"What's that?" Rogan yelled across the crowded table to his team mate, cupping a
hand to his ear, "Chavez Ravine Arena? When did they change its name to Chavez...
oh...how come? Well ok, never mind that now. I received word yesterday and we leave
tomorrow at daybreak. We are escorting this gentleman and his family to 'Chavez
Ravine' previously known as Daiyla Kiv."
Rogan nodded slightly to the middle aged man at his side wearing the garb of the
sand dwellers. "This is Arjuna. Arjuna, this is my crew. Does anyone have any
questions or concerns before we start preparations?"
Rogan looked about at his friends one by one and then to his new charge. "No
questions? Ok, we meet back here tomorrow morning an hour before dawn, I will be in
my room studying our route. Wrathchilde, get the horses and food stuffs ready for a
three day journey. Stormchilde, you prepare the weapons. Emnity, you come with me
and Moonbeam, you help Wrathchilde. OK?"
Rogan turned slightly to Arjuna and bowed his head then gestured towards the
stairs. "Shall we?"

"Princess? I didn't know she was a princess," Tolugat muttered. "Princess
Tirisha? This changes everything!"
"Yeah." Adabemis & Balmador nodded with satisfaction. "This gives us, you
know, whatchit. Not just a back-street cult. We've got a princess."
"She'll be picky," the priest objected. "She'll want velvet cushions to kneel
on. Good wine. All that fancy stuff we can't afford--"
"Hey, it makes a good show!" the gladiator protested. "People like a good show.
Velvet cushions, okay, maybe not, but we have to have good wine. And blood
sacrifices. Lots of them." His eyes glittered. "Lots of blood...."
Tolugat began to look uneasy. "That could attract unfavorable attention.
Rulers don't like that, they shut down cults that do a lot of sacrificing, they--"
"But Princess Tirisha's going to be the ruler," the gladiator pointed out.
"She's one of us. She's on OUR side. She LIKES a good bloody cult, I can tell." He
grinned, the glitter in his eye becoming more pronounced.
"Oh. Oh, of course," the priest said faintly. "Why didn't I think of that...."
"And we'll have lots of gladiators," Adabemis & Balmador went on. "Gladiators
like blood, too. Gladiators are INTO dark cults, after all. It'll be great!"
"Right... great. Of course," Tolugat muttered. "Lots of...," he swallowed
hard, "lots of blood."
Mordant, the royal palace:
Talissen, Queen of Mordant, threw down the spy's report and glared across the
breakfast table at her husband, King Samir of Trocar. "You see! I told you that if
we didn't deal with Sibikhas and Rodeki, there would be trouble."
Samir shrugged and cut himself another slice of ham. "If it gets out of hand,
you can crack down on things, but I like the idea of letting the contenders for
Overlord of Sibikhas fight it out among themselves. Fewer discontented challengers
left around to make trouble later."
"And I told you I thought it was a bad idea, on several counts," she snapped
back. "That kind of chaos is not good for the nation, in the first place. Second,
the winner could end up being TOO strong, and everyone knowing it. Third, it ignores
the legal solution, that Morra of Jhans, as Gryzash's wife, should be regent until
his son is old enough to take the rule--"
"She's got experience at being a regent," Samir remarked, frowning thoughtfully.
"Rather convenient, isn't it, that just when her job ends in Jhans, here comes
another one in Sibikhas...."
"Coincidences DO happen sometimes. That's why we have a name for them," the
Queen replied. "And the fourth reason is that if there is to be some new rulers
among my vassals, *I* should be the one to choose them."
"That's the best reason," Samir agreed. He shrugged again. "So choose one.
But if it isn't someone with the strength to defend the position, you'll have to
commit YOUR army to supporting him. And if your army's not at home, then you could
be vulnerable."
After a moment's thoughtful silence, Talissen said, "I need more information.
And I need some warriors to be bodyguards for whoever I do choose. Gladiators, I
think. Very useful people, gladiators."

Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings, Sunset,
A second turn upon the throne for me. The view is good but the vendors never seem to
make it this far. The Butcher wasn't up to my challenge but at least he got a skill
out of it, apparently your opponent has to actually do something to learn anything at
the top. What a bother!
Things are more promising this turn as a new challenger, with a TV yet, reaches the
upper ranks. I'll make all plans for fighting Mr. Twister this turn. A guy named
Twister and a gal called Tsunami. You could just tell we were destined to have a
'stormy' relationship.... Sonya, I promise, if I'm still here next turn, I'll do all
I can to give you that rematch. Until next I hold the lofty perch, life to you
warriors and everlasting glory!

SPY REPORT
Thankyouthankyou. It's great for me, The Unknown Spymaster to be back in
SUNSET. Hope you enjoy the show. Oh, who am I kidding? I already got paid! Say
good-bye to RAGE, as they are pushed from the coveted top team spot by the STORM
WARNING stable. It was a tough week for MINISTRY OF SKA, to drop 8 places in the
rankings. Coming up with a solid 3-2-0 outing, TRANSGRESSORS has advanced 4 places
in the rankings. Hey everybody, watch out for ROGAN, who flew up 20 points in the
rankings after mashing RAZOR MELODY like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy. Ya
know, some days it doesn't pay to walk out on the sands. GERYON was beat by SENSEI
JAN and drops 17 points. MR. TWISTER got through to the Duelmaster this turn. No
doubt he was more than anxious to kick TSUNAMI's tail out of the throne! Going for
the gusto and coming up with aught but bloody knuckles was IRONIC TAILS' MR. TWISTER,
who was turned away from the Duelmastership by TSUNAMI. An apple a day keeps the
doctor away, but an onion a day keeps T.P.s at bay.
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the SUNSET arena. And hey,
kiddies, those of you who didn't avoid CARNAGE CANARIES, please raise you hand. Wow.
Does SUNSET really have that many liars? And you guys like to boo me? Well, unsling
your rasberries, cause YAKUZA beats feet every time CARNAGE CANARIES smiles at them.
Try farming, eh? Well just about everybody wants a piece of TALPER, who was this
week's most challenged warrior. Was it guts or an overtaxed mental capacity that had
KITTY CHOWDER challenge up 44 points in the rankings to take on SONJA BLOODBANE?
This week KITTY CHOWDER 16-11-1 fought SONJA BLOODBANE 17-7-0 and in losing gained 5
points. I know several gladiators who could go for a few fights like that. EMNITY
of RAGE had better have a good reason for challenging down 14 points in a challenge
which she won. I thought EMNITY showed great skill and promise when she overcame
RONALD REAGAN. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Death is kind of like a new puppy: he's always around wanting to play. (Ha
Zontani, how's that for a wise saying?). In the 'Oops, What Have I Done?' category,
CAT KABOB was mashed by GLIMMOR, who let CAT KABOB know that killing members of GRIM
FANDANGO is a no-no. Knowing when to use the right tactics at the proper time is a
very important step on the road to Duelmaster.
Well, that wasn't too bad; Alarond told me that the people in SUNSET have no
sense of humor. Or maybe that they were senseless. Well, there goes another Spy

Greetings! I would like to invite everyone to Jhans (DM 36) for the first annual kLk
St. Valentine's Day Massacre (kill contest). We will start the contest off with the
ceremonial burning of the Andorian flag on turn 450. (Six turns away. Roughly mid-
February.) The contest will run for 10 turns. On turn 461, 3 separate victors will
be announced. Team with the most kills, warrior with the most kills, and alliance
with the most kills. Prizes will be awarded to the manager of the team with the most
kills and to the manager of the warrior with the most kills. The prizes will
probably be team roll-ups. The number of roll-ups has yet to be determined. The
contest is sponsored by Jhans' newest, (but by the time the contest starts) largest
