DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Captain Buzzy of the Bee Police, defender of the skies and connoisseur of the honeys,
here to fill your self-loathsome, dreary existence with super-secret fun stuff and
other thoughts you'd have if you could be like me.
I've gotten lots of mail since my last fight and, coincidently, since that interview
with whomever that reporter was. So much so that I couldn't open and respond to it
all, even if I were inclined. Which I am not. There are literally sack loads of it
out on the porch. And, even if I initially WERE inclined, I would not be after
reading a sample of it.
"Women for Women", "Alastari Coalition of Women", which, I noted with a chuckle,
abbreviated to "A COW", "Ubiquitous Equality", "Femme Fatale", "Futures Without
Violence" etc. etc. From all of these groups and others I've received what look to be
enthusiastic and numerous suggestions on all manner of improbable things ranging from
anatomically unlikely self-reproductive acts to scatological culinary ideas. I would
say that I appear to have angered someone but that would be an egregious
understatement. I appear to have angered everyone, though I am mystified as to how.
Those that haven't given me creative suggestions have expressed a desire to help me,
though to help me what, I have no idea.
And then there are the protesters.
People have been outside my house for days now, shouting with large placards and signs
indicating at once both a passionate message and a lack of wit:
"No means no!"
"Take back the night!"
"Break the cycle"
"If you abuse, you lose."
I have no idea what they are prattling on about out there but, for the benefit of you
readers, I shan't let it ruin my whipped honey. In this instance, I am enjoying it on
a plain cracker which serves as a deliciously neutral vehicle for the exquisitely
subtle taste of this honey. This honey was actually extracted from an 1,800-meter
deep cave using a team of spelunkers. Apparently someone observed a large number of
bees flying in and out of the cave and found a treasure trove of honey. I normally
couldn't afford this sort of luxury but, being the Duelmaster and, I am told, now
immortal, I have done an internal check and confirmed that I am worth it!
I suspect people will want to hear about the fight with Lady Songsteel. I can't
imagine why. I hit her a few times, she died. Got blood all over my outfit too.
I'll be sending the Darque Knights my cleaning bill, believe you me! I guess she did
put up a bit of a ballyhoo at first, but not much at the end. Kind of like my honey
until it, too, was whipped.
Funny how that works.

SPY REPORT
Hello, my pretties! It is good to see you once again. I am always my most
chipper on the day New Seam opens here gates for the games! An exhilaration that I
cannot explain overtakes me and does not pass until the final fight. I hope you are
just as excited as I am or more so! After all, you ladies and gents enjoy the
excitement of the fights firsthand. I only observe and report on them. Speaking of
which, let's do a little of that now.
Our former Duelmaster Cardhu is now on his way to the Isle of the Eye. Before
packing up all his gear and relocating, he had one last fight in Seam. I can't
decipher if our Duelmaster was avoiding all the Challenger Champions or if the
Challenger Champions were avoiding Cardhu because matched up with The Ogre Sprite of
Philanthrolords ranked in the Champions class. Do not let the rankings fool you
because The Ogre Sprite is our new Duelmaster after defeating Cardhu in an action
packed 1 minute bout. Congrats to The Ogre Sprite, who is managed by Aragorn.
The Outlaws 3 must be as dangerous as their name implies because they are this
turn's most avoided. The new team on the block, Commercialist, avoided them the most.
Hahari Hel of Darque Knights was the most challenged warrior this turn. Is it perhaps
the undefeated record? Zeros on either side of the win/loss column tend to attract
attention. So who got the opportunity to fight Hahari Hel? It was Spuds McKenzie,
the party animal, who successfully got his challenge through. Sadly, it doesn't look
like Hahari Hel was game for partying. She defeated Spuds in an uneven fight 1 minute
fight. Commercialist hit a bit of a Sophomore slump going 1-4-1 this turn, which runs
opposite to their strong 4-1-1 first turn. Stick with it, gents! The games can be a
fickle mistress at times, but persistence pays off in the end.
We had a few deaths this cycle that did not happen in the Dark Arena. Deities
and Demigods, Philanthrolords, and Pixelbenders each sent 1 to the night fights. in
the main arena, 3 gladiators lost their lives. Bad Penny of Lost Sentinels gets her
final loss and leaves the arena at 4-6-0. Anchor Point 2.0 from Pixelbenders also saw
the end come to his short career at 1-2-0. Perhaps the most recognizable name on the
dead list this turn was Cole Younger, who has held the Unchartered Recognition Award
for the last 3 turns. Young Cole leaves us with a serviceable 5-3-0 record. Cole
Younger's killer, one Pucker & Bloat from Pixelbenders, is no stranger to killing as
he notches a third death on his belt. Condolences to all those who lost a warrior,
and good luck to those who will be on the receiving end of feuds for the next 4 turns.
Losers are the winners this turn! Yeah, it sounds weird saying, but it is
nonetheless true. Losers take over the top team spot from Philanthrolords with a 10-
5-0 record over the last 3 turns. Their 4-1-0 record this turn certainly helped with
that feat! Lost Sentinels enter the top 5 by climbing up from 10th, which happens to
be the largest gain for turn 33. The biggest drop belongs to Huckle's Cats, who
dropped 6 spots to 12th. We had 2 inactive teams this turn as regular competitors
Hombre and Vlad were absent. We hope they return to us next turn.
Well, my lovelies, that is all that I have to report this turn. I do hope to see
each of you back next turn. Can The Ogre Sprite hold onto the throne or will a wily
Challenger Champion seize an opportunity for greatness? These are the questions that
