SPY REPORT
Hello, my darlings! Achoo! Pardon me, I am a bit under the weather this week.
While I can guard against the magical abuses of others and even the assaults on good
hygiene from brutes such as Huard over in Shadowspire, I have found no reliable
defense against the common cold! So, my avoidance of people this week had nothing to
do with, how did the one manager put it, "noble snobbery." I merely thought it better
to avoid contact and spreading my illness. You're welcome! Now, let's talk about the
turn.
It is exciting when we have a Duelmaster that does not get invited to the Isle
immediately. I mean, it is exciting when they get invited too, but I like to see the
Duelmaster plan, challenge, and defend for the next turn with it all on the line!
With an invite and immortality, it is exciting, just less so that the alternative.
Farmer Alfalfa has been Duelmaster since turn 92. He defended his seat successfully
the last turn against a Challenger Champion challenge. This turn, our top warrior
faced off against Castor Lynxear. It was a long match at 11 minutes, but all those
long days in the fields must have paid off as Farmer Alfalfa remains our Duelmaster.
He has now successfully defended his title against both Lynxear brothers! The good
farmer is managed by Huckle Cat.
The most avoided team is the absent Weirding Ways. They were mostly avoided by
I'm Not Eggbert. It is always wonderful news to me when the Duelmaster is the most
challenged warrior. Yes, our dear title-holder received more challenges than any
other warrior in the arena. Granted, it was only 3 challenges, but it is progress!
Since I have already covered that match, I'll use this space to pass out
congratulations to our newest graduates. Stalwart arena veterans, Bad Penny and
Vault, were given papers at the conclusion of the fights today. They were invited to
the Isle of the Eye! Yes, it is exciting news to be sure! May they go forth to
immortality and represent Seam well!
I'm not Eggbert and Phantom Regiment tied for the top team. Darque Knights were
in a good position to seize the top spot, but 0-5-0-2 just is not going to cut it in
this arena. As expected, they took a tumble out of 2nd place and fell to 11th, which
is next to last. Actually, they were only saved from the bottom of the barrel because
alphabetically they come before Thirsty Thugs. Huckle's Cats moved up 3 spots to take
over 3rd. Pixelbenders also had a nice gain at a 4-1-0 turn and took over 4th.
Deities and Demigods round out the top 5. I'm Not Eggbert had the largest gain,
moving from 8th to number 1.
Two Dark Arena deaths did not offer much entertainment to the masses. The most
shocking, maybe because it was the only regular death, took place when Scythe faced
off with Mr. Raccoon. Scythe leaves this mortal coil at 10-12-3. Those 3 kills may
support the old adage, "Live by the sword; die by the sword." We will have to wait
and see if Losers retaliate for the loss of their arena veteran. Weirding Ways was
missing this turn, but everyone else active. We had a total of 30 fights, 3 deaths,
and 2 graduations! I would say it was a successful turn overall.
Oh my! Time for me to go, my sweets! I have to make a concoction that is going
to cause this dreadful headache to go away! I'm sure I have the ingredients around

Sidara Brightbell, Ganolus, and the rest of Seam -- If I may interject... The old
guard of Aradi at least had a sense of humor. I miss the quality and quantity of the
team spotlights written there. Let's reminisce a bit, shall we? Who remembers Nuln's
annual spotlight in which he would kill most of the managers in Aradi which sparked
lots of revenge spotlights that were all in good fun? Do you remember Silk and the
Aradi-ca writing contest full hot and steamy spotlights that should've never been
published in the newsletter, but when you have a staff that devours romance novels,
the spotlights must've seemed tame at the time? And let's not forget Aradi's sibling
arena Khalhums. Those managers did NOT have a sense of humor. I still have some of
those sternly written diplomatic notes from Khalhum's managers warning me that I have
just pissed off some of the best managers in the game. So, here we are some twenty-
plus years later, and not much has changed. :) -- Weirdo

Congratulations to the winners of the Winter 2019 Bloodgames!
We held two Bloodgames arenas at the Winter Face to Face:
FTF-Style (DM 96): for Face-to-Face attendees, with turn-by-turn strategies
Mail-in-Style (DM 97): for all managers, with one strategy for all ten rounds
Each manager's Bloodgames team had ten warriors, one of each style, all attributes
according to the manager's desire (84 points total). After ten rounds of brutal
battles, the Bloodgames Champions are the living warriors with the greatest number
of kills (only one of each style in each arena). These champions have been granted
