"It's infamous!" Ardane, spy reporter for Andorak, scowled and drew back his
arm to throw his goblet through the window at the crowd outside. Then paused to
drain the contents before resuming the about-to-throw-it position.
"Now, now, it isn't THAT bad." Desiree of Darkholm, always the voice of sweet
reason at these meetings, laid a hand on his, smiled, and guided the goblet back to
the table. "It's just a little mistake, you know."
"Ha!" Debby Tonte of Free Blades stabbed viciously into her drink with an
umbrella. "That's easy for YOU to say. The Delarquans aren't complaining."
"Of course not." Galen of Talahya looked faintly envious as she pulled a chunk
of pineapple out of her glass and began to nibble it. "That's because the Delarquans
are THE Masters of Kung-Fu."
"You think some managers are complaining," Olaf Modeen said, "you should hear
what the GLADIATORS are saying. All these rumors about the Aimed Blows having
'special enhancements'..." he shook his head. "I know it isn't true, you know it
isn't true, the top managers know it isn't true--"
"Of course it isn't true!" Ketchum, spy reporter for Crysalis, matched scowls
with Ardane and said, "If ANY one style was going to get a special enhancement, it
should be--"
"Not now, Ketch," Olaf said. "Nobody gets, nobody has gotten, nobody WILL get,
special enhancements. That's always been the rule, and we all know how the Greywand
hates changes. The real problem--"
"Try telling that to some of the managers," Debby muttered, peering into her
glass for more fruit. "They don't want to hear it. Every time I turn around, some
manager is claiming that someone got a special change and, you know, HE didn't and
it's all unfair."
"The REAL problem," Olaf said firmly, over-riding her voice, "is explaining to
all the second-rate Aimed Blows why they haven't received any of these 'special
enhancements' they keep hearing about."
"There aren't any special enhancements," Ardane growled. "None. Just managers
who noticed that the Kung-Fu Master is a lot more dangerous than anyone expected, and
have put YEARS into the study of Kung-Fu and learned how to really USE it for their
own gladiators."
"Saved a lot on weapons, too," Ketchum murmured.
"But people keep complaining," Debby Tonte said. She fished one last piece of
fruit out of her glass and stared at it dubiously.
"There WERE no special enhancements," Olaf said. "There ARE no special
enhancements. There WILL BE no special enhancements. It's all a matter of deep
study and skilled management."
"Like anyone's going to believe that!"
"They have no choice," Ketchum said. "If no 'special enhancements' were given
out, then none can be taken back. It is the way it is. What's the point in
complaining because the sun rises in the east?"

Notes from the arena champ.
It has been a long time since Caesar has been active here in Zuwayza. It was also
purely coincidental that we returned on the Ides of March! Perhaps an omen of sorts?
Regardless, it is nice to be back here and we will do what we can to help contribute
to the arena in terms of participation. The teams have certainly dwindled since the
days of Julius. He is now in Primus and doing his best to maintain a decent record.
Not an easy place to win....
Aurora, that was certainly interesting. I liked the learns better on our first
encounter. Regardless, you can have the title back this turn. I'm sitting this one
out to keep my FE at 10 fights and ensure a berth in the Initiates Tournament.
Jaguar Warriors, we will be Bloodfeuding in the near future. Brutus was a very good
Total Parry design. Why is it that all of the good ones are killed so easily while
the crap never seems to die?
Anyway, best of luck to all in the upcoming tourney. I will be back after that
event.

SPY REPORT
It is I, Novgorodny Vir, Spymaster of Spymasters. Look on my work, ye mighty,
and despair! THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS had cause to celebrate, after BLOOD SPORTS got 19
points by beating KHALHUMS DWARF. HIDEKI HAO certainly had a baffled expression on
his face, after losing to AURORA and losing 5 points in the process! Can you believe
it? DARDANIUS apparently has better things to do as ZUWAYZA's Duelmaster than show
up and fight! In ZUWAYZA, nothing is permanent (except Death), and we find ourselves
a new Duelmaster, HAWKINS. Word has it one team in ZUWAYZA is using psychics to
predict wins. They lead a charmed life!
A Zenmaster once told me, 'Does not the spinning wheel turn? And do not the
little birds cry out?' Any ideas? Like the noble eagle soaring amongst the
mountaintops, so stand the warriors of IDES OF MARCH, alone and unchallenged. As a
woman of good breeding scorns the "warriors" of JAGUAR WARRIORS, so did that sorry
team shy from IDES OF MARCH Is it charming personality? Conversational abilities?
Good oral hygiene? Whatever it is, BLOOD SPORTS is the most challenged warrior.
Willing to win at any cost is METELLUS, who challenged TRITON, 8 points junior. Our
sympathies, TRITON! I thought METELLUS showed great skill and promise when he beat
TRITON. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Like the wind whispering among the pines, do hearest I many disquieting rumors.
More than one waitress at The Drunken Ox was spilling more drinks than usual last
week, as JASMINE's early demise became known. What will WALI'S FINEST do??? Never
one to advocate diplomacy and restraint, I was pleased to see TEAM CHAOS retaliate
against JAGUAR WARRIORS in bloodfeud! Questions are being raised about the disposing
of severed body parts in the arena. A certain tavern in ZUWAYZA would I avoid!
Do not think spyreporting in ZUWAYZA is the highlight of my life. More
important duties call me. Like a mixed metaphor, and an overtaxed simile, I now bid
