The ink looks a little sharper and the words a little crisper now that I have found
and, after no small amount of effort, managed to install a new black ribbon on this
venerable machine. It almost feels disrespectful to put my dirty fingers upon the
keys.
I've now washed my hands and watched the black ink make its way down the sink drain.
It occurs to me that there is a theme there, but leave it, yea, leave it.
I have been afforded one of the rarest things in Seamian life: a second chance, a
second act. To strap on these insignia of Duelmaster and, well, do this work again.
I am pleased.
A river makes its way down a channel. It has, in fact, worn away that channel, worn
it down, worn it down. Wearied it beyond measure, forcing its will upon it, grinding
away at it relentlessly. And yet, the river still follows the path prescribed by the
channel and is oblivious to the fact. Like the black ink that made its way down the
sink, driven by a sluice of water. The ink has made its indelible mark upon the water
and yet the water doesn't notice, in such a hurry to hurry down a path towards that
which it is at once familiar and comfortable.
A lover rails away at their partner, battering away in an endless attempt to force
their will upon the other; and yet, it is the partner, the one that can look the lover
in the eye and say without bravado or prevarication "I will leave you if you don't do
what I say." The partner is the one with the power and, as much as the lover may
wail, the lover finds themselves forced down the path of acceptance and, despite
gnashing of teeth and beating of fist, capitulating to the partner because, after all,
they are the lover and not the partner.
A drunk starts slowly, testing the waters of blissful fuzziness over time. A
tolerance is tested again and again and, like the channel, beaten down. And yet, the
drunk continues down that same path while the alcohol looks on, amused and mildly
regretful. The drunk gets to where, in the end, where the alcohol wanted him to be.
And the alcohol helped him get there in a painfully inexorable fashion.
Geoplastique came to the fight looking like someone with a stereotype to prove. He
drug a stick onto the sands that was bigger than he was, thinking that was the path to
victory against someone like me. He was obviously hoping to do some damage with it.
And I let him, and so he did. He worked his way into a lather, funneled himself down
the preordained path of the ink, the lover, the alcoholic; and yet convinced that he
was succeeding when, euphemistically, he was actually sucking seed. He bashed and he
gnashed, he railed and he failed. And I led him down and, softly, like a partner, let
him travel down a path of choosing while choosing the right moment to disabuse him of
his illusions. It did not take long. Yet another overswing reflecting, in all
likelihood, an overcompensation for something but we shant dwell on that. I rapped him
once in his kidneys, a love tap really. But he got the message in a manner too clear
to deny. He dropped like a prom dress and offered surrender just as quickly.
My challenge this week is worthy if for no other reason than I have not fought him yet
and have beaten the other two current, and former, contenders. I'd fight Cluckeroo
but, for the life of me, I can never seem to find him around town.

SPY REPORT
And here we are! Welcome to turn 14 for the great arena of Seam! This place already
had a great history, but each of you is taking part in writing a new chapter for this
beautiful Andorian jewel. The tournament is over and the party-goers are slowly
meandering back to their various cities. I hope you have come for an exciting turn
14, my pretties! Let us get on with the reporting!
I am really sad to see Baron Von Speedster lose the throne. Why you ask? It is
simple really. The two turns he held the throne, the good BVS took the time to
address the masses by submitting a Duelmaster's column. I want to thank him for
taking the time to do so, and I want to offer my condolences for his loss of the
throne. Our attention now turns to our new Duelmaster, Dirt Nap from The Killing
Field. BVS took the initiative to issue a challenge to Dirt Nap, but it looks like
Seam's newest champion was ready for the fight. Congrats to Dirt Nap, who is managed
by Floyd. May we, perhaps, see a Duelmaster's column next turn?
The most avoided team this turn was Unlikely Heroes and House of Pain avoided them the
most. The tactic appears to have worked well for House of Pain as Painmaster's stable
takes the Top Team on the Move. There appears to be a post-tourney drought this turn
as 8 teams were missing. We hope they return to us next cycle. A hearty welcome to
the new team -- 21st Amendment! Welcome to our beautiful arena and may your stay be
filled with many victories! Whoa, there was much exclamation in those few sentences,
but I mean every excited word. Down challenges were nearly non-existent this turn.
Two of the most frequent down challenging teams were absent this turn, but I'll let
you connect your own dots with that information. Geoplastique went down 3 in a
challenge to Cluckeroo. Looking at the rankings last turn, challenge options were
limited for Seam's top ranked basher.
Kudos to Wyld Masquerade, Thirsty Thugs, and The Killing Field guilds for moving into
the top 5. Thirsty Thugs made the largest leap with a 10 spot move into 3rd. They
were trailed by Deadline's move of 8 ranks up the 3 Turn Record list. Floyd's crew
jumped 6 places to 4th from 10th; and Hombre's Seventh Sanctum moved up to 12th from
18th. It was not all sunshine and roses for every team in Seam. I'm Not Eggbert fell
out of the top 5 to 6th place. A 1-4 turn caused Holy Ship! to drop 10 places into
19th. The biggest tumble for turn 14 belongs to Nature Made. Their 1-4 turn caused
them to plummet 12 spots to 18th.
There were 7 deaths this turn with 3 of them compliments of our professional killers
in the Dark Arena. An arena stand by with the pedestrian name of Polite Beggar also
died this cycle at the hands of Casca from Twisted Asylum. You give and you take, or
in the case of Twisted Asylum, you take and you give. Nom fought only his second but
final fight in Seam. His blood feud against Balsa of Lost Sentinels did not end as he
had hoped. Balsa has now killed 2 members of the Twisted Asylum guild in the last few
turns. We bid farewell to Grocer Cat and Iron Moth this turn as well. Grocer Cat
looked to be on track for great things with a 9-4 record, but all that promise was cut
short by Elenoral. Iron Moth's winning ways came to an end as well at the hands of
Oban, who put down the 6-1-1 Unlikely Hero.
All right, my sweets, it is time for me to vamoose! Being around all those dead
warriors gave me split ends, so I have a salon appointment in Aruak City I need to
make! I will see your smiling (some sneering) faces next cycle for an exciting turn

Worley M Hobbit III -- Our first duel was with long spears. Well, they were the
kitchen knives that Lemming McDoughnut lashed to green saplings. He called them long
spears and we believed him. I arrived in Seam today and hobbled down to the arena to
inspect our new digs. The walls are lined with weapons, purely functional but wicked
in their efficiency. The thick shaft of a long spear caught my eye. I hefted it and
nearly sprained my wrist. Time, the old crone, has almost beaten me, but I am here. --
