TEAM SPOTLIGHT
THE HALL OF FAME
Quicksilver stood motionless, staring at the crates that had arrived earlier
that morning. He had planned on them arriving a week later, but apparently, the
artisans were more skilled than he gave them credit for because here they were.
Soon he would have them opened and moved to the display area for the entire
world to admire. He had originally only planned for four busts to be created, but
Ultraist had suggested that six warriors, two managers, and five teams be enshrined.
Consequently, every year from this point, four more warriors, two managers and four
teams to be added if warranted.
Quicksilver picked up the parchment that Ultraist had left for him detailing the
inductees. It was the who's who of Sunset over the years. He smiled as he read
through the list, some names instantly brought a smile across his face, some a
shudder as he remembered the fear they had struck in him during his gladiator days.
He laid the list back down on the table, slipped his shirt off and began the
long laborious task of opening each crate.
The Inaugural Inductees of the Sunset Hall of Fame:
WARRIORS:
1> EVE of ROBOTECH FORCE (mgr. Master of Anime)
Eve is arguably the greatest warrior from Sunset, probably undisputed as such in
the early days of the arena. She was the second warrior to reach the coveted
13-0 mark, which was the city's record at the time, and she represented Sunset on
the Isle of the Eye as one of our city's best. Eve Fought using the Parry Strike
Style.
2> GRUUMSH of SONS OF SATAN (mgr. Damion)
Gruumsh was the most feared warrior of his era, bar none. He graduated from
Sunset with a monstrous record of 29-4-5 (if memory serves). His list of victims
included former Duelmaster, Tally Wacker of The Light Bringers, whom Gruumsh slew
on the throne. If there is one warrior who summarizes Sunset, The Arena of
Death, it is Gruumsh. Gruumsh was a Lunger.
3> ASHITARI of RISING SUN (mgr. Master Po)
Ashitari was Sunset's first Duelmaster. Unfortunately he fell in battle a short
time after this feat. Ashitari was a Parry Strike.
4> IKANAI of RISING SUN (mgr. Master Po)
Ikanai was the first warrior to set the 13-0 mark and he was also the guy who
stopped Eve from beating that mark. Damion (the warrior) of Sons of Satan slew
Ikanai. Ikani was a Parry Strike.
5> LORD THRASH of SCARRED VISAGE (mgr. name unknown)
Lord Thrash was one of the most dominant warriors of his era. He graduated to
the Isle on turn 50, with a record of 35-15. Lord Thrash was a Striker.
6> KING CRAB of DOSADI PREP (mgr. Doctor Victor Origin)
If Sunset has a flagship warrior, King Crab is it. He has won multiple
tournament championships and other awards on the Isle of the Eye. King Crab
still fights to this day. He has passed through many manager's hands but
currently serves Spectre. King Crab is a Parry Lunge fighter.
TEAMS
1> SONS OF SATAN mgr. Damion
Without a doubt, the most feared team ever in Sunset. This team has produced
more local legends than any other and is still doing it today. Sons of Satan
started on turn 1.
2> SCARRED VISAGE mgr. Unknown
In the old days, the top team fought for free. Back then there was only one set
of rankings and every turn only one team that sat atop that list, Scarred Visage.
3> LEGENDS OF ANIME/ROBOTECH FORCE mgr. Master of Anime
Legends of Anime began on turn 1 producing local legends. This team also
dominated on the Isle of the Eye and was a force in Primus.
4> HACKERS INC., mgr. Al-Slap
If Sons of Satan was the most feared team, Hackers Inc., with their huge body
count, was a close second.
5> THE MAGNIFICENT 5/BLACKEST PRIDE mgr. Ultraist
For the first ten years of this team's existence, it floundered in mediocrity, at
one point struggling to stay above the 35% area. However, over the last ten
years Blackest Pride has been arguably the most dominant team in the arena,
consistently producing more graduates, tournament victors, and tournament
champions than any other local team.
MANAGERS
This is the heart of the Sunset Hall of Fame. The managers enshrined here are
individuals who helped shape the perception of The Arena of Death.
DAMION mgr. SONS OF SATAN
This was a no brainer. Damion manages one of the most respected teams in the
history of Sunset and is one of the primary reasons Sunset became known as the Arena
of Death! Notable warriors; Gruumsh, Damion, and numerous others.
MASTER OF ANIME mgr. LEGENDS OF ANIME/ROBOTECH FORCE and ANIME LEGENDS
The Master of Anime was one of Sunset's early tournament masters. His Legends
of Anime team disbanded around turn 40, he returned 10-15 turns later with his Anime
Legends team who dominated the arena until about twelve years ago, when the Master of
Anime retired. It should be noted that if he had stayed active, his team was on pace
to be the first team in ALL of Alastari to reach 100 kills.
**If you would like to nominate teams, warriors, or managers for induction please do
so in the newsletter before October 2006. A yet unnamed committee will decide all
future inductees.

Sunset,
Nice first turn back! I get the throne handed to me by virtue of defeating a
whelp. Chin up Scythe, you didn't look "that" bad....
I'll leave my challenges empty, so anyone who wants the throne has but to
challenge me.

SPY REPORT
Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly SUNSET games. Former top team GRIM FANDANGO was
unseated this week as EQUITES VIRTUS moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top spot
with a 2-3-0 record for the round. Fortune did not smile upon D.R.I. this time out
who this turn suffered a fall into 9th position in the wake of a 0-0-0 round.
Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the corner! Witness how this week
W.H.E.T.T. went 4-1-0 to move up 4 in the rankings. Did only my eyes note the 3-0-1
record which LAKOTA managed to post this round? I don't doubt that such a record
will draw challengers! TUSK caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as
he skillfully bested DUCKBERT and was awarded 46 points in recognition. In one of
the week's more notable duels, CALPURNIA put down SCYTHE, causing him to lose 22
points of recognition in the process. Who here was not present for the title fight
this week as STELLA ARTOIS boldly challenged ASYLUM in order to strive for the
Duelmasters honors? This time victory fell to the grasp of the usurper. All hail
STELLA ARTOIS, Duelmaster of SUNSET! Informants "close" to the city champion have
told me that he never fights without pantyhose on beneath his armor. Watch out!
Many and various are the arts of battle. In SUNSET "art" is a word that has
long since passed from the language! I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when
this week's challenge seeking began. D.R.I. is feared. This much I can say.
Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent the better part
of last week avoiding D.R.I.. Indeed it was KANO CLAN. Loose talk at the arena has
reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters are after
VERGIL. Watch your back! A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games this week,
it seems that ROMULAN posted a challenge against the more highly recognized VERGIL.
The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand ROMULAN was bested by VERGIL. Remember
warriors, this is the discipline of steel.
Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more
than its fair share of red in recent times. The warrior's path is harsh. For
mediocrity there is but one reward--death. This past week DUCKBERT, at 22-18-3,
departed SUNSET forever. BUKOWSKI must hold silent, for this week he was humbled in
the arena by a successful Bloodfeud won by WOODY HAYES of W.H.E.T.T.. Hail WOODY
HAYES for thy victory! Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms. One
thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
The girls are as pretty in SUNSET as ever I remembered them....and the fighters
as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy
company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till next we

A few notes about e-mailed personals:
You may submit personal ads, columns, spotlights, etc. electronically, either via e-
mail to ads at reality dot com (which doesn't need any more spam, thank you) or on
the web at http://www.reality.com/duel2/modules.php?name=Ads. When you submit
something, you should get back a receipt from HAL at RSI. If you do NOT get a
receipt, your ads may have gone astray (not all e-mail makes it to its destination
any more than all snail mail does). If you DO get a receipt, it should, in the body
of the message, tell you what arena your stuff was filed in. Check your receipt to
make sure your submission made it to the intended destination. Also check to see
that everything you sent made it to the same place. Sometimes HAL, who is rather
simple-minded in some ways, will send half your stuff to another arena if the name
or number of that arena shows up at the beginning of a line. So if the word Ti
appears at the beginning of a line halfway through your ads, all the ads after that
may end up in Ti, which is closed and doesn't need ads. As a side note, sometimes
things move slowly, so don't wait until the last minute to send your ads and all.
If they get held up along the way, they may not show up until next turn. Happy

To all those lookin' for some easy pickins: I, Elfwine, manager of The Shallowship,
the most feared team in all of Jhelum, invite all who seek wide open spaces for pubs
and other such establishments of limited debauchery, to visit this deserted city and
help me clear up some of the dust. I'm just about ready to have my guys face off
