                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Adara Al Zahra -- Gotta keep this short and sweet per the Boss' orders. So...two
words for you: "YOU SUUUUCCCCKKKK!!!!" Oh, and two letters for your manager: D and
A. -- Sit, Disciple Of Valahalla

And now, you will all bow the required three inches from the ground as Odin graces
you with a few words....

Sometime ago, my old ally Jekyll from this very Duelmaster Throne, all but officially
retired the flag of the greatest, the most feared, and most hated alliance that
Alastari has ever known, The Midnight Foundation. Time and events had warranted the
attention of the various other Overlords of The Midnight Foundation to conquer, rule,
and cause general pain and suffering for all on other planets and even other planes
of existence. Yea, while the Laws of The Overlords shall remain in place, I am here
to officially recognize the passing of The Midnight Foundation into the pages of
Alastarian legend. Names such as Bird, Carnage, Jekyll, Floyd, and the like will
forever more be used by mothers to frighten their children to do their chores and
follow their orders. These are the names of managers who did walk all over you
measly cowering peasants inside and outside of the arenas. The mere arrival of an
Overlord and his Disciples to an arena would cause panic in the village streets while
the stench of fear from the arena sands was almost palatable. In a Foundation Arena,
the body count was always high and the down challenges even higher. The Foundation's
ruthlessness in gladiatorial combat was matched only by our ruthlessness in the
personal ads. As their warriors fell to our Disciples on the sands, the arena
managers did fall to our superior scathing remarks in the Personal Ads. Alas, let us
not forget our frequent blood sacrifices on the hollowed ground of the Dark Arena to
Alastari's most powerful beings...US, the Overlords!!!! HA HA!!!

After almost a decade removed from the sands, Jekyll and myself did witness the full
impact of The Midnight Foundation legend upon our return a few years ago. Managers
from all parts of this miserable planet sent personal ads to Zuwayza that proclaimed
their hatred for us. Yet they showed their fear by only one or two actually
venturing to send a team to face us on our new "home turf". And those who did were
quickly crushed. Certain communication services did see a large boost in usage when
we threw our two cents in on a topic. Yet these things were usually strangely quiet
without us.

But alas, two people do not an alliance make. Like the Wardens of the Dark Circle,
we shall be forever more spoken in the arenas where so many other alliances will be
forgotten. Like my own Norse God legend on Earth, so shall the legend of the
Overlords and The Midnight Foundation live on this planet for thousands of years.
Know ye this, you privileged few will have the honor of having served and suffered at
the very hands of legends that your descendants will only hear of in fearful tales
told around the campfire. Here, there be gods!!!!

So, for one last time I sign off as....

Odin, Overlord Of The Midnight Foundation

                                      SPY REPORT

Hail ZUWAYZA! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for your
deeds. It seems the training can make the difference, as THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS is
pushed out of top team by JAGUAR WARRIORS, who came from 2nd with a 4-1-1 this turn.
The FUNKY FOLK IV guild has had a 3-1-0 turn and deserves to be watched in the
future. You never know where this kind of thing can lead. ZUWAYZA welcomes a new
team to our ranks, unofficially of course, for now. But welcome nonetheless to
SWEDEN. Let's see what you can do. And let's see, JERRY ATTRICKS fought WHITE WOLF
and gained 20 points and contributed to FUNKY FOLK IV's 3-1-0. (PLAIN WRAPPER) has
lost to DAYNE JEROUS, falling 9 points, while helping make THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS a
0-4-0 turn. Somebody's not going to like this, (then again, somebody will), but our
Duelmaster, SIT, has died, and DING HAO has killed him. Tell me, is nothing sacred?
I have heard from unimpeachable sources that The Drunken Ox uses trolls in their
stew. Talk about gristle!
Oriental wise man once say, 'Hiding behind shields prevents proper sun tanning.'
Inscrutable, but true. I also notice that the VALHALLA stable was the most avoided
team this turn. Come on ZUWAYZA, what are you afraid of? And avoiding VALHALLA more
than any other team we find JAGUAR WARRIORS. ZUWAYZA, are we going to accept, or
respect this sort of thing? The most challenged warrior this turn was THE
MAGNIFICENT MAGS' warrior ELLE. More fighters challenged her than challenged the
Duelmaster!
The Dark Arena is for those who cannot win, not who cannot lose with grace.
Dignity in life or death is the warrior's creed. Is it really true that ZUWAYZA has
more dishwashers per capita that fighters? Just thought I'd ask...
Thought for the day, a new sword shines bright, but the notched sword sings the
sweetest. It's been nice chatting with you, until we meet again, keep your swords
sharp and your hammers heavy. Until you see my quill in ZUWAYZA again, farewell--
Alarond the Scribe

Sit -- I wasn't ready for you. I was expecting another standby. Next time it won't
go so well for you. -- Adara Al Zahra

Elle -- What do I have to do to get a win!? Something really crazy, I guess. --
Sforno Obadja

Travel Holiday -- The Spirit of Kjarran took over and I couldn't stop myself.
Someone must have made Kjarran angry. -- Ved Buens Ende

Dyer, Rhea -- I wanted to end the fight quickly, just to get away from you. Why do
they let diseased creatures like you on the sands! -- Ding Hao

Jerry Attricks -- I too think you've been lying about you age. -- Deo Volente

Odin -- Welcome back to the Holy City, if only as fodder for my Kjarran blessed
blades. You will serve Kjarran, even if only as sacrifices to the One God. At least
fill up the personal ads. Now you only need to make sense. One final note. Kjarran
is the One True God, All other gods are false. Worship Kjarran or die! -- Noachian,
Servant of Kjarran, mgr. Jaguar Warriors

Bad Yearbook Names -- Welcome back to the Holy City. May the blessing of Kjarran be
upon you. -- Noachian

Master Odin -- I'm tired of being a Jaguar. Can I join your team? I know I can do
better. I'm just now getting my second wind. I know my record will improve once I'm
a member of Valhalla. Just call me Odin's Boytoy of Valhalla. -- Sforno Obadja
P.S. Rule #6 is my favorite. I don't like rule #89; I like bunny rabbits.

Adara Al Zahra -- You call that a fight? I've seen corpses put up more of a fight
during a grave robbery than you did!! I've seen a donut put up a better fight
against a local law constable than you did!! I've seen the mailman put up more of a
fight as I beat him to death with his own arm for delivering my mail late!!! I've
seen Odin put up a better fight when that Earthling female "Beyonce" couldn't control
herself in his presence and simply had to have him then and there!!! (Yeah, what was
that Odin, a whole half a millisecond of "resistance"? Heh heh. Way to go, boss!!!)
You are weak, Adara Al Zahra!! You are pathetic, Adara Al Zahra!!! You cry like a
little girl when beaten, Adara Al Zahra!!! And your belly button sticks out too far,
Adara Al Zahra!!! Now, grovel before your better!!!! ME, SIT, DISCIPLE OF VALHALLA,
DUELMASTER OF ZUWAYZA, CRAP-BEATER-OUT-OF ADARA AL ZAHRA!!!!

All -- First turn back and already I've got the throne, chartered recognition leader,
and the most popular warrior? Now, who's going to say that this is not an arena
still ruled by The Legend Of The Midnight Foundation! BBBBWWWWAAAAHHHAHAHAHA!!!! --
Odin

White Wolf? -- More like "White Chihuahua" or "White Mouse". Pathetic, chump,
pathetic. -- Bhagwandass

All -- Please note there is addendum to Rule #7. (Concerning pathetic lower life
forms kicking, spitting, hitting, or farting in my ex-wife's direction and a 1000
gold coin reward for such. Though I must say, as fat as she is, I wouldn't kick her.
A couple of dwarfs tried to kick her and they got sucked into the rolls of fat around
her belly. I think she's saving them for a late night snack sometime.) Anyway, Rule
#7 is suspended on nights that the local taverns have "Mexican" nights or their main
meal involves types of beans or chili. I almost ran out of gold when that place
around the corner had a chili cook off the second night of my return. SHESH! Though
I must say, I was glad to give Jorja an extra 2000 gold for that one particular bomb
that was let off in my ex's direction. Heh, heh. She'll be smelling like that for a
week! -- Odin

Bhagwandass -- If that isn't JUST like a dwarf! Acquisitive and nasty. Oh, well. --
White Wolf

Bed Buens Ende -- Oh, well, I DID want to check out the accommodations in the Spirit
Land and other such places. But I fear they'll never be popular for holidays. --
Ghost of Travel Holiday

I didn't realize that the Ambitious Guard was one of THEM. Gods. I barely escaped
with my wrapper! -- (Plain Wrapper)

Sforno Obadja -- Amazing what a smile and wiggle of the hips will do, isn't it? --
Elle

Sandy Beech -- Don't you get sand in your, um, gears? (leering tentatively) I'd be
glad to help you clean it out. -- Sports Ill

Ved Buen Ende -- I have a strategy? Oh, I guess I must, if I'm not going 1-1-1 HE
HE. But it isn't arcane. -- White Wolf

Sforno Obadja -- Well, according to the new rule I heard, no matter HOW bad the
warrior, if you can stay alive for one hundred fights, you graduate. I guess they
didn't like that guy who went over one hundred and only graduated because someone
threw him a fourteenth win to get him out of the way. -- (Plain Wrapper)

Oh, well, I can always shut down this team again. I try to avoid the really boring
arenas. -- Jorja

Ding Hao -- Flies are hard. They fly, you see. Try stabbing a fly on the wing! --
Convicted Assassin (name withheld by request)

                                    The Contract
[as retold by Hammer the WordSmith]
What had begun as a contract for swords and armor between a well known name in
the DM community and the former VC Captain/WordSmith and WeaponSmith of the Vendetta
Cartel Tarantula Tribe was destined to impact and altar the landscape of the dueling
community for years to come.
The following is but a condensed retelling of history in the making.

Hammer continued sipping his tankard of Elven Tonic as the mysterious hooded
figure quietly seated himself across the table from the Veteran Manager whose back
was against the wall; allowing for a subtle, but effective surveillance of the dimly
lit tavern.
Recent events in both Illis and North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena had stunned the DM
managerial world with the announcement that Hammer had resigned from his position as
a well respected member of the Vendetta Cartel Alliance.
Those managers and associates closest to Hammer were shocked and dismayed that
there seemed to be NO Rational Explanation for Hammer making such a seemingly
irrational, hasty and extremely illogical decision; by what seemed to be a spur of
the moment reaction following the Declaration of War by Hammer in the DM 47 P-ads.
This is what stirred the mysterious hooded figure to seek Hammer with a request
that would change the managerial course of both men; ultimately Rocking the
Managerial World of Alastari as a result of the forthcoming decisions reached by the
two Veterans.
Time passed swiftly as both Veteran Managers discussed how the landscape of the
DM game on the sands of Alastari had changed over the years both in Basic and Tourney
play; producing a new breed of managers who would of necessity band together in an
alliance with a common goal; waging war against antagonists while improving the
managerial skills of each participating member in their glorious quest for DM
excellence.
Hammer listened intently as his unexpected guest inquired about the situation in
North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena; revealing his desire to participate in the upcoming
Turf War 4 contest in DM 47 with an alliance that would accept him on a more
permanent basis other than for just fighting together as a TW4 alliance to win fame
and Gift Certs.
Here was a Veteran Manager, seeking the advice of Hammer regarding an alliance
to join on a permanent basis; plus extending a sword arm of friendship and requesting
that Hammer join him as an alliance mate with those who would welcome their
membership.
The Iron in the Words of Hammer had produced this opportunity as a result of the
recent conflicts witnessed first hand by the manager seated across the table from
Hammer. This Veteran Manager had been secretly searching and scouting around
Alastari for someone worth his mettle to fight alongside; someone who would know
where to find the perfect gang of rebels who were unafraid of waging war against
anyone.
Hammer knew exactly where to look and in a matter of days the two newcomers were
welcomed into the ranks of a group of managers who received them as war waging equals
in an alliance that had joined a Confederation of Alliances for the TW4 contest.
Fighting under the banner of The Illuminati Confederation of Alliances alongside
members of Chaos Inc, kLk and The Company of Brothers during the TW4 was more than
either of the two Veteran Managers had envisioned a few months ago.
Hammer was now entering a new journey with a new attitude.
Perhaps you readers may have noticed that new attitude by now since this
announcement by Hammer is uncharacteristically Exclamation Point Free.
Except for the famous quote by Hammer at the end of this announcement.
Now that Hammer and the Mysterious Hooded Figure have agreed to join forces with
an alliance whose members have welcomed them enthusiastically; let those who desire
to be antagonistic be forewarned as to the identities of these newly welcomed wagers
of war:
