DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Sidara Brightbell reviewed her notes one last time as Seam's current Duelmaster
took his seat across from her in the studio. Looking up, she put on a practiced
smile. "Welcome, sir! Thanks for agreeing to the interview."
"Well, I had more important, secret and fun stuff to do," he responded. Sidara
blinked as he continued, "But it is important to your readers, I suppose."
This was how it was going to be. She settled back. "So, tell me about
yourself."
"Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!! I am Captain Buzzy of the Bee Police,
defender of the skies and connoisseur of the honeys!"
"I've not heard of the Bee Police before."
"You must have a limited acquaintanceship."
"Pardon?"
"Granted."
"What?"
"What?" She paused to ruffle her papers and start over. A bit of color had
crept into her features. "How does it feel to be Seam's fourteenth Duelmaster?"
"Better than it would to be the thirteenth, believe you me!"
"Bad luck to be that one, I take it?" she asked with a grin.
The Duelmaster snorted. "I don't believe in luck and all that other hocus pocus
that dimwits suggest to be of import," Captain Buzzy responded. To look at Sidara, it
appeared as if the studio had gotten warmer. "Numerology, on the other hand, is
proven fact. Fourteen has good vibration, as my opponents can attest! It is one of
everlasting movement and brings trials and dangers from a great variety of
experiences."
"Uhm... yeah. So what number would you say I would be?"
"Oh, you're number two. Definitely." The reporter's eyebrows raised in inquiry.
Cpt. Buzzy absently waved his hand in front of his face. "You have that air."
Her eyebrows lowered as quickly as they went up. The corners of her mouth
followed. "Well, sir. What say you to the rumors that you're actually Eggbert?!"
She hadn't actually planned to address the rag sheet rumors, but this jerk needed to
be level set.
Captain Buzzy sat back with a start. "I know not of this Eggbert you speak of.
I am Captain Buzzy of the Bee Police, defender of the skies and connoisseur of the
honeys!"
Sidara took a deep breath. There was still time to salvage this for her readers.
"Ok, I get it. So, you consider yourself a connoisseur of the ladies?"
"The honeys," he corrected.
"As you wish. To what do you attribute your success with the honeys? Your
inherent charm?" She was laying it on here and hoped, but doubted, he'd pick up on
her thinly veiled sarcasm.
"That has little to do with it. I occasionally prefer a hot honey, but they can
often be more trouble than they're worth."
"I'll bet." This guy was a pig. Sidara was bright red with indignation at this
point. "So what's your favorite type of honey?"
"You wish to know?"
"I believe I did you the honor to ask."
"Ah, yes, you did, didn't you?" He sat back and looked off into space. He got a
far-away look on his face with an almost dreamy smile. "I think my favorite honey is
one that has been sufficiently whipped."
"WHAT?!" She rose, indignant. This was the last straw.
"Oh, definitely," he continued, still staring off at nothing and unaware even
that she had stood up. "I prefer my honeys malleable. The honeys always seem to have
an inherent resistance to what you want them to do. But after a good whipping, THEN
they spread quickly, believe you me!
Sidara looked like she wanted to explode. "This interview is over!" she
exclaimed and stomped out.
Some time later, Cpt. Buzzy drifted out of his reverie and, to his surprise,
found himself alone in the studio. With a shrug, he stood and made his way out.
SPY REPORT
Aargh! There is nothing more frustrating to a Spy Reporter than a non-story! Our
former Duelmaster, Cpt. Buzzy, has produced a "non-story" by being inactive this turn.
I guess that is a story in and of itself, but it is a boring story that no one wants
to read about. What happened, Buzzy? Did you get so self-involved during our
interview that you just couldn't be bothered to show up to the arena? Since your
teammates are also inactive, I'm going to assume the blame lies with your manager,
Vlad.
The actual story involving the Duelmaster's throne this week saw Bumble Rumble
fighting Cardhu. I am not sure they knew it was a title fight when the signal came to
FIGHT! But, Bumble Rumble still made the best of his situation by defeating Cardhu
rather quickly and being crowned our Duelmaster. Congrats to Bumble Rumble, who is
managed by Aragorn. Bumble also takes the Chartered Recognition Leader award and his
squad remains on top with a 10-5-0 record over the last 3 turns.
The most avoided team this turn is Darque Knights. Thirsty Thugs avoided them the
most. When you consider the rankings from last turn, it looks like Darque Knights was
perhaps favorably positioned below Thirsty Thugs rather than feared by them. Welcome
back to Hombre and his 7th Sanctum guild! We also want to welcome back The Outlaws 3
to the fold. The Outlaws 3 are still unchartered, so they easily snagged the
Unchartered Recognition Award with Cole Younger and the Unchartered Team spot.
Showing they are more than just an unchartered squad, The Outlaws 3 also took home the
Top Team on the Move Award with 57 points! Good job!
There were no significant changes in the team rankings this turn. Philanthrolords
remain on top with a 10-5-0 record. Deities and Demigods changes spots with Thirsty
Thugs, with the former rising to 2nd place and the latter dropping to 3rd. The Losers
vault up 5 places to 4th with a 3-2-1 turn. Darque Knights round out the top 5.
Huckle's Cats had a very nice 4-1-0 turn, but they actually slipped 1 spot in the
rankings from 7th to 8th.
Die Cut was the most challenged warrior for turn 30. He also happens to be listed
among our dead! Karma challenged Die Cut, which looked to be a pretty even match-up
considering both warriors' fight experiences and arena rankings. But, Karma proved to
be the better warrior in this bout, executing Die Cut in 1 minute. Bad Penny of Lost
Sentinels has fought his last bout as well. Randomly matched up with the returning
Belle Star, Bad Penny had a bad fight against Belle! The other death bouts were in
the Dark Arena with The Outlaws 3 sending sending 3/5 of their squad to the torch-lit
arena of death! Oooh, that sounded dramatic!
Moving from the mortal to the immortal, congrats to Bumble Rumble and Gilgamesh on
their invites. They become graduates number 4 and 5 from Seam. They are also our
first Strikers to reach immortality and will forever share that distinction with one
another in Seam's history books. Bumble Rumble is Philanthrolords first graduate from
20, while Gilgamesh becomes Deities and Demigods' second immortal. We wish you
continued success on the Isle, but look forward to one last round of fights with you
next turn. On a related note, we bid farewell to Loki this turn, who leaves with one
last victory under his belt after beating Maguvial.
I anticipate we will be seeing a number of folks heading toward the Isle of the Eye in
the next few turns. Cpt. Buzzy was up for the honor, but his inactivity has stalled
the process. Along with Buzzy, our resident connoisseur of the "honey," Lady
Songsteel and Geoplastique garner the most talk in the Challenger Champions among the
political elites that make up the Gladiatorial Commissions Invitation Committee.
There are a few Champions as well, such as Cardhu and Maguvial, that have gained
attention, but their performance on the sands has lagged of late.
I must be off, my dearies. Lots of places to visit and money to spend before the day
is over! I hope to see each of you back next turn. We will have a new champion since
Bumble Rumble is leaving us. You do not want to miss all the action, so start

cramp, the census form has been eliminated, effective immediately. Managers may

separate piece of paper and submitting them to the Commission. Each warrior may have
up to 15 favorite sayings. Each saying must be categorized Jeer, Gloat, Boredom, Ouch,
Victory and may be up to 70 characters long. For any questions, please contact the
