                             Notes from the arena champ.

No surprise, Den breaks my avoid and watches his warrior lose again. This turn,
Assur is not only forcing me to challenge Ungood, but he says if the commission
recognizes the challenge, I WILL LOSE. I didn't know that Assur played politics and
favors, but apparently, he does. So much for attempting to be the best of the best
and not giving up. All those pep talks! All those lessons! All that training! All
for nothing! I'll obey, he does pay the bills, but I don't like it. Why should I
have to give up what is my only moment of glory for a young upstart who wants a free
ride to the top?!?

On the positive side, even a loss will be enough to get me immortality. So I'm out
of here, hopefully joined by my teammate, Troi, but she doesn't have the luxury of
only needing to survive to gain immortality. So, here are my vitals:

14(1)-3-15-21-15-10-7 B Norm End, Great Dmg
31(+3)/12/29/18/9?/30
39 FE

Strangely, I was supposed to be the better of the two of us bashers, but Troi was the
one who performed, while I was mediocre in the arena and in tourneys. Farewell
Talcama. I don't regret it!

-- The Crusher

                                      SPY REPORT

Good day, in TALCAMA a quiet thief gets rich, but a quiet spymaster gets poor.
So bring me ale and harken to my tidbits of news. It seems the training can make the
difference, as HELP WANTED is pushed out of top team by SHEPHERDS, who came from 4th
with a 3-2-0 this turn. Now keep the taverns open late tonight, for there are
sorrows to drown for IMPURE THOUGHTS, whose 0-0-0 this turn dropped them by 6 into
15th. UNTOUCHABLES stable has parlayed this turn's 3-2-0 into a 8 space move up the
rankings. This brings them up to 3rd place. Good work, guys! And let's see, ENTEK
fought MR. DUTCH CRUNCH and gained 20 points and contributed to BURN N' PILLAGE's
1-4-0. MR. DUTCH CRUNCH has lost to ENTEK, falling 41 points, while helping make
WASTELAND a 1-2-0 turn. This turn THE CRUSHER challenged UNGOOD in what was
TALCAMA's Title bout. And all eyes were on UNGOOD this turn as it ascended to the
throne of Duelmaster. TALCAMA has a new victor! Tell me, is nothing sacred? I have
heard from unimpeachable sources that The Original Arthur's Last Stand uses trolls in
their stew. Talk about gristle!
He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose
for good reasons. My mama told me that one. I also notice that the IMPURE THOUGHTS
stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on TALCAMA, what are you afraid of?
And avoiding IMPURE THOUGHTS more than any other team we find WASTELAND. TALCAMA,
are we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? The most challenged warrior
this turn was ARROGANCE's warrior HOFFA. More fighters challenged him than
challenged the Duelmaster! In a brave attempt, KA'ZEEN from HELLBOURNE challenged up
25 points to fight SMELL CAREFULLY from the STREET PIZZA stable. KA'ZEEN perhaps got
its just desserts, seeing as it was overcame by SMELL CAREFULLY and ended up with 93
recognition points. VISTA BLOWS of WASTELAND had better have a good reason for
challenging down 9 points in a challenge which it won. I thought VISTA BLOWS showed
great skill and promise when it beat HOFFA. All right, so I slept through it! Big
deal!
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to
be true. DREW PEA must have surprised FUNKY FOLK this turn, after they sent him to
the Dark Arena, but the Dark Arena couldn't hold him! Is it really true that TALCAMA
has more dishwashers per capita that fighters? Just thought I'd ask...
Thought for the day, a new sword shines bright, but the notched sword sings the
sweetest. Always good to rest in TALCAMA, but never good to wear out my welcome.
Look for me in future turns. Until the sun next rises and my pen sets to paper--
Alarond the Scribe

Den -- Wow. Have you considered taking up politics? Becoming a weatherman, perhaps?
Neither facts nor claims muddle either of those careers. (1) Your assertion that I
couldn't bloodfeud because I didn't have a challenger champ is incorrect. Whet
William was a CC. The correct reason I couldn't bloodfeud was because Chunky had
graduated and the death didn't even remain in the listings. (2) We all don't, in
fact, covet the same goal. While you wish to achieve the Duelmastership, there are
many others who would rather not collect those political points and accelerate their
graduation. My personal goal is to graduate every style from the same team. I've
accomplished two round robins with the Center thus far. I was encouraged when the
Ped's column mentioned managing off-styles; it keeps the game interesting for me. I
also have a goal to hit 1000 wins. The DM throne is nifty--heaven knows I've had far
more sitting there in Talcama than you ever will--but it's not the goal I covet.
Right now, my goal is to have five warriors I can run regularly. (3) You
"relinquished" the throne? That's funny. I suppose you "relinquished" in four of
your five fights last turn too? When you lost to The Crusher last turn on your
challenge, was it so you could prove how well you can yield? I have no aversion to
downchallenging, but frankly, the Pedophile is not a good matchup for Ungood. Pass.
I've not yet been impressed by anything you've done; besides big talk in the
personals, you're simply the latest in a run of cocky yabbermouth upstarts. Talk to
me after you've amassed 100 wins with a new team instead of transferring in ready-
mades. I may be the old egomaniac (though more than likely, anyone here would tell
you I'm old but no egoist), but you're young and a fool. Kill all my warriors? Kay.
I don't care. This is a fight you can't win. -- Suave

Suave -- Hey! I care! -- Ungood

Ungood -- Shut up. I'm making a point. -- Suave

Bill -- And you are...? Ah, according to the manager list, you're Help Wanted. Can
you and Den do us a favor and try something original? Something new to contribute
besides "You're chumps and we're awesome?" Good for you. You're awesome. We're
chumps. As I've indicated before, getting into a whizzing contest with me is like
sending your polished pugilist into the ring against my retarded child. You really
should win. It's embarrassing to you when you don't. This impresses whom? All I
ask is that you provide an entertaining idiot. -- Suave
P.S. At least when I beat up on A-Sop's warriors and arena standbys, I don't brag
about how incredible I am.

Bill and Den -- To save you guys the trouble:

Suave -- You're a coward and a weakling. Fight like a man! Stop using your avoids!
Blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda. -- The Allied Axis Superhumans and the Envy of All
Living, Breathing Things (and even some that aren't)

BWDave, Muffy, Jolly -- Hope and expect you guys are smiling about this garbage, as
it saves you the trouble of dealing with rocks in your shoes. Eesh. -- Suave

Lionfish -- What'd you have to go and do that for? -- Ghost of Bubola

Bill -- Such colorful metaphors from a sick man. Here is one for you: "When a
strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. But when
someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man
trusted and divides up the spoils." Luke 11:21-22 I am quite safe from the likes of
you and Den. -- Assurnasirbanipal

Den -- Keep the challenges coming! I believe the score since your return is 3-1 in
my favor, all 4 on your challenges. I can just imagine what would happen if I
started challenging you.... -- Assur

Mr. Dutch Crunch -- I don't know what kind of voodoo magic TMM uses on you, but that
is twice you've stolen victories from my bashers. Please take your wares elsewhere,
we want nothing to do with you! -- Assur

NEED A TURF WAR ALLIANCE?? Master Beru, Wretch, Reaper, and Xoan have come together
to form an Alliance for the TURF WAR in DM47 with no regards for experience in
competitions or even the game. If you want to enjoy the thrills of the competition,
we have space for up to three more managers. Contact Master Beru at
d_spinella@msn.com for more information or send a note to Master Beru at DM 29--Army
of Darkness. If you are interested, we need to move quickly, since the contest
starts in January and there are a few requirements to meet to participate. May your
blades find the chinks in your enemy's armor. -- Master Beru

ANNOUNCING THE NO-TOURNAMENT ARENA (81)

As an American I honor my cultural heritage by stealing any good idea. This idea was
originally proposed by Lord Xiang in November 2005. RSI will be opening the arena
(81) for teams willing to sign the following pledge:

* I pledge that I will not send warriors from this arena to a Tournament, nor will I
use a Tournament prize on a warrior from this arena.
* I pledge to run a full team when I run turns in this arena. If circumstances
preclude my running less than a full team I will notify the Player Committee.
* I agree to abide by the decisions of the Player Committee.
* I understand that any warrior that participates in a Tournament shall be sent to
the Dark Arena until they are dead.
* I understand that any warrior that receives a Tournament prize shall be send to
the Dark Arena until they are dead.

The following are the rules for joining this No-Tournament arena
1. No tournament play for warriors in this arena (Dead tournament or otherwise).
2. One team per manager.
3. Teams start with new rollup (or a zero fight equivalent team is transferred into
    this arena.)
4. No tourney prizes allowed to modify warriors in the arena.
5. Twenty teams required, per RSI.
6. Waivers are required to allow self-regulation on tourney ban, granting RSI
authority to Dark Arena any warrior that participates in a Tournament (until the
    warrior is dead).
7. Rotating council to enforce tourney ban and maintain arena integrity.

The main purpose of the Player Committee is to maintain fair play in the arena:
* Warriors that participate in Tournaments will be sent to the Dark Arena until they
are dead. This means that the Player Committee has the power to send another
player's warrior to the Dark Arena
* Managers that abuse the rules of the Arena may be banned/transferred from the
   Arena.

The player with the most votes for Chairman will fill slot 1 [Chairperson] and that
term expires end of March 2007.
The player with the most votes overall will fill slot 5 and that term expires end of
November 2007.
The player with the second most votes overall will fill slot 4 and that term expires
end of September 2007.
The player with the third most votes overall will fill slot 3 and that term expires
end of November 2007.
The player with the fourth most votes overall will fill slot 2 and that term expires
end of May 2007.

During the month that the chairperson's term expires the Player Committee will select
one of the remaining 4 players to be the next chairperson. During the month that any
member's term expires the arena will vote for a different player to join the Players'
Committee.

If you want to be a candidate for the player committee:
1. Post a message in the Duel2 Forum at
    http://www.reality.com/duel2/modules.php?name=Forums
2. E-Mail Deke at DekeYoung@Comcast.NET
3. Send a Diplomatic Note to Doc LeGrand's Lab [ARENA 81]

There are 4 steps to joining this arena
1) Send in a new team rollup to RSI with the following pledge taped/stapled to the
rollup sheet, or transfer a ZERO FIGHT EQUIVALENT TEAM to Arena 81 and send RSI the
following form.

No-Tournament Arena (81)
* I pledge that I will not send warriors from this team to a Tournament, nor will I
use a Tournament prize on a warrior from this team.

2) [Optional] post a message on the Duel 2 Forums in the Creating a No-Tournament
   Arena thread
   http://www.reality.com/duel2/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2296&sid=
   94ebf69603ccaf5c7dbf1b19da799732
3) [Optional] send an e-mail to DekeYoung@Comcast.NET with your team name
4) [Optional] Send a Diplomatic Note to Doc LeGrand's Lab in Arena 81 with your team
name and intent to join Arena 81 and abide by the Arena rules.

RSI will be processing overviews for this arena as soon as you send them into
RSI.
The first turn will run in January 2007. This will be a normal speed arena.
While I am encouraging everyone to use TEAM MAINTENANCE it is not mandatory.
The intent is that players that run turns will run a full team. One warrior teams
are discouraged and will a topic for the Player Committee to resolve.
I also encourage players to join the Duel2 Yahoo Group for faster updates and
feedback. http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/duel/

I will track Awards in Arena 81, which will be posted on a web site and included
in the following turn's newsletter.

The Honor of Sunset Award:
The first team to reach 10 Team Kills. In the case that there is more than one
team that achieves 10 Team Kills on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the team
with the most kills. If two or more teams are tied for Team Kills, I will prolong
the contest until one team has the most Kills in the Arena (it does not have to be
one of the teams that first reached 10 Team Kills.)

The Race to Victory Award:
The first team to reach 75 Team Wins. In the case that there is more than one
team that reaches 75 Team wins on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the team
with the most wins. If two or more teams are tied for Team Wins, I will prolong the
contest until one team has the most wins in the Arena (it does not have to be one of
the teams that first reached 75 Team Wins.)

The Commitment to Change Award:
The first team to reach 125 Team Fights. In the case that there is more than
one team that reaches 125 Team Fights on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the
team with the most fights. If two or more teams are tied for Team Fights, I will
prolong the contest until one team has the most fights in the Arena (it does not have
to be one of the teams that first reached 125 Team Fights.) I hope I never give out
this award {figure it out on your own.}

The Team Advancement Award:
The first team to graduate 5 warriors to ADM. In the case that there is more
than 1 team that graduates 5 warriors on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the
first team to graduate 6 warriors. In the case that there is more than 1 team that
graduates 6 warriors on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the first team to
graduate 7 warriors, and so on.
