You are greenlighted. It's a go. Is that you
Scrag? Neon? It's safe to come out of from behind that planter. Just wear your
sunglasses. No one will recognize you celebrities here.
Who is this Brotherhood? Are they associated with the Brotherhood of Overpensioned
Rickshawm Workers? Brotherhood of Aljafir Roto Rooters? Brotherhood of Oliphaunt
Dung Shovelers? Brotherhood for Nancy Pelosi for President? Oh no!!! Brotherhood

really, in all actuality, is quite meaningless. Yes, I'm blessed with awesome stats,
but alas no bonuses and condemned to a life of tourney sandbagging mediocrity....
Could be worse, I could be unemployed in this economically stressed city. I bet
those fatcat politicians and tycoons of Aljafir industry are still living large....
Politicians are always busy stimulating something or other, especially their
Wallets.... Perhaps they will consider us for a bailout? We've paid dearly in Dark
Arena taxes! Wait.... Is The Lady Greywand running a Ponzi Scheme? Something to
seriously consider....

If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
ALJAFIR brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Later days, MIDDLE WAY, since FIELDS
OF ELYSIUM took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. Gee, I'm
impressed, a 3-1-1 is nice, but don't get cocky, GLADIATORS, the Fates teach
humility, and the Fates are proud. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to see
THEODOSIUS win a fight and gain 17 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, TIBERIUS beat ZALMAN
ARVO and ZALMAN ARVO lost 6 points. You're breakin' my heart. Due to absence, and
inability to defend the throne, AURELIUS has lost the Title of Duelmaster. Start
setting that alarm earlier! And it's out with the old, in with the new, as
VERCINGETORIX takes the Title and last week's bar tab from the old Duelmaster. Heh,
heh. Kickbacks and bribes, kickbacks and bribes, how else do you think some of these
guys win their fights? Skill? Ha!
Well, let's take a look at some more misdeeds of you miserable sword-boys.
What's the big D? DEATH INCARNATE was the most avoided team? Bunch of lily
livered... grumble... mumble... curse... And it looks like GLADIATORS avoided them
the most this turn. What a pack of would be losers, if you ask me. Hmph. URSILA
VINE was challenged more times this turn than the Duelmaster. Now was the DM
insulted or feared? Heh, heh.
Some people like volunteer work in the hospitals. I volunteer for ALJAFIR's
morgue. More variety. We're all going to die in the end, so why worry if the fate
