                             Notes from the arena champ.

Ahhh, retirement comes at last.... Hail, warriors of Solven, it is I, Skeemer.
Seems like just yesterday that Kellumbo was telling me not to get too big of a head
after winning my first fight by jumping a lunger and one shotting him to the head.
Now, look at me; I'm off to that big arena called retirement. Heck, I might even
decide to camp up with Turkey Joe and Blind Girl and tell stories about the good old
days.
It is unfortunate, but it would appear that Rumsfeld is the likely suspect to
hold the throne next turn. With a Bloodfued challenge against a warrior he just
beat, I figure it will be hard pressed to pick anyone else to have more points. Our
only hope of keeping one of Judge's boys off of the throne is to not win this turn.
I suppose it is possible to be matched up with Kate or Nancy again, and to lose, but
I have already beaten them both. I am trying out my faves this turn, so I guess
we'll see. If Rumsfeld is Duelmaster.....well....I just shudder at what he will have
to say. Judge's team must have plenty of pent up frustration after a year and a half
without holding the throne...
Well, enough is enough. I've gotta get outta here to make room for the new
recruit. Captain Chaos joins the team next week. All you Chaos guys be sure to send
a warm welcome his way. I know he could use an easy win right out of the gates.
Take care everyone. Best wishes...

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly SOLVEN games. There were bitter words at CONSPIRACY
INC.'s guildhouse after a 1-3-0 showing this week which dropped the stable into 13th.
Dark Arena anyone? Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the corner!
Witness how this week WHITE WOLF went 4-1-0 to move up 5 in the rankings. SHALL BE
caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as she skillfully bested SHADE
and was awarded 35 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels,
SAVAGE DRAGON put down CHUNG' FOW, causing him to lose 11 points of recognition in
the process. Unwilling to wait upon the will of others, Duelmaster SKEEMER
challenged RUMSFELD last week in a match to decide the fate of the throne. Not for
nothing has SKEEMER in the past laid claim to the Duelmaster's throne, and this week
he's proven his combat skill yet again. No confirmation, but my sources claim that
the top team has gained their position using magical aids. Charmed weapons perhaps?
Many and various are the arts of battle. In SOLVEN "art" is a word that has
long since passed from the language! I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when
this week's challenge seeking began. THE DEMOCRATS is feared. This much I can say.
Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent the better part
of last week avoiding THE DEMOCRATS. Indeed it was THE POISON CLAN. Loose talk at
the arena has reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters
are after KANGAROO KATE. Watch your back! THE LIZARD must really be harboring a
grudge against the WHITE WOLF guild! Merciless, 19 challenged down BRUJAH points
this week to duel with he. An upset indeed! THE LIZARD found heself outmatched as
him was beat by BRUJAH. There is no place left further down for THE LIZARD but the
burial mound! A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games this week, it seems
that NANCY PELOSI posted a challenge against the more highly recognized TURKEY JOE.
The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand NANCY PELOSI bested TURKEY JOE. Remember
warriors, this is the discipline of steel.
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? Fate is a fickle mistress. She showers the miserable with fortune
but sets enemies against the victorious. Remember this!
The girls are as pretty in SOLVEN as ever I remembered them....and the fighters
as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy
company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till we meet
again, remember: a turtle walks slow, hides head in a shell, and harms no one; a
lion runs to slay its prey.-- Zontani Sharp Eyes

Silver Stroke -- My apologies for the non-presence of your spot yet again.
Various events, many of them highly improbable but others all too predicatble,
have influenced this situation. We WILL get that spotlight proofed, but not
this time. Again. -- Temp Ed.
P.S. Would you believe, "Pursued by a malign fate"?

Sliver Stroker -- Wow, first you join Chaos, then you start down challenging to get a
win. Not that I can blame you. The sub-standard talent of a nitwit like yourself
probably forces you to DC just to get a win every once in a while, but it was my
understanding that the Chaos boys disapproved of DCing. I saw them giving Killumbo a
hard time in the forums for doing it. But I guess that is the only way a lowlife,
panty wearing, Miss Nancy like yourself can get a win. Now run back and hide behind
your new friends before I kick you so hard you'll be wearing your butt for a hat. --
Master Tazo, Mgr The Poison Clan

Sliver Stroker -- I guess you must have been pretty scared of The Toad to interpret,
"The Toad parrys with his medium shield", as a death intent statement. -- Master Tazo

Skull Stroker -- Learn to avoid this team. Haha! -- C. Canary

Squal -- Thanks for the skills. -- C. Canary

Nancy Pelosi -- I suppose for someone with a third less fights than me, that is was a
good effort. Good luck in your next shot at the title. -- Skeemer

Turkey Joe -- Congrats on your retirement! You have been a source of great enjoyment
for us since we have been in the arena. Enjoy the sunshine and beaches as you can
finally kick back, relax, and not worry about any more cheap challenges. Thanks

White Wolf -- Welcome to Solven. Don't mind that group of warriors coming your way.
They are just here to "welcome" you. Enjoy your stay. May many more 1-4 turns come

"Pssssstt!"
"What? Who???? Hey, I thought you were dead!?"
"Nope, I was just pretending. I got tired of fighting for that terrible manager, and
decided I wanted to win for a change. So I faked my death and am here to fight for
Kellumbo's Kids!"
"Well, if that's the case, welcome to the team Schwarzenegger. I'm sure you'll enjoy
winning for the Kids much more fun than losing on that other team."

Silver Stroker -- If you insist on being obsessed with Woelfe's bum, could you kindly
keep it to yourself. -- Detective Kellumbo

brother. -- The lizard

Josiah -- I can't believe I fell for the old, "look out behind you!" trick. -- The
Lotus

Detective Klinger -- I noticed you were a little apprehensive about bringing your new
roll-ups in hmmmm.... I wonder why? All that talk and you covenitally forget to fill
out his strategy sheet lol likely story I say, "put your money where you mouth is!".
-- Silver stroke

Rufus -- I must have hit you too hard lol your reffering to yourself in the third
person another crack in the head with my longsword will clear that right up heheh. --
Savage Dragon

and the arena is NOT the batting cage. Nor is Rufus' head a baseball. Please be
sure to bring the right equipment to the right sport in the future... -- Rufus

isle. -- Al Gore

Gangrel -- Thanks for the easy win. -- Al Gore

Three Strikes -- Not a good day to start a career. A random matchup that gets me
some excellent bloodfueding. -- Al Gore

To the new teams -- Welcome to Solven. -- Al Gore

Turkey Joe -- Congrats on graduating. It's a sad day for me. At least Kate is still
here. -- Al Gore

                                     DEATH FEST

The ferocious ghosts of former glories whispered across the wind swept sands of
DM 59; agonizing incessantly due to the diminutive demise of the Delarq arena known
as Illis.
Tattered banners and forgotten memories wailed in the wind for a dynamic death
march to dawn once more upon the blood stained sands of the Delarq slow arena.
The distant call crying for a declaration of restoration amidst the ruin of the
all but forgotten Delarq arena carried to the far corners of Alastari; drawing the
Devious, the Diabolical, the Dangerous and the Down Challenging to cross blades and
wage warfare among an assemblage of new stables managed by the Known and Unknown;
willing to spill fresh blood, while carving their destiny during 15 Rounds of contest
driven combat to be known as the "Illis Incredibly Diabolical Delarq Death Fest".
A lone cloaked figure huddled by lamplight in a remote outpost near the
crossroads of ElseWhere and ElseWhen; feverishly formulating the foundational
framework for the dawning of the Delarq Death Fest in DM 59, complete with
Gladiatorial Commission sanctioned prizes to promote the growing thirst for a Delarq
Slow Arena Death Festival.

Delarq Death Fest Opening Round debuts the first turn immediately following the
Summer 2004 F2F Tourney and continues through the completion of 15 consecutive
rounds.
Death Fest points are Won or Lost ONLY in the DM 59 Delarq Slow Arena [Tourneys
DO NOT Add or Subtract from the Death Fest Point Scoring System]:

Death Fest Scoring Format:
Win =3D +2 pts
Loss =3D -1 pt
Kill =3D +5 pts [in addition to +2 pts for Win]
Death =3D -3 pts [in addition to 1 pt for Loss]
Dark Arena Kill =3D +10 pts [in addition to +2 pts for Win]
Dark Arena Death =3D -5 pts [in addition to 1 pt for Loss]
Revenged Blood Feud =3D +5 pts [successful Revenged Blood Feud provides Death Fest
contestants the opportunity to cancel out 3 pts for Death and 1 pt for Loss; while
gaining +1 pt overall for the Revenged Blood Feud in addition to the +2 pts for Win]

DEATH FEST PRIZES will be awarded to the Top Ten Death Fest Stables on the basis
of Total Points*** accumulated during the 15 rounds of competition as follows:

1. Favorite Weapon Knowledge for 1 (one) warrior ranked Initiate or higher on the
Final Round to be revealed by RSI to each of the Top Ten Death Fest Stables
2. Renaming of Dark Arena Monsters and NPCs [yet to be determined according to how
many DA Monsters and NPCs are available in DM 59 for Renaming]
3. The Top Five Death Fest Stables will receive New Team Rollup Certificates as
follows: 1st (10), 2nd (8), 3rd (6), 4th (4) and 5th (2)
4. Renaming Illis Arena for 6 months plus Receiving 6 months Free Play courtesy of
RSI will be awarded to the manager of the 1st Place Death Fest Stable
5. Discussions are underway regarding a possible Special Award granted to the Illis
Iron Stable qualifiers who compete in 67 of a possible 75 fights during the course of
the 15 consecutive rounds of the Death Fest [Key Factor is How Many (?) stables will
be competing in the Death Fest without drawing away participation by current managers
in the remaining slow arenas!] Therefore, it is important for all managers entering
stables in DM 59 for the upcoming Death Fest to contact RSI as soon as possible
regarding their participation in this contest so that a Final Ruling on the proposed
Illis Iron Stable Award can be issued by RSI.

***TieBreaker is determined on the Final Round by the DM 59 Newsletter Recognition
Rankings. The stable with the Highest Ranked Active Gladiator is granted the
decision. [Example: Warrior A and Warrior B are both listed in the Recognition
Rankings with 87 pts; however, because Warrior A is listed in the Recognition
Rankings ahead of Warrior B, then Warrior A is granted the TieBreaker Decision for
His/Her stable!]

Opening Round Team Spotlight Bonus [minimum 15 paragraphs!] Each Delarq Death
Fest competitor who writes a Team Spotlight featuring their Stable (Name) and
Managerial Alias [Gladiatorial Names Optional] in regards to competing in the Delarq
Death Fest will receive 25 pts added to His/Her opening round score.
Illis Iron Stable Bonus [in addition to the proposed award awaiting RSI
approval!] Any manager whose stable competes in at least 67 of the possible 75
fights during the 15 rounds of Death Fest receives 25 points added to His/Her final
overall score [this allows each stable the cushion of missing one round of
competition; plus up to 3 additional fights due to waiting for replacement rollups
from Deaths suffered either in Tourneys or during the Death Fest contest in DM 59
over the course of 15 rounds of competition!]
