DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings, warriors of Zuwayza! If last turn is any indication, scum has indeed
risen to the top... Eric almost had me, but I was just a tad bit scummier. Also, my
apologies for not writing a column the turn before, but Caesar took me out golfing
and we drank too many Bass Ales afterwards.... Unlike many out there throughout
Alastari, we Romans try to write a column each and every time.
The prior turn's fight was rather interesting. Our friend Bart Simpson is definitely
experiencing financial hardship. When you cannot afford a weapon, things must be
really bad. Well, Bart came charging out like a wolf in the hen house, salivating at
the prospect of an Aimed Blow versus Total Parry matchup. Well guess what? My steel
encasement really can do a number on your fists. Like Cheech and Chong once stated,
"keep on knocking but you can't come in." Oh well, Bart's a good guy and while we
wished he would have selected Free Blades for his freshman experience, we still wish
him the best of luck. Perhaps we will see Deep Thought hit Free Blades on the next
cycle?
Looks like the end of the road for me. Caesar is going to let me retire early to his
Country Club on the outskirts of Arvat. So what did I end up looking like? 9-15(1)-
9-15-21-5-11 GOOD/NORM, LS, VL/VL, Adex Attack and Defense, Master Parry and I favor
Attack learns. One more fight for me, in the dark and I'm free to swing my golf
clubs until my heart is content. Time for Wee Man and Stewie Griffin to step up to
the plate. The next few turns should be a nice run for Deep Thought with few threats
on the horizon at the top end.
It would be nice to hear from Papa Bear and the Funky Folk. These old mega-managers
have become a bit apathetic as they've grown older, which is why many of these arenas
are silent and dreary.... C'mon Papa! Zuwayza needs you.
The Ides of March have sent Tiberius and one of our newest members, Lucius, to the
upcoming tourney. There is a great prize this time around and we wish everyone the
best of luck with getting their hands on one!
Farewell Zuwayza!
Publius
Duelmaster & Lord Protector

SPY REPORT
Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly ZUWAYZA games. Former top team CUNNING RUNTS was
unseated this week as THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top
spot with a 3-2-0 record for the round. OPPIUS caught the eye of many in the
gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested MODEL RAILROADER and was awarded 22
points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, TRASH COLLECTOR put
down MINI ME, causing him to lose 13 points of recognition in the process. As is
fitting, the most sought after warrior on the challenge boards this week was none
other than Duelmaster PUBLIUS himself. Unwilling to wait upon the will of others,
Duelmaster PUBLIUS Dark Arena Challenged HIGH ELF last week in a match to decide the
fate of the throne. Not for nothing has PUBLIUS in the past laid claim to the
Duelmaster's throne, and this week he's proven his combat skill yet again. Heed
this! A seer has warned that if exactly 6 die in duels this week, the whole city
shall perish! Just remember...5 or 7!
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city ZUWAYZA. I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when this week's
challenge seeking began. THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS is feared. This much I can say. If
you didn't look down dark alleys you'd have been hard pressed to find any of IDES OF
MARCH last week. Busy avoiding THE MAGNIFICENT MAGS?
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? PUBLIUS has sworn to take up religion upon living to tell of his
recent bout with the Dark Arena horrors. A rare thing indeed! My hearty
congratulations TRASH COLLECTOR, for thy revenge upon MINI ME, slayer of thy fallen
comrade. Next time he will know better, eh? Some say a warrior is judged by the way
he bears arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy
company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till next we
meet remember - the pen is mightier than the sword, but a maul is a different
story!-- Zontani Sharp Eyes

Mort Tiffide -- And so you should be! Were you, by chance, trying to use me as a
substitute for the Dark Arena? I would not care for that. -- Modern Scene
The Ambitious Guard thought he could look down his nose at me because I'm a "mere"
trashman, neglecting to take into account that I am a Collector, which is never
"mere," and also almost as tall as he is, which makes the "down the nose" bit
problematical. -- Trash Collector, quietly vindicated
Tim Panni -- I don't think my ears will survive that! I thought a rooster at dawn
was loud, but, gods, you definitely take the gold-plated palm. -- Farm Weekly
So I "railroaded" the Mordant Deserter. Anyone want to tell me he didn't deserve it?
-- Model Railroader
Our congratulations to Publius. -- Jorja and the Magnificent Mags
Publius -- Congrats form the Cunning Runts. Eric want one more shot at you, but Wee
Man may beat him to it.
All -- Hope everyone did well at the Mail-In. I did not send in 50 warriors like
Kellembo, but it would be nice to have Zuwayza represent and bring a TV or 2 back. --
Deep Thought
Lord Protector Publius -- The infidel nations have taken up again the habit of
granting gifts to graduating gladiators, and we of the Glorious Empire would not wish
to be backward in this regard. The infidels, of course, are not offering lands,
having none to offer. We, however, would be willing to consider offering you, say,
a pleasant estate near Fratsfa? Of course, you will ahve to take it away from some
Fratsfan barbarian, acting on your own without imperial help, but surely that will
present no problem. -- Wakhirjath, Distributor of Lands
