The pounding in my head thundered like a horse and carriage. The last thing I could remember was a nightmare of the spawn of evil itself taking me on joy ride; not a pleasant thought. Indeed, I was wondering if I had dreamed the whole thing. I didn't think flying above a city was possible. Never in my days had I experienced such perversion of nature. Whatever that thing was, I hoped I didn't run into again, even in a dream. My eyes started adjusting to the dim moonlight in the room. I was beginning to see the outlines of objects that I hoped were furniture. There didn't seem to be much in the room other than the bed and a chest. The person who owned this place must be cheap, considering the quality and lack of furniture in the place. A single drop of water fell on my head from above. It stung in my eyes a bit as I struggled up from the bed. I paused at the edge of the bed to clear my thoughts somewhat. I felt like I had been out for a week or longer. The stiffness of my limbs and cracking of my joints was testimony to this. I felt around my waist and noticed my sword belt was missing. Someone had taken my weapons--for what purpose I was unsure but I wasn't sticking around to find out. Since I had come to this strange land, I had encountered nothing but trouble. While protecting my Lord Hermishino, who I had served for 15 years of my life, I had saved him from multiple attackers from England in an ambush, but I had faltered in saving his son in the fray. For my incompetence, my entire family had been made to suffer immensely as I made to watch. After this I was jailed and left to rot. When Lord Hermishino thought he would taunt me outside the bars of my cage, he made the mistake of getting too close. I struck, reaching through the bars and grasping his neck, which I twisted hard until I heard an audible pop. His body made a loud thump as it hit the floor. I could hear arrows whistling towards me from the guards as I made my peace with god and prepared to willingly embrace death. It seemed as though fate had a different course for me to take on this day and I was blinded by a piercing light and felt my body come displaced. I woke hours later in this strange land. I had seen a lot of strange things I didn't think were possible and the only constant was that they kept getting stranger. It took me a few days to cross the desert to a town called Solven. For some odd reason, I know not why, I could understand this strange new speech. When I came to Solven, I was turned over as a slave since I had no origin that could be determined by the militia. Ironic I guess, since in my old life I was slave. In a sense, I guess mistress fate has humor after all. If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. It seemed I could lead a life of servitude or fight in these arena games. Well, since the whole apron thing and cleaning someone's toilet and being referred to as Mr. Clean wasn't my thing, I looked to get sponsored in the games without much luck. Most people frowned on setting slaves as gladiators, as they were thought of as lacking the skill and will to fight. My last two options were this Woelfe character or Silver Stroke. I had a week left to get someone to sponsor me or my name was going to be Mr. Clean. Which brought to my present state. I felt a painful stabbing in my stomach, which derived from not eating in days. It took some effort to get my legs underneath me as I headed to the oak door. I grabbed the knob gently and slowly opened it, careful not too make any noise. I edged the door open enough to peek out. I must have been on the second story as I could see steps heading down with a faint candle glow coming from around the corner. Voices could be discerned and the smells of chicken, fresh baked bread, and another aromas hung in the air. I went outside and slowly headed down the stairs, turning my feet swiftly to avoid creaking on the steps. It sounded like three voices coming from the room. I crouched down on the stairwell. There were three people around the table eating and discussing something. One was a lady with flaming red hair and brown eyes that seemed to have a fiery glaze to them. Her skin had greenish scaly look. She had a remarkable beauty about her, despite her strange appearance. She wore a black cloak and it was hard to discern anything else about her, although her back seemed disproportionally large even with the cloak. Perhaps it was hiding something--maybe a weapon? One man was a towering giant who wore a tunic that looked three times too small for him. Dark hair and sharp features--he had seen their kind before. The man was Mongol and by his girth probably a clan leader of some sort, as size was everything to these brutal tribes. He had muscles on him a lion would proud of. He had a bristling beard. His plate was heaping over with food as he dug savagely at its contents. Then there was what looked to be a priest of some sort at the other end. He was in brown robes and was of average size and build. There was nothing really noticable about him other than that he lacked hair. He picked cautiously at his food. Then I saw a fourth man in the corner on the far side who was as big as the Mongol. He stood perfectly motionless, staring out the window but never moving. I couldn't even see his chest moving. It was as though he was not breathing, or if he was, it was very slightly. He wore the strangest clothes of all. They were black shiny clothes of a design I had never seen before. He had some sort of black things covering his eyes; I couldn't even imagine how he could see. They were discussing something. I would have to get closer to discover what. As he slammed his fist on the table, it splintered slightly, jarring everyone's food. "I say no on this new recruit. Slaves were not meant to fight! That is why they are slaves." thundered the barbarian. The lady spoke sarcastically, "Once again, Atilla, you've shown why men shouldn't wear tight tunics; they restrict the oxygen flow to the brain!" Atilla looked dumbfounded. "Uh...what did you mean by that." The priest piped in, "I hate to say it, but the big dolt may have a point. Slaves usually aren't too tenacious as fighters. We will be the laughing stock of all the schools. No one has accepted slaves as gladiators in decades around this city because of the poor showing of skill on their part." Atilla spoke gruffly, "Well, he can't do much worse than you. If you keep losing, Silver is bound to send you to the special fights at night I've been hearing about." As he said this, he gave the priest a hefty slap on the back that knocked him out of his chair. The priest fumbled back into his chair meekly, trying to make it look dignified. The red head poured the priest some more red wine. "Look at it this way, Alien. You don't have to worry about fetching a priest if that happens," the red haired lady giggled. "That is easy for you to say, Savage Dragon. Silver likes you. He seems to have a place in his heart for cruel things such as yourself. I don't see how I fit in." Atilla spoke heartily, "Hahhah, Silver, a heart, I know you've gone mad now. Give me some that wine, wench." Savage Dragon's eyes flamed and as she opened her mouth an intense flame leaped out. The flame went past Atilla's face and caused him to fall back in his chair. His eyes bulged and his arms flung wide. "You think you would have learned by now not to tick the firecracker off, you big muscle head." Alien laughed. "Why did you do that, you fiery mouthed demon." He pulled himself upright and was smacking the fire out of his stubble. "Shut up, you dolt, before I singe the hair off your head!" Savage spoke sharply. This seems to shut the big man up as his eyes bulged and he rubbed his head, making sure it was still there. "Besides, if Silver Stroke wants this Samuria Sam to fight with us, who are we to say otherwise. After all, I'm not going to tell Silver I don't wish to follow his orders, are you?" Atilla and cringed visibly at that thought. They both nodded in approval. Just then a short, lithe man stepped from the shadows. He had dark hair and striking features and his hair was tied ceremoniously in a knot, "So this Silver Stroke isn't a dream." They all stirred and looked a little shocked except for the one called Savage Dragon. She replied in calm voice, "Ah...you're up. You rested well, I take it? Come sit down and eat." The little man didn't ask twice as he sat down and ate ravenously, scarcely taking time to breathe. The room was quiet for the next several minutes. Savage Dragon produced a document and rolled it down to Sam's position, "You'll need this to fight in the games. Silver bought your freedom. You're a free man now." Sam didn't even acknowledge the paper. "So what do I have to do for this? I don't work for demons. Your master is not of this place or any other I have seen. He has strange powers that stink of evil to me." Savage chimed in, "Power doesn't make one evil. How it is used makes one evil." "Then why did your master bring me here in such a condition?" piped Sam. "Would you have come willingly upon meeting him?" He sat motionless for a few seconds then spoke, "He still looks like a demon to me!" The Alien said, "My dad used to say never judge a book by its cover." "Aye, there is truth in that." Sam replied. "So what are his intentions?" Savage Dragon spoke. "Simply that you fight for him in return for your freedom. Silver knows you are a man of action and this is what your life should be. You will be paid a fair wage as well." "Well, I seem to have little bargaining power at the moment. I will accept these terms." Sam replied. Atilla laughed, "This puny man, how is he going to help. Will he carry loin cloths to the arena?" "No, I'm here to help your mother get to 5th Street with Kellumbo. You know, that guy who wears a dress and thinks he is a woman. Maybe he is your mother and your father, barbarian oaf!" Atilla growled, "Let's see if you can fight, little one, because I'm going to rip you in half!" Sam replied, "Come on, you're only going to see this once, so pay attention." Atilla charged forward, arms outstretched, shouting a war cry. He headed towards Sam, engulfing him like a mountain of stone. Then with a swift kick to the knee the barbarian dropped. A lighting fist to the throat and the barbarian hit the floor, making choking noises while clutching his throat. Sam sat back at the table, wiping his mouth and his hands with little concern for the Atilla. The barbarian managed to crawl back to his seat from the floor. Just then the sun rose. Savage dragon said, "Well, it looks like it is time for the games. We should be heading out soon." Sam put the document in his belt, stood up, and bowed to everyone. "I have to pick up some of my belongs from the tavern. I'll meet you guys at the arena." Savage dragon said, "Here, take these." She tossed him his sword belt with his katana on it. He grasped them gently and he put them on in one swift movement as he headed for the door. The priest said, "Go with god, son." Sam looked at his katana as it flashed then said, "I think god is going sit this one out." He sheathed his blade and headed out. The alien looked at Atilla who was now sitting upright, gently massaging his throat and said, "It is good day; no one died." * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * ---===ANDORIAN REGIONAL NEWS===--- Duelmasters ----------- DM 8 ARKERS (turn 244): MISS STEP of LADIES IN WAITING (Crip, mgr.) Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes, Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Fortune did not smile upon JUST CHILLIN this time out who this turn suffered a fall into 9th position in the wake of a 1-4-0 round. Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the corner! Witness how this week THE ZOO went 3-2-0 to move up 5 in the rankings. Did only my eyes note the 4-1-0 record which THE REPUBLICANS managed to post this round? I don't doubt that such a record will draw challengers! MS. MADNESS caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as she skillfully bested NEXT TIME and was awarded 29 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, TERMINATOR put down NANCY PELOSI, causing her to lose 21 points of recognition in the process. This time out RUMSFELD made his bid for the throne as he Bloodfeuded GEORGE BUSH in an all out contest of skill for possession of the title! This time victory fell to the grasp of the usurper. All hail RUMSFELD, Duelmaster of SOLVEN! No confirmation, but my sources claim that the top team has gained their position using magical aids. Charmed weapons perhaps? I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. SOLVEN, city of gladiators! Mighty among the names of thy guilds is KELLUMBO'S KIDS, a guild shunned and avoided by many in the weekly duels. Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent the better part of last week avoiding KELLUMBO'S KIDS. Indeed it was CONSPIRACY INC.. Mighty fighters cannot but expect competition from those below. THE LIZARD take warning! You have more than a few enemies in SOLVEN. I cannot but express pride for the fearlessness of DARRELL ISSA who cast caution to the winds and challenged KANGAROO KATE, a fighter 32 points higher. Truth to tell, DARRELL ISSA did not come out of the fight a winner, but he managed to capture much attention, gaining 3 in recognition. A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games this week, it seems that CHUNG' FOW posted a challenge against the more highly recognized MAYBE LATER. The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand CHUNG' FOW beat MAYBE LATER. Remember warriors, this is the discipline of steel. Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more than its fair share of red in recent times. Look no more for CHENEY in the arena or on the streets of SOLVEN. His fate was sealed in the Dark Arena. Inevitable for one at 6-6-0. IRON MONKEY must hold silent, for this week she was humbled in the arena by a successful Bloodfeud won by RUFUS of BIBLE BELTERS. Hail RUFUS for thy victory! Walk proud, warriors of THE REPUBLICANS! By striking down CHARLES RANGEL you have avenged the honor of your dead. Your virtue is known to all in SOLVEN. Fate is a fickle mistress. She showers the miserable with fortune but sets enemies against the victorious. Remember this! A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise manager learn the secrets of them all? Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till next we meet remember - the pen is mightier than the sword, but a maul is a different story!-- Zontani Sharp Eyes DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME RUMSFELD 6032 14 15 0 116 THE REPUBLICANS (103) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME ILSA SHE-WOLF 6107 13 4 1 100 KELLUMBO'S KIDS (676) TERMINATOR 6158 7 5 0 100 SAVAGE HEARTS 2 (697) FLAT TAX 5998 16 19 0 99 THE REPUBLICANS (103) KANGAROO KATE 5900 19 35 1 93 THE ZOO (205) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME GEORGE BUSH 1708 18 10 1 90 CONSPIRACY INC. And any other derogative for you that I can't think of right now. -- Al Gore Skeemer -- Thanks for the skills. A few more and I could take you. Good luck on the isle. -- Al Gore Gangrel -- Thanks for the easy win. -- Al Gore Three Strikes -- Not a good day to start a career. A random matchup that get me some excellent bloodfeuding. -- Al Gore To the new teams -- Welcome to Solven. -- Al Gore Turkey Joe -- Congrats on graduating. It's a sad day for me. At least Kate is still here. -- Al Gore The Democrats -- Make no mistake, you and Charles Rangel will pay for killing our stablemate. -- The Republicans Conspiracy, Inc. -- That goes for you too. -- The Republicans Master Tazo -- I see you gave Silver a lot of grief for making a DC, meanwhile you're over here making a down challenge yourself, oh and thanks for the win, made me all warm and fuzzy going 4-1, the 1 being a DA fight. -- Assamithius Al Gore or Al Franken -- You got the first one, but I'm going to have to wait for you to become a little better before I fight you again, 7 points?, that's an 11 point DC and I'm saving those for ol Kellumbo, "oh there's just one more thing...." The Lizard -- Hey just think, it's only a 6 point DC now. -- Brujah 2nd -- Is it the right to bear arms, or arm bears? If it's the latter, the former had better be allowed too! -- Ed., who doesn't believe bear bells do any good at all Mr. Taco -- I hardly call a 6 point rec. difference a grievous downchallenge. When we were right next to each other in the newsletter, and your fighter had more FE than mine (i.e. 5+5= 10, 8+3= 11, I know you're not bright enough to do the math yourself. :) Then in same breath, you were whining that you posted a challenge 19+ points below with your fighter that had at least 15+ fe against a fighter with 1 fight exp. to his name. I want whatever you are smoking because it is some good stuff! If you're going to talk the talk then walk the walk. Hell, you even misspelled your idol's name (Detective Klinger). Seems like you're the nit-wit to me and that is putting it politely. Let me ask you this hypothetical question, if Detective Klinger asks you to jump off a bridge, would you do it? You must have a thing for guys in dresses or something. I dislike people who can't think for themselves and get lead around like sheep. Mr. Taco -- I would also like to point something out to you, since I know you have a hard time trying to get someone to read the fights for you since you obviously lack the ability to read. In minute 4 of the Toad vs. Savage Dragon fight, I quote, "The Toad is eagerly seeking the death blow!" Hmmm...that sure sounds like a death intent statement to me.... But of course you class this as a critical parry, lol. You have no honor and lack the ability to tell the truth, which is why you are Detective Klinger's lackey. Lol! Next thing you know, you'll be wearing a dress too and using your gargantuan vocabulary to insult everyone with the same phrase "you moron". Oh...how original. -- Silver Stroke P.S. You will be given no quarter. Detective Klinger -- See above. -- Silver Stroke Detective Klinger -- Don't get your jock strap in a wad. (Yes, I meant jock strap, lol.) I'm not trying to take your man. I assure you the relationship between me and Woelfe is purely platonic. So don't get the village people after me on 5th Street where you hang out, lol. -- Silver Stroke P.S. If it talks like a duck and walks like a duck it must be a duck! Klinger, come clean; your soul demands it. But wear the dress if you like it. :) White Wolf -- Welcome friend. No one I would rather fight beside. -- Silver Stroke K-Force -- Greetings as well. -- Silver Easy Breeze -- Yes it was easy, too easy, in fact. Vote for me. -- Terminator 2nd -- Unlucky match for you, my friend. Hang in there. -- Savage Dragon Woelfe -- See, no one wants to hear your incoherent childish babbling, not even the spymasters. :) -- Silver Stroke Lai' -- That is for challenging me, so much take heed, I'm your superior. Remember it. Fear me. -- Samuria Sam So, where the heck is Samuria? -- Ed., who keeps wanting to change that to Samurai Chinese Conn. -- Justice will come swiftly for you, my cousins. Be prepared! (sharpening sword) -- Samuria Sam Phoenix -- Caught me on my offensive strategy. Let's see what happens when I change it. Muhamuha.... -- Atilla All -- I love this arena. This is my home away from home now. And I know you all love me so much. I see the tears lumping up in your throats. -- Silver Stroke Spymaster -- Get my spotlight in there. I didn't get arthritis for nothin.... :) This story sucked a little at the end, but hey, that is what you get when you write them on the fly at 4 o'clock in the morning. Must have been a bear to edit. My condolences. :) -- Silver Stroke (the smart arse) Four in the morning, eh? That explains a lot. Actually, the problem has been that I've been out of town the last couple of turns and Temp. Ed. didn't have time to do your spot. I'm working on it as soon as I finish these personals. Hopefully you'll see it in this turn. *crossed fingers* -- Ed. Rumsfeld -- Thanks for the parting gift. It was a joy each and every time I whupped your butt. -- Skeemer George Bush -- Foul, I cry! Let's try that one more time, on my terms, and see how it goes. -- Ilsa She Wolf 2nd Amendment -- Looks like your manager needs to amend you...if you know what I mean. -- Snake Charmer Jer Ber -- You won't be so lucky next time. -- Schwarzenegger Silver Stroker -- I've run all five guys for quite a while in this arena. What in the world are you talking about? You can't be *that* stupid, can you? -- DK Chaos -- Hmmmm...this must be the calm before the storm, eh? -- DK Shall Be -- Yup, shall be challenged. -- Detective Kellumbo Mr. Freeze -- Don't worry, bub. I am sure no one saw your guy lose to the NPC. Now you are in fine company with Judge...oh, I'm sorry, did you just puke? -- DK Kellumbo -- Actually, "Schwarzenegger" had a winning record when fighting for us. Not bad for the weakest fighting style in Basic DM. Your "Schwarzenegger" has a losing record. -- Judge Schwarzenegger Reborn -- Apparently I knocked the accent out of you with my longsword. -- GB Master Wong -- Live and die by the sword I always say. Jehoram learned the hard way.... Let's hope your pet monkey doesn't have to as well. <grin> -- Woelfe Master Tazo -- Hmmmm, how do you manage the hypocrisy? Not that I really need to take Silver's side ('cause let's be honest--that's a BIG side to take), but you can hardly call his challenge a down challenge when compared to the Lizard's recent beating.... How many points was that by again? <chuckles> -- Woelfe Master Wong -- Oh, yeah...thanks for the new roll-up. This should be entertaining... -- Woelfe All -- Could we leave my bum out of it? Pleeeease? <laughing> -- Woelfe Iron Monkey -- I hope you're ready to RUMBLE!! -- Gideon Kalamazoo -- Excellent fight! Well, for you at least. Well met. -- Gideon Anthony Scalia -- To be quite honest, I don't know what all the fuss was with you in this stable. Lots of murmerings about not challenging you, avoiding you...you being too lucky to lose. I guess that ends the streak. Hummph. -- Josiah All -- That's it...one more person whacks me in the 'ed and Rufus is going postal! -- Rufus Nancy Pelosi -- Hmm, without my glasses, I read your name as "Saucy." Is that a hint? -- Turkey Joe Flat Tax -- Flat or contoured, taxes always seem to win. I hate that. -- Kangaroo Kate Gangrel -- It's all well and good for the CROWD to be derisive, THEY aren't down here trying to survive with a pincushion in place of a kidney. -- Zooie Gideon -- I knew I had an edge, because you're so forgetful. Leaving your bible in motel rooms and all. -- Kalamazoo Gil Stayne -- X marks the spot. -- Arishtarte Detective Kellumbo -- (bows) -- Turkey Joe Cheney -- You're old and weak. The Dark Arena awaits you. -- Al Gore Turkey Joe -- Goodbye and thanks for the win and skills. -- Al Gore Is there a single man in this arena that doesn't hit women! -- C.M.B. Ann Coulter -- So nice to see you lose. A little payback for that past downchallenge. -- Al Gore Lubia 'Mei' -- I hate SCUM. And you are scum in more ways than one. -- Al Gore 6 May 2004 DEATH FEST The ferocious ghosts of former glories whispered across the wind swept sands of DM 59; agonizing incessantly due to the diminutive demise of the Delarq arena known as Illis. Tattered banners and forgotten memories wailed in the wind for a dynamic death march to dawn once more upon the blood stained sands of the Delarq slow arena. The distant call crying for a declaration of restoration amidst the ruin of the all but forgotten Delarq arena carried to the far corners of Alastari; drawing the Devious, the Diabolical, the Dangerous and the Down Challenging to cross blades and wage warfare among an assemblage of new stables managed by the Known and Unknown; willing to spill fresh blood, while carving their destiny during 15 Rounds of contest driven combat to be known as the "Illis Incredibly Diabolical Delarq Death Fest". A lone cloaked figure huddled by lamplight in a remote outpost near the crossroads of ElseWhere and ElseWhen; feverishly formulating the foundational framework for the dawning of the Delarq Death Fest in DM 59, complete with Gladiatorial Commission sanctioned prizes to promote the growing thirst for a Delarq Slow Arena Death Festival. Delarq Death Fest Opening Round debuts the first turn immediately following the Summer 2004 F2F Tourney and continues through the completion of 15 consecutive rounds. Death Fest points are Won or Lost ONLY in the DM 59 Delarq Slow Arena [Tourneys DO NOT Add or Subtract from the Death Fest Point Scoring System]: Death Fest Scoring Format: Win =3D +2 pts Loss =3D -1 pt Kill =3D +5 pts [in addition to +2 pts for Win] Death =3D -3 pts [in addition to 1 pt for Loss] Dark Arena Kill =3D +10 pts [in addition to +2 pts for Win] Dark Arena Death =3D -5 pts [in addition to 1 pt for Loss] Revenged Blood Feud =3D +5 pts [successful Revenged Blood Feud provides Death Fest contestants the opportunity to cancel out 3 pts for Death and 1 pt for Loss; while gaining +1 pt overall for the Revenged Blood Feud in addition to the +2 pts for Win] DEATH FEST PRIZES will be awarded to the Top Ten Death Fest Stables on the basis of Total Points*** accumulated during the 15 rounds of competition as follows: 1. Favorite Weapon Knowledge for 1 (one) warrior ranked Initiate or higher on the Final Round to be revealed by RSI to each of the Top Ten Death Fest Stables 2. Renaming of Dark Arena Monsters and NPCs [yet to be determined according to how many DA Monsters and NPCs are available in DM 59 for Renaming] 3. The Top Five Death Fest Stables will receive New Team Rollup Certificates as follows: 1st (10), 2nd (8), 3rd (6), 4th (4) and 5th (2) 4. Renaming Illis Arena for 6 months plus Receiving 6 months Free Play courtesy of RSI will be awarded to the manager of the 1st Place Death Fest Stable 5. Discussions are underway regarding a possible Special Award granted to the Illis Iron Stable qualifiers who compete in 67 of a possible 75 fights during the course of the 15 consecutive rounds of the Death Fest [Key Factor is How Many (?) stables will be competing in the Death Fest without drawing away participation by current managers in the remaining slow arenas!] Therefore, it is important for all managers entering stables in DM 59 for the upcoming Death Fest to contact RSI as soon as possible regarding their participation in this contest so that a Final Ruling on the proposed Illis Iron Stable Award can be issued by RSI. ***TieBreaker is determined on the Final Round by the DM 59 Newsletter Recognition Rankings. The stable with the Highest Ranked Active Gladiator is granted the decision. [Example: Warrior A and Warrior B are both listed in the Recognition Rankings with 87 pts; however, because Warrior A is listed in the Recognition Rankings ahead of Warrior B, then Warrior A is granted the TieBreaker Decision for His/Her stable!] Opening Round Team Spotlight Bonus [minimum 15 paragraphs!] Each Delarq Death Fest competitor who writes a Team Spotlight featuring their Stable (Name) and Managerial Alias [Gladiatorial Names Optional] in regards to competing in the Delarq Death Fest will receive 25 pts added to His/Her opening round score. Illis Iron Stable Bonus [in addition to the proposed award awaiting RSI approval!] Any manager whose stable competes in at least 67 of the possible 75 fights during the 15 rounds of Death Fest receives 25 points added to His/Her final overall score [this allows each stable the cushion of missing one round of competition; plus up to 3 additional fights due to waiting for replacement rollups from Deaths suffered either in Tourneys or during the Death Fest contest in DM 59 over the course of 15 rounds of competition!] Delarq Death Fest Hosted by Hammer [Who Else?] 25 May 2004 TEN TURNS OF HELL: The KLK Capture The Flag Competition In the spirit of the ongoing effort to make arena play what it used to be (FUN!!), I am proud to announce the KLK Capture The Flag Competition. The competition will be held in Jhans (DM-36, which has, by the way, grown in size equal to Talcama already). :) We are announcing this contest early to allow managers time to prep. Rules: -- On turn 462 (due 8/4/04) the lowest ranked warrior on your team is given your team's 'flag' (he is your initial flag defender). -- Starting on turn 463 (due 8/18/04) flags will be defended every turn and turn 463 is the turn scoring will begin. -- Fights involving flags are winners-take-all and a warrior can carry as many flags as he can win. -- If a warrior holding a flag either A) goes inactive, B) loses to a stand-by warrior or C) gets DA'd, he forfeits all flags he has and they are returned the their original team's lowest ranked warrior. -- If you hold your own flag on an inactive warrior you receive NO POINTS that turn. -- If a warrior graduates to AD holding flags starting on the next turn those flags will be defended by the lowest ranked warrior on the team of the graduating warrior. -- Scoring as follows for each turn: 2 pts -- possession of your own team flag 1 pt -- possession any other flag 1 pt -- for each win 1 pt -- for each kill 1 pt -- for each award you receive in the newsletter -- You may enter as many teams as you like (per RSI rules) but each team is its own entry. -- Tie-Breaker goes to the team that had the most points from flags. -- If still tied the tie-breaker will be the team that had the most points from kills. (It's the Delarq way.) -- The contest lasts 10 turns and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd (based on highest point totals) Prizes: (what you've been waiting on) 1st -- 3 know favorites potions* DA warrior named after winning manager 2nd -- 2 know favorites potions* 3rd -- 1 know favorites potion* * These are full favorite potions (weapon, rhythms and tactics) and can only be used on warriors with at least 4 FE. How's that for paying out? (grin) Even if you think that it's all about the TC, these prizes should be enough to draw you in. (You know who you are.) I hope to see friend and foe alike come to Jhans. Legion, Froths, and all the others...this is your personal invite. Can you win? Can you survive 10 turns of Hell in Jhans? Note: Special thanks to RSI for helping make this contest possible.
