Notes from the arena champ.
Graveyard Tan was a worthy opponent. Assuming, of course, that by 'worthy
opponent' I meant cowering, craven, little mole of a castrato that whelped like a
[bleep] and prayed for his pathetic, unworthy, miniscule life whenever I pulled his
strings like a Pinocchio puppet unable to tell the truth until his master forced him
to beg. But we all know that's what I meant by, 'a worthy opponent', don't we?
So here's my final go-round in the arena [15(2)-15(1)-4-13(2)-21-9(1)-15(2) Ad
Ex. Att. and Parry, Ex Init.]. Logic tells me to avoid Crouching Hamster (too quick,
too skilled) and Black Tiger (too much damage doing), but chances are they'll be
fighting each other. And what the hey, I'm already gone. So no avoids, no
challenges, roll the dice.... What do I have to lose?

SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of SUNSET! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Warriors--remember that glory waits always
around the corner! Witness how this week LIGHT BRIGADE went 4-1-0 to move up 3 in
the rankings. DOILY caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he
skillfully bested ELITE GUARD and was awarded 21 points in recognition. In one of
the week's more notable duels, DOILY put down ELITE GUARD, causing him to lose 16
points of recognition in the process. This time out CROUCHING HAMSTER made his bid
for the throne as he challenged BULGAKOV in an all out contest of skill for
possession of the title! This time victory fell to the grasp of the usurper. All
hail CROUCHING HAMSTER, Duelmaster of SUNSET! Heed this! A seer has warned that if
exactly 6 die in duels this week, the whole city shall perish! Just remember...5 or
7!
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. I saw one fighter that warriors
avoided when this week's challenge seeking began. GRIM FANDANGO is feared. This
much I can say. Apparently the stalwarts of NOMADIC TRIBE are catching the bulk of
jests down at the challenging board for their large share of the avoids. Loose talk
at the arena has reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters
are after CANNON FODDER. Watch your back! I can not but mention with disdain the
name of VULGE who this week posted a challenge to a warrior a full 12 points below in
the rankings. I thought VULGE showed great skill and promise when he was bested by
CANNON FODDER. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? Fate is a fickle mistress. She showers the miserable with fortune
but sets enemies against the victorious. Remember this!
The girls are as pretty in SUNSET as ever I remembered them....and the fighters
as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Ahh, but I can hear the spires of a far
off city calling to me. I must away! Till next we meet remember: a fool flies into

try, anyway. I was looking for the knockdown on one of those early crits, after
which I would have hopefully pinned you to the arena floor like an eighth grade
entomology exhibit. But, you used that shield of yours to--oh wait, I thought you
said shield wielders were scum?? So that would make you...scum or hypocrite, you
pick. At least you wrote a column, although I thought the "chicken-hawk convention"
reference was a bit of a reach. I suspect you'll be out for real blood this turn
with your faves, so the Old Man's got me sitting this one out in true Delarq fashion.

Sherman -- The whine fest continues on unabated. You still haven't figured out that
you're running in a Delarquan arena, have you? You and Kano Clan oughta put aside
your petty differences and go cry to the Commission together about all the horrible,
terrible injustices that have been done to you here. I know all the other managers
would shed a tear for you, too, if they could stop laughing long enough. Again, you
choose to run a 'God-awful' warrior, that's your choice. My choice is to challenge
it if it's in range and looks like a good matchup, and especially if it's a revenge
challenge. You picked on Vulge the turn before because you knew Sherwood could take
him. No problem, I responded in kind with the only warrior available to me. Point
ranking differentials are a pathetic excuse with two veteran warriors involved. And
any manager who seems to keep making such references as you do obviously has some

Bulgakov -- First, congrats on your invite, that is always an accomplishment.
However, why do you keep ranting about scum? Do you simply like to rant and need a
topic? Only 6 of 52 warriors that fought last turn were TPs, and not all of those
are of the two-shield wielding variety. At least as long as the veterans from the
far-east continue to sit out, you seem to be grossly overstating the situation.
Perhaps you will find the competition on the Isle more to your liking. -- Nomad and

D.R.I. (What does that stand for anyway?) -- Well, I guess Tan was wrong, I wasn't
declawed. How is it that a team can go without killing anyone until they get into
champs and then promptly kill twice? I was always under the impression that it was
harder to kill at that point. Well, Genghis Tron's death was not intentional, but
such things can happen when you choose the life of a gladiator. I'm guessing that
there will not be a bloodfeud, bit I accept it if it is offered. -- Black Tiger
