DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
The second graduate from Darque Knights in a month! What is the world coming to? Oh,
it is becoming barren and empty. It is easy to rise to the top when there isn't anyone
beating you down. I'm lucky to have gotten my invite with a perfect .500 record, so I
will not complain. I am immortal now, which I have been working towards since I
started. One more fight in our beautiful Seam arena, and I am off to the Isle!
For those that like particulars, I am 17-6-20-21-9-4-7. I am +2 PAR, but appear to be
mode in every other area. The Commission says that I like the WH, which seemed obvious
from the start, but after the fiasco with Lexxee, Darque was hesitant to show any
confidence. I like a HI/MO rhythm and the Decise tactic. Parry learns come easier than
all the others, but that was obvious, too.
I am the 19th graduate from this team, and I also happen to be the 19th Basher that
Darque has run to immortality. I am the 188th overall graduate.
I am challenging Sonny Boy to avenge my fallen comrade. The challenge has no ill
intent, but I think I am the only one on this team with a shot at succeeding. I will
make a second challenge to someone in the Challenger Champions just in case Sonny is
inactive. Hopefully, we will have more teams back this week. I hate to see such a
nice arena dwindle.

SPY REPORT
Well, hello, you marvelous darlings of mayhem! It's me again, Sidara Brightbell, your
arena's resident good witch with the magic quill dipped in truth serum. I've floated
in on a cool breeze to deliver this turn's report straight from the heart of Seam.
Ooh, dears, it was a doozy!
All eyes sparkled with anticipation as the center of the arena lit up for today's
title match. I Know You Are of Rubber vs Glue claimed the crown by the slimmest margin
against a departing Exyl Rott. It was a six-minute affair of high dueling drama worthy
of a standing ovation- and maybe a celebratory glass of wine or three. "I know you
are, but what am I?" Darling, you are the Duelmaster and new champion of Seam, that's
what you are!
Whew! The entire arena seemed to tiptoe around Thirsty Thugs. With warriors like Hodja
bringing the pain, who can blame anyone for steering clear? Even the boldest warrior
found something else to do when it came time to face Thirsty Thugs on the sands. And
who, might you ask, avoided them the most? The crew of Rubber vs Glue was as slippery
as a greased pixie. They avoided DMobster's crew like their lives depended on it!
Moving on to the most challenged warrior, we find Hilda Hippo of Huckle's Cats. Hilda
was the belle of the ball, though this attention came with bruises. Like Sunday
defeated Hilda to jump up to 99 recognition points. Hilda lost the match, but she
remained in the Challenger Champions bracket.
Seeing so many empty spaces in the gladiator pens breaks this witch's heart. This turn
saw another absence from the No Tournament Blues guild. I hope they are just taking a
bubble bath and not quitting the scene entirely! To close it out, we bid Exyl Rott the
fondest farewell. Her time in Seam is done, and she is off to the Isle of the Eye.

Sorry for not playing last turn, I was too depressed to send the guys into the arena.
"Why, Pappy, why?", you surely ask. Well, the day started out perfectly -- bright and
sunny and the Morrissey concert had finally arrived! Everything was planned out -- I
had bought tickets months ago for my wife and myself, I had reservations at a hip
nuevo Mexican restaurant within walking distance, and then after the concert we'd go
to a rooftop bar that was also within walking distance. Then it all started falling
apart. The first thing to happen was the concert was cancelled just hours before it
was to start. We decided to go ahead with going out since we already had the
babysitter lined up. The second bad thing to happen was we got to the restaurant but
it was overrun with college kids because it was Cinco de Mayo. It was a Monday, kids!
A school night! So we decided to go to a nearby Italian place which was fine but then
the third bad thing to happen was it started to rain, ruining the rooftop bar
experience. It's Tucson, southern Arizona, a desert! It doesn't rain here! Heaven
knows I'm miserable now. --Pappy
