They were useless things, the horse that ran through the black rain would not respond to his commands. He looked to the right at Matarse Fury, to the left at Lew Siffer. Neither of those gladiators turned-charioteer was using reins. They seemed to be guiding their hell-horses by voice and whip and...maybe by their dark intentions. Hot Rod groaned. He wasn't a bad gladiator, not really, and he was a great chariot driver, but he just didn't do "dark intentions." He was a "long, sunny road" kind of guy. He stared down the wide road ahead of the chariots. It stretched...forever. He'd seen roads that appeared to go on forever, but in this case, it might not be a figure of speech. Horrid thought. Black with a darkness that knew no dawn, a darkness without stars. Pouring rain. Really not a good night for a chariot race, and if he didn't watch out, his thoughts would get so morbid that he'd just ACCEPT the situation. The Fate. He wasn't going to accept it. There had to be a way out of this! There was always a way out. Wasn't there even some kind of RULE about that? After all, the race wasn't always to the swift, or-- Wait, what did that MEAN exactly? Was there some way to turn that to his advantage? Perhaps if he-- A solid jolt that bounced his chariot onto its left wheel and sent it skidding toward Lew Siffer interrupted his thought. He glanced to the right, more than half afraid of what he might see. A...jaguar? No, it was Matarse Fury's chariot, but it had a sort of jaguar figurehead that was looking toward him and snarling, wicked fangs gleaming. The chariot was built low to the ground, and claws flashed around the edges of the wheels as they came closer and closer to his. Those steely claws would catch the rims and spokes of his wheel, stop it, rip it apart, cause him to crash. Maybe cause her to crash also, and then Lew Siffer would win the race! No! This was HIS, Hot Rod's race, and nobody else was going to win. He bent forward over the front shield, glaring at his horse, driving it onward with his dark intention. SPY REPORT Good day, friends and fiends, welcome to your friendly neighborhood spyreport. I doubt ZUWAYZA will ever be the same. It seems the training can make the difference, as JAGUAR WARRIORS is pushed out of top team by TAHAHN HAH, who came from 3rd with a 4-1-0 this turn. Now keep the taverns open late tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for WALI'S FINEST, whose 0-1-0 this turn dropped them by 6 into 8th. And let's see, STRATUS fought STARTER and gained 14 points and contributed to TEAM CHAOS' 3-2-0. STARTER has lost to STRATUS, falling 11 points, while helping make FIRE a 0-1-0 turn. Due to hers absence and inability to defend the throne, CARY YON has lost the title of Duelmaster. We should ask HEDED HAG about the thrill of victory, and what being the new Duelmaster does for a warrior, he's now the one to ask. By the way, was that our Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the table at The Drunken Ox? The crowd's roar, the smell of iron and leather, mixed with sweat, what more could a warrior ask of life? Well, besides that. I also notice that the THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on ZUWAYZA, what are you afraid of? And avoiding THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS more than any other team we find TAHAHN HAH. ZUWAYZA, are we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? The most challenged warrior this turn was THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS' warrior BLOOD SPORTS. More fighters challenged him than challenged the Duelmaster! A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to be true. LEW SIFFER must have surprised FUNKY FOLK this turn, after they sent him to the Dark Arena, but the Dark Arena couldn't hold him! A brave warrior does not carry a red shield, he has nothing to cover or hide when the fight is over. Consider well. Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare to fight bravely. Well, I'm burning daylight here in ZUWAYZA and I've a long road ahead of me. Happy Trails. Until you see my quill in ZUWAYZA again, farewell-- Alarond the Scribe DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME HEDED HAG 4872 13 4 4 97 JAGUAR WARRIORS (296) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -HAWKINS 4649 13 2 1 129 THE SIERRAS (393) -MURPHY 4703 16 6 2 111 THE SIERRAS (393) -CARY YON 4879 9 4 0 103 FUNKY FOLK (405) DEO VOLENTE 4751 23 16 1 96 JAGUAR WARRIORS (296) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -VED BUENS ENDE 4749 20 18 5 83 JAGUAR WARRIORS (296) HIDEKI HAO 4874 10 6 1 75 JAGUAR WARRIORS (296) CHALLENGER ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME LEW SIFFER 4875 10 3 2 65 FUNKY FOLK (405) AURORA 4950 8 3 0 58 TEAM CHAOS (422) -MATARSE FURY 4880 8 7 2 57 JAGUAR WARRIORS (296) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME HOT ROD 4854 11 19 0 52 THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS (241) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME STRATUS 4946 5 6 0 32 TEAM CHAOS (422) TIPPY 4943 3 0 0 30 TAHAHN HAH (420) -DARK CHOCOLATE 4922 2 1 0 29 WALI'S FINEST (419) BLOOD SPORTS 4926 5 1 0 28 THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS (241) FINESSE 4930 3 2 0 27 TAHAHN HAH (420) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME FLIGHT JOURNAL 4907 3 5 0 22 THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS (241) -WHITE CHOCOATE 4923 3 0 0 21 WALI'S FINEST (419) STARTER 4920 2 1 0 20 FIRE (418) GRUNT 4929 2 3 0 19 TAHAHN HAH (420) ONG-BAK 4928 3 2 0 18 TAHAHN HAH (420) TOPO GIGIO 4947 2 3 0 18 TEAM CHAOS (422) AURELIUS GAIUS 4949 2 5 0 16 TEAM CHAOS (422) NIFTY NICKEL 4941 3 1 1 15 THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS (241) -RED LAKE 4834 3 2 0 14 THE SIERRAS (393) TIMES 4908 3 5 0 14 THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS (241) FLAVIUS VALERIUS 4948 3 4 0 13 TEAM CHAOS (422) -VERN ACULA 4944 1 0 0 10 FUNKY FOLK (405) CARAMEL 4921 2 2 0 8 WALI'S FINEST (419) -JEWEL 4924 1 2 0 5 WALI'S FINEST (419) -MUD 4910 1 1 0 4 THE SIERRAS (393) '-' denotes a warrior who did not fight this turn. Not a downchallenge! 20 October 2006 In accordance with those rules set forth by the Lady of the Realm, I hereby announce the formation of a small group of managers calling themselves "The Outsiders". The group consists of the following members: Doc LeGrande Apex Street Legal Carnage Ghoti Roadkill Valamond This group has only one rule. Respect the play of the managers of this alliance. We have no worries about not playing by the rules set forth by others. We fight the way we like, and all those in this group appreciate what tools each manager brings. We have managers from the Delarquan, Andorian and Free Blade regions. We have managers that focus on the tournament arenas, and we have those that focus on the regular city arenas. We have those in our ranks that fight with honor and respect for all, and we have those that have a bloodlust that cannot be quenched. Our goal is simple. To create a ensemble of managers that will show their prowess in the land of Alastari, and to bring a new level of competition to all those that share the sands with our warriors. Our warriors are many throughout the land. We have no home arena. We have no pacts we abide by. Our fighters range from Mordant to Talcama, from Lapur to Lyratilan, Aruak City to Valamantis, the Primus arena to Talahya, and many more arenas throughout the land. Whether we are sought out or ignored makes no difference to us. We are what we are. We fight how we fight. And we do it however we wish. We have no rules. We have no leader or ruler. Be prepared. We are. 20 October 2006 The Dark Knights of the Desolate Empire respond thus to the Avengers of the Light: Where are you? EACH AND EVERY Dark Knight can be found in arenas 31 and 52. Your pretty words mean less than nothing if you won't fight. EVERY Dark Knight is more than willing to back up their talk. So...we give you three turns in either 31 or 52, REPEAT 31 or 52 to show up or shut up. If you don't show we'll let all of Alastari know the Avengers are indeed cowards! -- Dark Knights of the Desolate Empire LAST WEEK'S FIGHTS LEW SIFFER viciously butchered MOUNTAIN TROLL in a 2 minute bloody Dark Arena fight.
