Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings all,
Well, that went better than I expected. As I said, I was doing my best to avoid those
guys from Deities and Demigods. My heart sank a little when I saw that I had matched
up with Pucker & Bloat. The style matchup wasn't in my favor. Luckily, I was able to
pull out the victory. I'm still in shock, but shortly after the match, I got papers
from the Commission and I've been invited to the Isle of the Eye to continue my
training. I've been given a title and land as well! Whew, all these new scary things
from winning a few fights in the arena!
For those interested in particulars, I am 5-11-10-15-15-7-21 and prefer the Aimed Blow
style. The Commission says I like the Dagger, a LO/LO rhythm, the slash tactic, and
learning Decise skills. I don't really care for heavier weapons, so I have used the
dagger my entire fighting career. Lucky me!
Darque says now that I'm immortal, I should brighten up a little bit. He said there
is no reason to fear death anymore because I'm a Lord Protector. I bet it still hurts
if you die. I mean, I may be immortal, but getting stabbed in the gullet with a
dagger is going to hurt! Oh my, oh my! What have I gotten myself into?!?

SPY REPORT
Hello, my pretties! It is good to see you once again. The heat wave continues and my
hair continues to be the most important casualty of the brutal sun! Because of this
tragedy, I am making an effort to make hats more stylish and in vogue among the
nobility. I will update you on my progress later, but if you see me in the streets
wearing a toque, know that I won this battle. Enough about peripheral things, let's
talk about the arena.
Shadowdancer received an invite to the Isle last turn, so his reign was sure to come
to an end. The question before us was will he abdicate by challenging the Dark Arena
or going inactive. Or, would he issue a challenge or be challenged by one of the
Challenger Champions. Cpt. Buzzy stepped forward with a bold challenge to our
Duelmaster and he walked away crowned our new Champion of the Games! Congrats to Cpt.
Buzzy of the I'm Not Eggbert guild, managed by Vlad. Cpt. Buzzy has a great challenge
ahead of him as some of Seam's best warriors are waiting in the wings for their shot
at glory. Good luck to each of you on turn 230.
Deities and Demigods were the most avoided team for the second straight turn. Darque
Knights wanted nothing to do with any of those challenges, as alluded to in our
previous Duelmaster's speech, and gets the distinction of running away from Deities
and Demigods the most. Bumble Rumble received the most challenges, a distinction he
has now held three times. With accolades such as that, I'm never sure whether to
offer congrats or condolences. Bumble Rumble seems well able to handle himself in the
arena with an impressive 15-6-1 record, so perhaps congratulations are in order.
We are without a top team this turn as Philanthrolords jump from 3rd into a tie with
last turn's top team Thirsty Thugs. With the exception of Philanthrolords, who went
4-1, everyone else's turn skirted along the line of mediocrity with 2-3's or 3-2's.
There were a few 1-4's sprinkled in for good measure. There is very little movement
in the overall rankings. Pixelbenders enter the top 5, while Huckle's Cats falls out
of the top 5 dropping to 7th.
Celebrations are sure to erupt at the Deities and Demigods guilld house. Loki has
received his invite to the Isle of the Eye. He is the guild's first from Seam, so a
hearty congratulations are in order for Deep Thought's guild. Loki is the third
graduate from the newly re-opened Seam and its second Lunger. Assuming they have
studied well, I have it on good authority there are a few others the Commission is
eyeing for induction into the ranks of Alastari's immortal Lord Protectors. Look out
next turn for possible invitations to our Duelmaster Cpt. Buzzy and a former
Duelmaster Gilgamesh. There are a few others creating quite a stir among the
Commission-types that make such decisions, but I predict those two warriors will most
likely be Seam's next immortals.
Death came in the form of three Dark Arena fights and one horribly unlucky random
match up. The Losers guild sent two more to fight by torchlight, where Shewish
Bouncer and Spymaster were happy to oblige. Huckle sent the adorably named Snozzle to
his death as well, with Wurm Kin of the Dark Arena squad dispatching the young
warrior. Our only non-Dark Arena death occurred in a random match up between Rookies.
Visigoth of Lost Sentinels slaughtered the Pixelbender Smudge Stick in a one-sided, 1
minute fight. Condolences to Pixelbenders!
Remember, my loves, stay hydrated out there on the sands. And managers, be mindful
not to overwork your warriors in training. It is one thing to lose a gladiator on the
sands. It is quite another to lose one to foolishness at your guild house. Until
